No..
since your cousin has not yet joined the company, and infact he wouldn't even be a part of the company until the first 2 days, i don't think it is possible to arrange accommodation for his mother. you can get accommodation inside campus for dependents after the first week or so.

Thnaks Bharath. So the best way to arrange acco is to catch a present Infy Mysore employee/trainee and get acco done through him? And is it allowed?

I don't think so.
as i said, accommodation is only given to dependents. infact, i guess infy has reduced the definition of dependents to Spouse and children. this is because ppl used bring house owners, Aunts etc as parents. people wldnt generally do it with spouses and hence it is much more easier to control
either ways, i really doubt if there is any possibility of getting accomodation through a friend.

well ... there was a guy with us during training at mysore ( read as dec'08 batch)...... he attended all GD/PI calls (around 6-7 ) during training period and is now at IIM-L ..... it is all about handling your batch owner with good diplomatic reasons......
apart from him....there were 4-5 more who went to attend GD/PI calls from the respective b-schools....i also managed to get a leave but did not go to attend IMT-G call due to certain other reasons...
hope that helps!!!

you can do one thing , ofcourse not legal

when u get ur GD calls u can simply take a loss of pay ,
this is not going to effect u in any way(except u will not be recieving ur salary) and when u come back u need to change the batch
but who cares when u get a call from a IIM:biggrin:
I have asked similar query once before but wanted to clear it fully.. I'm joining on 11th jan at mysore.. Going to write CAT,XAT,SNAP before that.. As from previous posts it looks like attending gd/pi is somewhat dependent on your luck as well as batch in charge..
So if I assume that I manage to attend interviews and if I get placed in some decent b-school then what'll the procedure to back out from training.. The final confirmation about b-school selection will only be known around may I guess..
So after 3 months how much will they charge as the part of the bond??
What if I leave by intentionally flunking the tests.. Will that affect my future career??
Thanx in advance..

Not a bad idea actually. i don't think it will affect your future career if you flunk your exams. as long as you already have made it into a b-school, it shouldn't make a difference. you can just consider Infy as a bad dream.
bond amount is dependent on the amount of time you spent in training. i think someone has already answered that query. we cant give an exact figure because i don't think anyone knows about that here.

Hi Abhi123,
I'll like to answer 2 of your questions
1> is it possible for a fresher like me who would be joining as a systems engg, to get into sales, marketing team of infy ??? if yes, then whats the criteria/parameters ???
- No this is not possible..........Infact Infy hire's Sales and Marketing
people only from tier 1 MBA colleges and that too with 3-4 years
experience..........I too am eying for that
2> to be precise can i get into the business side of doing things with just a btech degree.....(because i have known instances of only btech working as sales, marketing execs in IBM and going abroad frequently to meet clients etc..) ????
- Yes you can, I am just a B Tech and am currently a business analyst
with NIIT Technologies Ltd but i got into this pre-sales role only after
4 years of coding/design experience in the retail domain. ..Since the
Business side is a very vast field, I now realize the need for a
tier-1 MBA and hence going to SPJain Mumbai
I have been working on the business side for 1.5 years now.......and
believe me, this is not possible without the first 3-4 years of mechanic
work.....no one will respect/hire you if you have not dirtied your hands
Thanks & Regards,
- Siddharth
Hi puys probably im being over apprehensive here but can't help i have an offer letter from infosys mentioning the joining date december 2009.
And just to confirm i called on the number they sent along with the mail and asked if there will be an extension to the date given because i have to book the tickets, they said "You can go ahead with the itinerary the date is confirmed".
Is there still a chance that they may extend the joining date.
Thanks in advance

Tool_Schism SaysThanks dude. One more question they have changed my role from a software engineer to systems engineer whats the difference can some one explicate.
they have done this to almost everyone who has joined in recent months.
perhaps some restructuring within the company.
'bharathraj1' would be the right person to explain, if at all there is any difference.

You will be spending the first year as Systems Engineer. From your second year you will be called Senior Systems Engineer. I have been working for 2 years and 4 months and my designation was changed to Senior Systems Engineer in October.
I have heard varying information about bond at infy.. Some told me that the bond is for 1.5 years after the start of the training whereas I also heard that there are 2 bonds - 1 during training and second 1 year bond after you actually join the work..
Can somebody throw light on the duration of bond during training and after wards.. (Training is extended upto 7.5 months these days)..

The bond if for a period of 1 year from the date of joining the company. you will have 2 bonds only in case you are put into some particular IBU, where you are trained in technologies which are not taught outside. i think Varun(VisionIIM_ACL) had spoken about that a few pages back. please check the same.

The difference is in the expectation.
as a systems engineer, its ok if you take time to adjust to the work and technology. expectation set for you is to try to learn the work and scale up as soon as possible.
but as a Senior systems engineer, since you would have by then already spend 1 year in production, you are expected to be able to do things on your own and also be able to guide juniors and clear any doubts they have.

thanks to you all but my question was "Whats the difference between Software engineer and Systems Engineer?".
