But thats another issue...whether an year in Infy and then MBA, or CAT now..I know ppl say its a personal choice...but those who hv been there and done it..can advise better...also I m sure this current crisis will affect placements at B Schools too if things dont improve..Ofcourse i wil try to be optimistic..but just now i read this.. So any advice..Also do you have any idea that if this is the case with all placemets conducted by Infy this year..We were said we were the first recruits of 2008!!! So we must get our letters first..

An experience of 1 year is not given much weightage, that too in an industry like IT. Companies like Infy have a very college like atmosphere, considering that fact that many out here are fresh out of college, so taking that into consideration, in 1 year there isn't much corporate exposure that would be available to an individual. from a placement point of view, there would hardly be any different to you after MBA.

Exams like CAT test one's performance and to crack it, you need to be at the peak of your ability. not many are able to perform at their peak year after year. if you are performing at 98% level this year, chances are next year with work pressure and all that, your performance will dip and you will find it extremely difficult to bring it back up. im not saying you wont be able to, im just saying that it will take a lot of dedicated effort.

As i already said, infy believes a lot in values, and if you are selected through campus Infy will certainly send u the offer letter, it might take time, 6 months can also be possible, but you will get it. That's the reason i told you to concentrate on CAT and aim to crack it. unless you have plans of working in infy for 2-3 years and then writing CAT again, cracking it now wld be your best option.

you need to carry your certificates (All semesters), 10th, 12th certificates, your passport and your driving license (if you have one), a few photos and yourself

yes saturdays and sundays are free. computer science and Information science students will be asked to write a test, and if they clear it, they are put to short cycle else they will be put to long cycle. the rest by default get into long cycle.

CL must be having a centre in mysore, you will have to take a bus from the capus bus stop to the city. Training will generally be very hectic, and Saturdays and sundays will mostly be occupied with studies. it will take a lot of time management to be able to prepare for CAT at the same time.

hi my name is shaifali.i m selected as an assistant software engineer in infosys in 2007.i got my offer letter in jan 2008 but i m still waiting for my joining.all the ppl amoung us are saying that the company is going to cancel the joining.pls clear my doubts that is it so.when can i expect my joining and where do i take help to clear my doubts.i have not opt any other option.so what should i do if it is happening so?

Shifali, from the past couple of quarters, Infosys has bitten off more than what it can chew. They have gone on a recruitment spree and then all of a sudden, there were lot of problems ( a) Dollar getting weaker and hence Rupee getting stronger b) Sub-Prime crisis c) Many clients and projects running out of funds ). All this lead to excess employees and not much available work, which has led to a queue.

Infy does not/Will not cancel any offers made. you will certainly get your joining date. it might get delayed, but u will certainly be called.
Do not hesitate to communicate the HR folks. call the bangalore office reception, and ask that you want to talk to the recruitment section. you will get leads from where u can get your doubt clarified.

i have done b.tech frm kurukshetra university and have been selected with infy
after my final results my average degree is 59.75%
but my weighted degree as per university rules that is 40% 1st yr 50% 2nd yr 80% 3rd yr and 100% 4th yr
aggregates to 62.5%

this is percentage mentioned on my final degree

wud i be screened out at the time of induction

please help

do they chk average marks

and would they consider 59.75 as 60 or not

Ruchir,

the selection marks is different for different universities, and infy does take into account the differential marking system various universities adopt.

if your university uses weighted average, infy in all probablity would be using the same.

in any case its always good to approach the Infy guys once u get the offer letter, or once u join the college.

Will Infosys offer test/interviews for 2007 freshers who have sent resumes to [email protected] friend had a job in a company through campus recriutment-a 2007 passout..They then delayed the joining to march 2008 and then finally didnt send offer letter...he has been sending his resumes to [email protected] ever since hoping to get a call from infosys..will he get a call? please anybody give a reply..he is a 2007 fresher..

is it tht infy have send a mail to all ppl on bench saying tht they'll get only the basic salary and NOT the basket of allowances and stuff???

pls clarify this... and how's the situation inside there after this economic slide? mohandas pai admitted to media tht there'll be considerable bench time and they'll pick 'only the best talents'... dunno wht tht mean... will they make trng and compre even tougher??? dunno wht more to come...:confused:

firstly, i always feel that there is no dearth of oppurtunity for someone who is talented.

secondly, yes, infy is going through tough times. even though the company is not directly impacted, many of our clients have been impacted with the slow down, so that impacts the projects that infy gets. many future projects are cancelled and many current projects are tightened. in such a case, with the excess people infy has recruited, certainly there will be more ppl put in bench. Atleast putting someone in bench is better than firing him out of the company.

i havent heard anything about that rumour you are talking about. in most of the cases infy is very considerate to the employees it recruits. so i dont think what u said is true.

as for the training in Mysore, every now and then they make changes to the course. so it will get tougher as the days progress. i dont think it will have much dependency on the market conditions.

So for that which course is preferable for me? & please suggest me some institution's name of mumbai & pune for software degree.
At this time I m totaly confused:confused: beacause I don't know which side to be selected So plzzzzzzzzzz help me.plz guid me.
I m good in c++ & java.now I m learning VB (not advanced versions of it). :smilecol:

i know of my friends who have done some course in a certain institute in Pune. they told me that the course was really helpful and the certificate given by the institue has quite a lot of value. im not able to recollect the name though. sorry about that.
it also has some kind of an entrance test to select the candidates they admitted.
you can probably ask around for that.

future growth as an audit cordinator depends a lot on your background. its a very stressfull and demanding job and you are always under fire. but thats what excites many ppl. they just love it

I have received an offer letter from from Infy B'lore. I have been given 1 week stay at the Hostel. Is it possible to extend it by one more week if i donot get the accomodation at nearby area. Since my Job band is C so i am not allowed to take relocation allowance. (i guess it starts from Band D). Kindly confirm? Is it possible for Infy to give some portion of my relocations, since they are also not paying for the notice period.

if the stay is official, like training or client meeting, the accomodation can generally be extended. for all other situations, accomodation is not extended, and even if done so, you will be asked to pay for the stay. moreover, infy wld allot you accomodation beyond a week only if they have no other prior commitments for the rooms, which is generally not the case, as the rooms are almost always booked

well in infosys there is no feasibility for extending the accomodation.
it's just a week they provide us.

the pay is same for all the colleges. It may differ on the qualification only.
U can extend the date of joining by showing them required proofs like medical or a letter from the university or college in the case of any awaiting results. but they wil give u date of joining after 2-3 months.

Now i understand that chances are very dull for the extention of my stay at the guest house. Can you tell me that whether one week stay at B'lore to find a decent flat on rent basis is sufficient or not. I am worried if i donot get a flat in a week. Does Infy pay for the Joining bonus i.e. my first joining travel expenditure to B'lore.
