Infosys Recruitment | PaGaLGuY

Yes, what u heard is true. the placement test of Infy is completely aptitude based and nothing technical will be asked during the interview stage too (Unless your from the computer or IS background)
Infy will put you through a rigorous training program, and test will be conducted regularly. you need to perform well in these tests or the company will terminate you from services

package of 3.25 lpa means that you will get around 20K on hand. the usual deduction like PF and tax will be applicable. about 2K every month from you salary will be training incentive. it will be paid once you complete training. so in case u have 5 months of training, you will be paid 10K at the completion of you training. also, there will be a deduction of about 1500 Rs for hostel rent. its best that u refer to your pay on a per month basis rather than refer to it per annum.
giving pay as per annum is the smartest way corporates use to blow up the salary figure.

well on an average you will have lots of time. needless to say, its on how u manage time that determines how much of it you utilize. there can be a situation where u are put in a highly critical project that requires you to slog for 10 or 12 hours a day, and thats when things can get messy.
all said and done, YES u will get ample time

Hey... thanks a lot for the info :)
cheers

Hey Bharath..

One more thing... got to know that there are 2 tracks in infy training period... could you tel me the differences in 2... int erms of duration and salary during and after the training period...

hi..............i hav been recruited by infy this feb(2009 passout batch)...............they hav told us to hav 65% aggregate before joining infy..........but we ppl get grades.............so can anyone tell whether 65%=6.5.............or does infy consider anything else????????
another thing is tat if someone has a backlog in 6th sem and waiting for its results but 8th sem(i.e final sem) results r out and doj(date of joining) has arrived.............can anyone face any prob to extend doj as we get results at end of august???????is there any chance of infy not extending doj???????
plse reply!!!

Yup there are 2 training batches. Short and Long cycle.
there is no difference in terms of pay, but the duration will be very small for short cycle batch. Only Computer and Information Science guys will be put into fast cycle, every body else by default is into Long Cycle.
while it takes about 5 months in Long Cycle, Fast cycle is completed in a month and a half

Nirmal, Infy wld specify what is the CGPA that it considers for cutoff. infact the cutoff varies for various universities. while it is 65% for most cases, it is 60% for Maharashtra University and 70% for Delhi University. its better you ask around a lot more and find out what the CGPA that they consider for cutoff.

During joining they require you to get a degree certificate, or atleast a provisional certificate. in case your results are still awaited, i doubt your college will give you the provisional certificate, and Infy would not accept you without it.

its is a must that all your results are available during joining. you can request for a later DOJ, in case they agree, then you have it made

Bharath

thanks............
but my query was whether infy will extend my joining date in case of the prob mentioned above(i.e 8th sem results out and 6th sem backlog result not yet out....will be out in last week of august and joining date has arrived before tat)............or will they expel me by not extending joining date.............is there any chance of infy doing this???????

when i joined, one of the guys in my batch did not get is 8th semester marks, and so the company told him to join in the next batch. Infy generally does this, because there is a batch joining almost every fortnight. i don't know whats the scene now.

The best option would be to call up someone. generally in the joining letter they give the number of some HR folks, call them up and tell them your story.
its better to hear from them now, rather than hear from them later on.

Yes. If you have genuine reason, Infosys does extend the joining date by few months.

i guess as a BSc grad your job will be that of an Assistant SE.
the growth from an ASE is not very competitive in Infy, but a tough one. after completing about 18 months, you need to give a technical test, and only after you clear it will they give u the promotion.

After MCA infy will hire u as an SE, so the time u spend in Infy will be the same as the time u spend in MCA, but with the added benefit that u get an extra degree.
its purely upto u to decide

hii buddy iam replying you on the basis of the experience of one of my friends...so here it goes like this...ull be appointed as a ass.test engineer..i suppose thats what has been told to u by them... life out there is really hard.. it depends on you how u handle it...promotions are really scarce.....anyways u have to do a post graduation..coz u can't be contended with what u have right now....so plan ur future accordingly
This year the top honchos of Infosys like Mohandas Pai, K Dinesh etc got over 100% hike. They already own shares in crores. Now they are given salary in Crores, while the poor recruits are made to work like slum dwellers and late in the nights.
These guys are tom tomming IT mantra but then have created a golf course to fool the clients and the Govts.
Farmers lands are used to replicate arrogant capitalism. Now the Commies in Bengal too have taken the bait from Infosys.

1) the top honchos have not got a 100% hike, Dinesh earns a little more than half a crore per year as of Apr 2008, and if thats 100% hike, then it will be about 30 lakhs last year, and that is too low for his profile

2) not everybody work like slum dwellers, though i wld not argue that Infy provides the best working environment and the best pay.

infact even though many ppl upfront say that they dont like the work they do, if u spend some time with them and ask them "what kinda work do you really enjoy doing" many dont have an answer. sometime i feel, ppl say things just for sympathy. i haven't truly understood this stuff yet.

3) Are you complaining that Infy is building golf courses in land that shld have been farmland? whats wrong in having state of the art campuses? the place where electronic city stands today was a barren land 15 years back. infact it still is. just a few patches have been made better by the companies there.

:huh:i just read this from www.workexp.com website from a employee experience and what he wrote there
just wanted to ask is this true or not:huh:

u can see the source

What's wrong with Infosys? | Share Your Work Experience

sorry for the previous post buddy, i overreacted.

but yeah, all that corporate gossip and rumors can never be taken seriously.
ppl throw a lot of facts and make things look interesting from a third man's perspective.

in that link "what wrong with infy" every point mentioned by him has an answer

true infy is enjoying the tax holiday, but its one of the most socially responsible companies around. what is mentioned there about public toilets and slum schools is just a fraction of the true picture.

our pay might be less, but infy sends employees onsite and that too for a min of a year, ppl earn a lot in that time and if you look at salary on a long term perspective things even out.

Infy from the start has never been interested in launching any products of its own. infact Infy started out as a products company and experienced heavy loses. there are some initiatives in the company off late where management is encouraging entrepreneurs.

some of the other points mentioned are really silly :)

all in all, infy can do more, and its unfair to say it hasn't done anything

Interesting

Well, those who are complaining about late night shifts and blah blah , let me ask them, who forced you to take up the job in the first place?

I will tell you the basic mentality of the average indian grad turned techie. Most of them don't know for nuts, what kind of a job profile they are looking for when they start off. So many people turn up for written tests and interviews, just because a good starting salary is being offered by the software companies, when compared to the other sectors. They fart about career growth and career goals but how many people actually know what these terms stand for? 95% of the pass-outs don't have a career goal. The only aim is to get hold of some job and start earning. And this is the truth. Also, majority of the people who vent out their frustration on blogs, belong to this category

After getting into the job, when people find that the initial high pay offered was only a trap and there is nothing much on offer in terms of career growth (yeah, people get to know about it only when they start working) and pay hikes, they start complaining.

Well, let me tell you one thing. No company has forced anyone to take up employment with them. And no company forces its employees to stay back If you are good enough, switch the companies or better still go for higher studies. But if you are fit for nothing, QUIT COMPLAINING and GET TO WORK!

Cheers..

PS- Views are entirely my own

Just to add to your point, what you have said is not just true only for a techie but 95% of non-IT grads too. For them getting a well paying job is more important than career growth. I think its Indian mentality to favour instant gratification over long term goals.

mamooty

yeah and they shd understand they have the job becoz they r working for late nights and long hrs which americans refuse...:2gunfire:

but 1 thing all employees shd get same hike.
i mean directors hgetting 80% hikes and employees getting 8 is groslly unfair

Mohandas Pai (or any director) gets a handsome hike because he is damn good in what he is doing. During his non-infy days he used to attend the Infy AGM and ask impossible questions to the management, they finally decided to take him on board. ever since, Infy has been winning the award for the best presented quarterly report. if you observe, infy is the first company every quarter to come up with the quarterly report.

same goes with the other senior management guys, most are extremely well qualified and skilled for their roles.

the SE community on the other hand is the most diverse in Infy, the company has some of the best in terms of talent, and hike is proportionate to your ability. so we have had ppl with hikes ranging from 8-35 percent. it also depends on the business that your sector in infy is bringing in.

also, i doubt directors wld have got a hike of 80%, not only wld that be a lot of cash, it also will set an unhealthy expectation level

i don't know if a work-ex of 2 years will give you any added benefit in your MCA, unless you get your degree from a very good college, which provides placement.

Also, its very important to know that with a BSc degree, you will be put in the role of an ASE. After MCA, you will get the role of an SE, so no much diff in relation to time spent and experience earned.

if in case you have plans of doing MCA, i wld suggest you do it now.
