Hi,
I don't think that it would be possible. Also, can you please share your experience with ICICI? Because most of us are using ICICI salary account for a long time now and we never had any issue.
Yes, it is a good offer.

hello infy seniors
I wish to know that while in training is it possible to get leave for 2-3 days, say just 2 weeks after joining.
is it given only on medical grounds or can one avail casual leave.
Please reply ASAP

P.S. some provision of "loss of pay" leave

yes it is possible. though it depends on your batch owner (like in college you have a department HOD who you go for leaves, out here everybatch has a batch owner)
so if your batch owner is a considerate person, you can get easy leave, else you might have to haggle.

Puys I have just completed my comp engg from pune and I have got placement in infy.. My training starts in JAN 2010 at mysore..
I'm giving CAT and some more other tests.. So naturally the GD and PI for all of them will be in feb, march after my training starts..
So I wanted to ask whether they will allow me to appear for GD/PI during training.. I'll opt for Bangalore as center for interviews as it'll be easier to go there from mysore..
If they are on sunday then it's fine but if on some weekday then will i get leave for it??
Please help..

well, obviously they are not going to give you leave because you have to attend GD/PI. moreover, there is a 1 year bond after you join Infy, though i know cases where infy has overlooked the bond and let people quit, you can never be certain of that.
best bet would be to tell that you are unwell, and need a day off, but if someone tells them that you have gone to Bangalore then the entire episode can get out of control.
also, if there is one GD/PI you need to attend, then you can do something, but if you get numerous calls, then it might be a problem.
so all in all, its about priority. if you feel you have done well, i suggest that you deny the Infy offer, and concentrate on GD/PI. but if you done just decently, then you can take the infy call, and do something for the GD/PI call that you get(if at all).
dont get into this false hope that you will be able to get into a b-school even after you join Infy. it isnt very easy, and you will need double the determination to make it. thats why i guess the b-school panelists give weightage to a person with work-experience :)

Thanks.. I can understand what you trying to say.. The problem is the CAT result comes after my doj and this being on cat I won't get approx idea about my percentile like last year.. So it's gonna be very tough decision for me..
This is my second attempt for CAT, the first when I was doing my ENgg.. got 91 percentile last time.. I'm hoping to do better this time around.. but if you are saying it would be difficult for me to attend GD/PI then I'll have to think again..
Btw i think most of the GD/PI are on sundays.. Is it not possible for me to get down to bangalore on sunday to give them??

1--> most of the GD/PI's are not on Sundays. they are scheduled all through the week, and if yours falls on a Sunday, you're lucky.
2--> if you get one calls, or for that matter 2, then there isn't any reason to worry. you can take a risk and put a days leave, and then be frank about it. the problem is when you get many calls. you can leave to Bangalore every week for about a month. you might be called for a sitting.
3--> weather online or otherwise, there would be ways in which you can judge your performance. the CAT coaching websites would find someway for you to be able to judge your performance. moreover, don't tell me CAT is the only exam you're writing. write all the exams possible. that will increase the chances of you getting a call.
as i said, don't be complacent that you have got the offer from Infy. trust me, getting into a b-school is going to be much much tougher once you are in infy. its not just about the dedication part, project commitments will also play spoilsport.

thank u bharath....
but i still have another doubt....it may sound childish bt..bt..wat i doubt is if i call and ask dem now...is there ny chance of changing da rule lyk NO ONE WOULD BE ALLOWED WITH OUT CLEARING ALL BACKLOGS EVEN IT IS NOT CONSIDERED AS A BACKLOG ACCORDING TO UNIV NORMS...

It's better to be asked not to join, rather than being asked to leave after 3 days of orientation. don't you think? in three days of orientation, you would have made some friends and then they will ask you to leave because you dont qualify the criteria. so its better if they make it clear now.
Moreover, if they say you cant join, i wouldn't expect you to take that for an answer and sit quiet. you need to argue your points. nothing happens unless you fight for it. im not asking you to make it ugly, but you need to make your points clear. you need to tell them why you think you qualify and stuff. i dont think it will be an issue. be bold and call.

Hi Palak,
I am Siddharth Bhaskar and was with infy for 2 years from 2004 (dec) to 2006 (Dec). After that I made a move to another high-profile IT company but moved to the business side and am now and IT-business analyst with 5+ years of total experience. I am mainly into pre-sales and perspective planning for retail solutions.
I have now quit my job and am going to pursue the 1 year MBA (PGPM) at SP jain mumbai and wish to return to Infosys (still love that brand name
) as a Business Development Manager after my course finishes next december. I will obviously sit through all placements at SPJIMR but my dream is to be a BDM at infy (that name rocks!!!!!!!!!).
My queries are
1) What kind of ppl (exp/qualifications) does infy hire for the post of
Business Dev Manager at overseas locations ?
2) Will my past experience at infy cause a hindrance as i wish to re-
apply after the completion of my MBA?
Kindly forward my query to the right authorities so that I can work accordingly.
Thanks & Regards,
- Siddharth

I'm not too sure about the first one.
for the second one, i can be certain of the fact that since you already were an Infy employee it would help you being re-recruited. the only question for which you need to prepare an answer is "why did you quit infy?" it would have been a breeze had you quit infy for the sake of higher studies, but since you quit to join a competitor, you might have to come up with a satisfactory answer. but then there are plenty of people who have quit infy for another company and come back to Infy. the most common answer people give is "i understoof the value of this company only after i quit" :)
i dont know to what level you have done your homework, but never join a company just because the position or the name sounds cool on your resume. for all that you know, you might be a perfect misfit :)

Hi Bharath,
Thanks a ton for your response!!
Just to let you know, I performed sales in a number of places where Infy was my direct competitor and I work under a BDM
...so its not that the position sounds cool, "it is cool" and from what i hear - from the buisness side Infy is a great company to work for (I have already been an SE there so i know the technical side
)............BDM's @ infy also get payed much above the industry average and handle huge clients worth millions of dollars........So thats gonna be my placeThanks & Regards,

sorry for spamming
great to see dedicated thread for infy related queries.....
cheers!!!
hi bharath,
first of all thanks a lot for solving so many doubts about infy, but i still have some more left for you-
1> is it possible for a fresher like me who would be joining as a systems engg, to get into sales, marketing team of infy ??? if yes, then whats the criteria/parameters ???
2> to be precise can i get into the business side of doing things with just a btech degree.....(because i have known instances of only btech working as sales, marketing execs in IBM and going abroad frequently to meet clients etc..) ????
3> a> are the SETLABS division and the E&R; division 2 distinct units in infy??how to get into either of them ??? is the job/career prospect
better in these 2 units ??? is there any meaningful research happening ???
b> from MBA perspective, will E&R; or SETLABS experience be any hindrance because of only being involved in research, training and not with direct business/projects ??? OR will it be actually good in the sense that it is different from what other IT ppl do normally ???
c> conversely, from a MS+Phd( US ) point of view later on, how much beneficial will the E&R; or SETLABS experience be ???
plz dont be little irritated seeing the plethora of questions, but i just felt like opening up all my doubts !!! 😃

1) i think its very difficult. unless you apply for the right post at the very beginning, you will not even be considered. it doesn't make sense for someone who applies to the post of a programmer to be interested to work in Sales/Marketing right? having said that, it is very difficult for a b-tech graduate to get a call for a marketing post when there are loads of MBA's applying for the same post. i wouldn't dissuade you. you can give it a try.
2) already answered :)
3) SETLABS and EnR are not part of the same department in my oponion. i might have to check on this one to be really sure. yes there are researches happening in SETLABS as well as in EnR, i am not sure how many of these are meaningfull or whatever happends with these researches, but then at somepoint of time, it does help the company somewhere.
to get into EnR, you either have to show interest in a particular technology while you are being trained, or you direclty apply for the post of a facilitator. in the first case you are offered the post while in the second, you apply for it. ditto for SETLABS.
never join any company or get into a work because of how it will be helping you in MBA. as long as you have passion in whatever you do, you will be rewarded. even if it is working as a programmer in a company of 50,000 programmers as long as you have substance, it doesnt matter that there are too many competitors.
4) if you are interested in MS and then a PhD then its obvious that EnR/SETLABS will help you. for the simple reason that these two departments give you ample oppurtunities for reasearch, and if thats your are of interest, then it would be a great start.
Btw, i dont mind the fact that you have asked too many questions, but you have been see-sawing betweem MBA and MS. what exactly is you interest?

aniruddhamkj SaysHI puys...my joinin is on 22ndfeb if something else doen't hit:lookround:....any idea wats da bond amount?? hw can i move to BFSI,marketing, sales team if they consider engg fr dat!...any idea wat ncfm, cfa wud do for my career in Infy??
hi aniruddh.... first of all congrats for joining infy..
Secondly, as per the new regulations being followed from our batch onwards.... bond amount is not fixed at the time of joining as in other IT majors.....
here....the bond amount depends on at what time are you making a call to quit company !!!.... the more time you spend in training , greater will be the bond amount!!!....but, it will start decreasing , once you join production and get into some project ( reason being you have given some returns to the company against the efforts/money spend in your training by company ).... this is valid for all the units except our unit, where the bond amount remains high irrespective of time you quit because its training is not given by any other Indian company..
your query regarding a b.tech moving into marketing/sales has already been answered by bharath sir in his above post, please refer to it for the same!!!
