i was placed through a pooled interview. some 14 odd colls were there, amongst them only 1 have received doj so far.
i knw, i may get it in the next wk, or in mid dec...
now, cat 2008 forms r out. if i fill the form, and then infy calls me before the c-day, i'll miss out due to location problem.
is it possible to postpone doj once infy allots it??

any medical reason?? in that case will infy check while joining??

Infy wld be sending you to Mysore campus for training. how long you stay there depends on your background. in case ur a comp sc. graduate, then u will have training just for a month and a half, in case ur non comp sc. then ur training will be for over 4 months.
now CAT always happens on a Sunday, so irrespective of which location you choose, you will just have to leave Mysore campus on Friday and reach you test city by Saturday. Take the exam on Sunday, and leave that same day. Max you might have to take Monday off. not a problem at all.
the real problem is only if you perform great in CAT. Infy has a 1 year bond. in case u get an awesome score, then your bond will not get completed by May-June (The ideal joining date for most institutes), what will you be doing then?
yes Infy does delay the DoJ, but as you rightly said, they need a genuine reason. Medical reasons are good, but Infy will do a thorough background check. they might even get you checked with the Infy on campus doctor to see if ur talking truth here.
And yeah, while Infy talks a lot about Bonds and stuff, i have seen many instances where if the employee is leaving for higher studies, they go easy. they are only concerned about ppl quitting to join their competitors.

on a serious note, AFAIK all ppl r getting training at mysore. infy has augmented the whole infrastructure there for this specific purpose. also if infy line of thought had been like this - northies at place x and southies at place y then they would have called all delhiites or all mumbaikars at a single phase... but they r not doing it; they r calling ppl frm everywhere in small chunks and rightly so coz it is extremely important to get the cultural mix and balance right. u r expected to mix n work with southies, westies, easties
n may be later on with some african tribal???;) in this context thought of separation of candidates based on zone - well, it's not going well... i don't think it's true.
there r groups of infy freshers at orkut, y group, g group... join one n u'll know plenty of funny rumuors 😉 n yes, some ground realities as well.

yes, to some extent you are right.
i don't think the location of training is based on the place a person hails from, but yeah, we have 2 training centers. Infact Pune and Hyderabad are also emerging as training centers. but certainly, nothing can replace Mysore.

please advise what important things one needs to carry with him for joining the mysore training campus.What is the training schedule ,are Saturdays & sundays free. My branch is Electronics & Comm.,will i have to face any test before training starts. Also I have enrolled in CL's test series for CAT'08,can i continue my test series at Mysore. Also do we have any time to prepare for CAT during training.Please do reply, I need this infomation.

I read the last few pages..and through my search fell on pages arnd 150 were the slowdown was being discussed..i knw now is a time for 2008 graduates joining...but I hv an important query..would be grateful 4 ur help..
I will pass out in 2009...and currently i m preparing for CAT,as most ppl do :)..there wasnt anythng serious abt it,though i m doing well in mocks with 98arnd percentiles, since I got thru INFY in Campus held in Jan in my college..every year Infy came here in Feb and gave job letters by May..this year they came in Jan,took half the no they did in 2007..and said ur letters would come by May..now its August, no letters..our seniors also got their joining for training 3 days back..from 22nd Sept..late than usual..
Contacted my college Placement Cell..they have no info..I understd that the US crisis is responsible for the joining delay of our seniors...but they not having sent us a letter or even a confirmation, can it mean they dont want to...so that they will send it when the situation improves or if it dsnt then cancel it?????Surely they shld hv sent a mail by now..its 7 mnths..
So what wld u advise Sir..what should I do..???? i know there a long time 2 go..a year more..but this is not Infy maner..i knew TCS is slow in its recruitment process..but not Infy..

But thats another issue...whether an year in Infy and then MBA, or CAT now..I know ppl say its a personal choice...but those who hv been there and done it..can advise better...also I m sure this current crisis will affect placements at B Schools too if things dont improve..Ofcourse i wil try to be optimistic..but just now i read this.. So any advice..Also do you have any idea that if this is the case with all placemets conducted by Infy this year..We were said we were the first recruits of 2008!!! So we must get our letters first..
