No you do not need to have a driving license. There're many people in my batch who do not have one, and no one says anything. DL is not a mandatory document.
No one sends you home for not having any document. You have got wrong info.
They'll give you 2 months time to produce the document, in case you are not carrying a mandatory one, which includes your marksheets and degree certificates. You can get it from home by post.
Final year degree certificates have to be produced, before your confirmation, which is one year after you complete training. So it's around 1.5 years.
Hello guys, I'm a final yr engg student who has taken CAT this year & today got selected in CTS and INFOSYS both thru campus recruitment. We'll have to choose one by tomorrow noon. I want to know which company I should join if I want to do MBA next in view of a "deferred success" this year. Please (preferably experienced) people advise which company to join. The difference in salaries is negligible. But the there is a service bond of 2.2L in Infy which is bothering me. Please also tell me about the opprotunities of self-study(for CAT) in these 2 companies.
As far as I've gathered till now, pros of cons are as follows:
1. INFY reputation better than CTS
2. INFY salary slightly higher.
3. INFY training far better & admired by other companies.
4. Other companies take former INFY employees more readily.
4. CTS less workload (more opportunity for studies/mocks)
5. No bond in CTS
Please enlighten seniors!

Don't worry about bond. You can certainly not pay it and ignore any legal notices.
1. INFY reputation better than CTS
--Reputation is a perception. If you get to learn and live happily in a company for your tenure then it is the best thing that could happen.
2. INFY salary slightly higher.
-- Considerable point
3. INFY training far better & admired by other companies.
-- True
4. Other companies take former INFY employees more readily.
-- Misconception. Other companies hire employees who have have experience in the area they are looking for and who show and prove their competence during the selection process. Infy as a brand name may get you a call, but to convert it all depends on you and your knowledge
4. CTS less workload (more opportunity for studies/mocks)
-- Myth. Break these myths. Every company may have variation of workload depending on the project and varying from project to project.
5. No bond in CTS
-- Forget about bond. It is actually illegal.
Please enlighten seniors!

I will give you three reasons to join Infy
1. Mysore Training
2. Mysore Training
3. Mysore Training
Other than this, if you are looking for "inconsequential" things like career growth, job satisfaction, better pay, onsite opportunities etc, go somewhere else.
And if you are serious about your MBA plans, why not try something totally different altogether?
Well.. and whoever tells you that hard work and slogging takes you somewhere in Infy.. bring him to me. I would like to hear to the story as well
. If you need to pick one out of CTS and Infy, my vote goes to CTS. Even after that if you are compelled to choose infy as your career option. best of luck
Cheers..

If i were you and if my goal was just CAT, I would prefer the company which gives me a location where it is easier to study and crack CAT. IF you get a posting at your home city, definately go for it as staying home and studying gives you a lot of time and comfort.
I rejected a higher paying job in Delhi in an MNC and joined another company at my home city (Calcutta) so that i could concentrate on GMAT, and it really worked.
If neither companies give you home location, try to move to places like Pune/Hyderabad and avoid places like Bombay or Delhi (Where u spend a lot of time travelling to your work place)
Please Note: These are strictly my own views.
Thanks & Regards,
- Siddharth
My doj in infy will be in coming march. plz clarify my doubts regarding documents to be submitted.
-> I don't have any residence proofs for my new address.
-> Passport is also with my old address.
-> No driving license
-> pan card, voter id card, nsr and all academic docs are ok
1)Does passport should have current address ?
2)If I ask them to change my present address(for the sake of hard copy) how can I show residence proof for this new address whil joining ?
Is current residence proof an issue ?? Do they ask for it?
3)Is driving license a must ?
plz do reply.
Thanks a ton.
Hello friends,
I really need your help.
Infosys had recently visited our campus and I was one of the students who were finally placed in the company.
Infosys had announced that students of CSE and IT branches were eligible for an internship in the company which would start in January.
I wish to know whether in this internship Infosys will make us undergo the regular training that engineers have to go through before joining, or will it assign us some project. The last date for applying is very near so I will be thankful if you could respond quickly.
Awaiting a quick response.

Hi
first of all congrats for getting placed in infosys

Coming to your query.... internship given to you will comprise of short term training and then a evaluated project ... your internship will differ from the training given at time of joining with respect to duration ...what people are trained in few months , you will be trained in a month or so ..
don't loose the opportunity..... chance to spend extra days at mysore campus, the only heaven in India 😉 .... another benefit being that all those who undergo internship , have to go shorter training than others after joining ( in some cases even no training after joining )
All the best !!!

hi,
first of all congrats for getting selected in infy
as well as for decent score in snap
Instead of dropping the idea to join infy, I would suggest you to get your joining extended by few weeks ..... for this, mail at the id given in joining e-mail which you would have received ... quote some appropiate reason and request for extension in joining date ...
after attending gdpi process and snap final results .... you can join infy on the new date given to you by HR ( in case something wrong happens in gdpi ....though i wish nothing like this happens and you convert your calls)...
All the best !

Reply to this by palak mathur is the perfect answer to your quries.
I would like to add that it depends whether u r assigned a project or u r in bench during ur tenure with the company.
If u r bench have certain advantages like u will have time to prepare for all the mba exams and other activities. It also has disadvantages as that incase u want to switch jobs it wil put a bad picture accross.
1) No.. it is not necessary to have current address in passport(though it is generally recommended). i have address of my hostel in Chandigarh in Passport and my permanent residence is of Lucknow.
2)I didnt get this question regarding Residence proof
3) I am working in Infosys for the last 1.5years and I am not having a license, not even a learner's license. But, if you are coming to office by own vehicle, then it is mandatory. I hope u got the answer to ur ques

Hello,
I have another query about internship in Infosys. There are rumours that Infy doesn't allow one to keep laptops, not even in one's room. Also that it is very strict in terms of attendance. Are these rumours true?
Also, I am expecting gd/pi calls from sibm-pune, tiss and xim-b et al. In that case will Infosys people allow me to attend the gd/pi sessions of these colleges as it would mean taking a leave of around 3-4 days for each gd/pi call that I get?
Kindly reply as soon as possible.

hi,
yea ... from 2009 batch owards, keeping laptop with onself in mysore campus during hostel stay is prohibited!! ..You are not allowed to keep it.
Attendance is again critical ...because if your attendance will fall below the decided percentage for your batch, you will not be allowed to take tests! So, you should attend classes regularly.
Thirdly, as far as GD/PI calls are concerned.... you can manage to take leaves by quoting convincing reasons to your batch owner..... so, feel relaxed
!!!

buddy, this is not the right place to ask for compensation of IBM ... we all are infoscions trying to solve infy related queries.... we don't have exact idea of what IBM is paying to new joinees. Compensation given by IBM will be mentioned in their joining letter which you would have got , kindly refer to it !!
And i don't think for fresher, it will be of big difference whether you join IBM or Infy .....except the fact that you have much more job security in Infy
...any company where you are put into project soon is going to be beneficial for your career

Well, its all my personal opinion and people may differ from my opinion. If you ask me personally i would say a BIG NO to join Infy!! Its no more a dream company which it used to be few years back. Now there are so many absurd policies in organisation which makes life hell for the employees. For example, you have to sit 9.25 hours in office compulsory doesnt matter if u have work or not! They track your time when you were out of the campus and when u came back to the campus. Appraisal process is like hell
where work is not counted but your repo with the manager counts.Training is fun definitely but now due to 8 months training its no more a fun as you will feel bored after some time soon. You will get trained in some X technology but will get project in Y technology(if you are lucky enough to get project!) for which again there will be one more training. You slog for hours for a year in office and in the end they say your performance is not outstanding and its kinds average and you get a average performance rating(in appraisal). Be ready to stand in queue for 1/2 hr at least if you want to have lunch(at least in Mysore campus) due to the overcrowding in the food courts. It seems to me sometimes that i am in a "murgi ka dadba" or "Battery Cage" u can say.You will have no identity of your own in this vast company of more than 1 lac people and even HRD doesnt care if you want to quit.
If you want to have a different identity and place in organisation where people value your words and you are an asset to the organisation then trust me DONT JOIN INFY!!
Guys , lemme clear a few rumours about Infosys with present ground realities..
Question:- Should I join Infy ?
Answer :- Do join only if you can take a lot of mental pressure....I can assure you training at Mysore would be an out of the world experience , quiet possible the best thing that can happen to any1 , BUT ONLY , if u can deal with tht pressure.
Trainees are not treated well in Infy....be it HR's/The security guys or thereoff....
Next is the actual training...it is very hectic....being from the "Recession-batch" , I can certify , its very very rigorous , specially for those like me who dont have CS/IT background.
The campus is very beautiful and all other facilities are too good(except food).
My views :- I loved it....it was a fulfilling experience inspite of few major dispcrepencies.
Question :- What if I am preparing for CAT?
Answer :- Infy is ideal then...first it instills the work ethics(the kind of hard work we had to put in was a first time for me) and then after training is complete , u will have nothing to do for a long long time(very few people are un-lucky enough to get some work)...so lots of free time with the right mind set...ideal for any kind of preparation....add to it they will provide you with a PC , internet connection in a air-conditioned office and NO WORK...things dont get better.
Question :- What if I want to have a career in IT?
Answer :- NO....Infy is not for freshers....they have nothing to offer unless you are willing to be patient and wait for minimum of 2-3 years .
Join any other , just any other company....Infy is not gonna take u anywhere....training is world class but its value in the market is a big MYTH.....no value without good work-ex...none from my batch have got any meaningful work.
plus the bond is a peculiar one.....if u quit before the bond is over u have to pay back for no of computer-hours...i.e., the no of hours for which you have used the computer provided by them...it generally comes down to something in range of 2-3 lc.
Mismanagement of resources is blatant.
Question :- Compulsary 9.15 hours.
Answer :- Yes it is compulsary to clock 9.15(not 9.25) hours ...but not on a daily basis...it is calculated quaterly...many people I know , come and swipe in go back only to return at night to swipe out....life is fun....few like me sit in office and make full use of all the resources provided.
training:-
Ideal place for geting trained in various technologies
I for example , got trained in all basic courses in CSE , followed by .net(man it was good ..I can do anything now)...later on , I had another full training in Open Systems tech , followed by posting in Pune where I underwent training in CS4(action script programming for FLASH) , now am planning to go for JAVA...I dont intend to leave Infy....it was at tht point when I started taking my plans for MBA seriously...now tht I have decided to give it a shot I AINT LEAVING INFY..!!
POSTING:-
can be in any of their DC's(all in proper cities though)...no1 has a say...things are completely random.
Internship:-
Met many interns at Mysore....lemme tell you something...it rocks...the workload is inhuman , dont go for it if you did not take your engg seriously , otherwise gear up for your first whacky experience at Infy.
What they teach to interns is same as in main training....just that the duration is less than half and the course is adjusted(read compressed) accordingly....pressure is immence...there was not even a single night when I went to smoking zone for a ciggy-break and din find at-least 20 interns with tense faces , hurrying throung their ciggies.
The positive side however is that once you are done with this thing , the main training will be a cakewalk and you guys will get more time to enjoy the campus...ITS EXTRA-ORDINARILY WONDERFUL/BEAUTIFUL...
Question :- Compulsary 9.15 hours.
Answer :- Yes it is compulsary to clock 9.15(not 9.25) hours ...but not on a daily basis...it is calculated quaterly...many people I know , come and swipe in go back only to return at night to swipe out....life is fun....few like me sit in office and make full use of all the resources provided.
..
It is 9.25, which transalates into 9 hours and 15 minutes.
Cheers..
