Currently there is no role called software engineer in Infy. its Systems engineer and Senior systems engineer.

i got mine about a week before joining. people have got theirs after they joined, so i don't think you shld really be worried about that. use the soft copy as a reference. that should be good enough.

I have heard varying information about bond at infy.. Some told me that the bond is for 1.5 years after the start of the training whereas I also heard that there are 2 bonds - 1 during training and second 1 year bond after you actually join the work..

Can somebody throw light on the duration of bond during training and after wards.. (Training is extended upto 7.5 months these days)..


now the duration of bonding is changed.
ie there is bond of one year from the date of joining the unit. ie after effectively completing the training which again differs from stream to stream(a bit longer for finacle stream)
so count the bond as 1 year from the date of joining to production

assuming u join the company this december...
u have a training of min 6 months ...in the mean time if u get admission in some good college..u can simply stop studying for the module tests conducted by infy...by this they would only kick u out
no need to pay any thing:biggrin:

in general ,
my friend left the company this june (he is in bond till oct),but they did not ask him to pay anything (may be because of recesion)

so don't worry too much abt bond amount

the hostels are fully air-conditioned and every care would be taken to provide quality food(on taste..no comment)

but u get a lot of choice in food.. south, north ,bengali etc etc

may be a bit problem to adjust to climate in initial few days,but later Mysore Dc is the place to be.

the most beautiful campus of infy, u will enjoy ur stay here

are u planning to join infy in feb and leave it later to join other company???
even in that case what i suggested earlier would be true..
once u are here, u can contact the HR to know the bond amount details.
recently there had been change in the company policies,of which i am unaware of.....

the thing i suggested is , there is mandatory to complete 60% of modules
ie if u write 10 exams u have to manditoraly clear 6 of them, if u don't they will send u out...(they would provide work exp certificate for the time u are here)

I've been working with infosys since Feb'09.......
And my experience has been wonderful throughtout........
To all the new joinees i'vepiece of advice for their ultimate and adventurous mysore Training......
1. Work Hard, Party Harder: Yes , training is little bit exhaustive(but not tough for sure) as u have to give tests every 3-4 days after attending 9-10 hrs of teaching everyday... But hey hey hey--> Dont waste ur weekends.. Xplore all nearby picnic spots, discs:drinking:, etc.. (Kerela is also nearby, try to see its Virgin beauty)..
2. Donot Indulge Into Malpractices:nono:: Try to be away from cheating or eve teasing or fighting ... Strictly avoid playing games on ur pc.. You'll be thrown out of the company...There's a rule of coming back into the campus by 11pm.. They charge 500 rs fine for entry b/w 11pm-5am.. What more, if repeat it for two more times, :banghead:u'll have to stay outside the campus for whole of ur training.....

Just ENJOY UR STAY in the campus . u'll fall in love with it.. ............

sorry my mistake...presently i m working in a small firm near my place...my joining is in feb....already quite a few of my batchmates hv taken up off capmus offers i hv stayed back fr mba prep.... will try my luck from feb on wards dats y i ws asking if i leave within a few months ... newys thanx fr ur insight

Buddy ..it completely depends on ur interest and future plans.. No one will tell u which is better 4 u...its u only who has to decide.
Let me begin with d infy 1st. Well u r luckier than me in terms of DOJ(mine being 22nd feb).
if u r really interestd in IT industry than infy is best place to start off with. It will lay down a rock solid foundation from where u can reap huge benefits or also u can leverage the infy work ex if u plan to go 4 MBA.

BSNL is a very good PSU but afterall it's a sarkari and the "dhila dhala -kaam kaaj" might ruin ur career ahead. Moreover tha growth is incomparable to waht infy will offer.

So better get urself thinking whats better 4 u what u wanna do most?

the positives with infy:
(1)when u shift a job from infy , to some other software company,there wouldbe phenominal increase inthe salary(but money is not every thing)

NOTE: being in BSNL will not hamper ur chances, they in fact increase ur chances,
because most of cat applicants would be from software

I too was told by a friend that laptops are not allowed.

No,

laptops are not allowed in training. internet is there only in the designated internet cenrtres.

In a company that deals with work done in a computer, it is very difficult to keep a hold on what is being done, if you allow everybody to have access to their own machines inside office. only select people have laptops provided by the company, others have to use the desktop. but, nobody is allowed to bring their own computers inside the campus, anywhere.

there are internet centres inside the office and u will be able to surf the net there.

every day you have net facility from 5pm in the evening till 11pm
during that time u can access PG.
and i think in mornings from 6-9am(not very sure of timings)

apart from the ways suggested above...you also have reliance web world inside mysore campus.... you can access the insane world from there too :cheers:

I am also in the same situation as Niya now! I have cleared the interview in US and its been 3 weeks and I havent recieved an offer letter and when I contacted them regarding this, they just said that internal approvals are still going on. (I know background/reference checks are done).
Niya, if you are still on this forum, could you please let me know about your situation back in 2007?
Any others in US, with the same situation as mine, could you also please let me know?
