Infosys Recruitment | PaGaLGuY

Hello Every1...

Well i am new to this thread. I am a fresher and have been placed in Infy, but i havent been given a joining date as yet.Now the prob is theres this course by BSE regarding Capital Market which I am very interested in joining but it is a three months part time course and starts on 16 june.

IF someone could know about when infy are goin to recruit students frm Mumbai it could help me decide whether i should go for the course or not.also i m thinking dumping infy for the course and the time could be utilized by me to prepare for Cat08.

Please advice me friends..

Pratik,
as u might be already aware of, Infy has been delaying the joining date of most ppl that it recruits through campus. so nobody can tell the exact date that wld be given to you. 3 months is a long time, anything can happen by then.
so if u are ready to quit the BSE course mid way and join infy if the need arises, then you can go ahead.
but i am to go by the trend, then most ppl generally get a joining date around August or September

Bharath

well if i get a joining date for September that would be just gr8 by that time the course would be almost complete. Neways thanks for helping me i think i will go for the course as it would be really helpful when i go ahead for an mba

Pratik dont take my word for it. September is just a guess. it cld be July too, or it can be extended for another 6 months. so u just have to hope tht the course gets complete before the date they send accross for joining.
As for the BSE course, im uncertain how it will help you in MBA, though it will certainly help you get a very good hold on investing and stuff.

Hi all,

i have joined Infosys in the month of October last year as ASE i.e, (7 months experience). Now, i have completed my training and got assigned to a project in Pune. I am interested in going for MBA (IT) (Distance) frm IGFAI or IGNOU or SYMBIOSIS University.

I am stuck up with some of the points:dontgeti:

like......

1) Depending upon the university, does any difference in value exist? (which most people say).....

2) will there be any difference shown at the time of apprisals.. depending on the kind of mode in education (Distance or Day Scholar) we have taken?

3) How much safe it would be to go for Further studies at this moment(fresher in the field and just got a project)?

i would be very much thank full for the advices.......

thanks in advance:new_terminator:

Hi all!Infy is coming to my college on 25th june. But I am pretty confused whether to take up the test.My concerns are as follows:
1.From what my seniors say, they chuck ppl out in training itself. Is that true.
I am worried because I am not technically very strong.
2.I heard there is no growth in infy.
3.In my college there is no multiple placements.Suppose I get placed in Infy,I cant attend other companies.
So I am confused whether to attend Infy or not based on these myths.
Also the other companies which are coming are Wipro,L&T;,Virtusa. So based on all thses please help me!
please clarify my doubts as soon as possible.

1.From what my seniors say, they chuck ppl out in training itself. Is that true.
I am worried because I am not technically very strong.

Yes they do chuck out ppl in case their performance in training is not good. it is a definite concern, because when ppl get selected into infy, its because of their analytical skills, once in, ur technical skills are tested. there are lot of ppl with splendid analytical skills but not very good technical abilities. what you heard from your seniors is true. the training program is exhaustive, and any average person shld easily manage to sail through it if he/she sticks to the study plan. the problem is when you start to explore the campus and have fun with friends more than the studies. believe me most ppl including me, end up doing the latter.

2.I heard there is no growth in infy.

well thats not completely true. what is true is the fact that growth in Infy is extremely competitive. in an organization with more than 60,000 employees growth does not come with respect to time spent in an organization. there are various parameters that judge an employees competency, and growth is based purely on that front.

3.In my college there is no multiple placements.Suppose I get placed in Infy,I cant attend other companies.
So I am confused whether to attend Infy or not based on these myths.

well thats for you to decide. attend the placement of the company which you most want to get into. while ur technical skills are tested during training, the actual production phase does not require you to have strong technical knowledge. its more about the clients domain and stuff. im from a mechanical background, and im pretty ok with the work here, even though im not strong technically

feel free to get back in case you have more questions

Sham, Distance learning has never been my area of interest, so i don't know much about it.
from the little i know, Distance education does not have as much value as compared to the classroom MBA program or Full time MBA program.
there is certainly a difference in value depending upon the university you get ur MBA from. i would recommend you to search a lot more on this front. there was an article sometime back about a guy who did his MBA from IIMB while at Infy. it was in Sparsh, so u might be interested in digging around a bit

i don't see how much of a difference it will make during your appraisal. there never is an ideal time for getting ur masters. but weigh your options a lot. in case you feel that u can prepare for CAT/GMAT then go for an attempt next year.
hope it helps

Hi Puys,

Gud to see an active Infy thread :)
I have 3.5 yrs of exp in IT and planning for a shift.

I have interview with Infy next week and need some info from you guys.
If my performance post joining Infy is gud enough, how are the Onsite offers in Infy?
Primary reason for my shift is Onsite so pls lemme know abt this

How much is an 3.5 exp paid by INFY? Currently I am getting 5.7 L P/A.
If I do well in the interview and my profile is good enough ,can I expect at least a 15 % hike from Infy ?

I will be grateful if some one can answer these questions.

Regards,
Honey

well Onsite opportunity is very good in Infy, primarily because of the VISA restrictions put by the US government. there are plenty of people who are eligible to travel onsite, but are not being sent as they don't have VISA. so if u already have an H1B Visa, or if ur from a computer science background, Infy will process your VISA and depending on ur ability to understand business quickly, they will send you Onsite.
be advised, let Onsite not be the reason for the shift, as it is something very unpredictable. it should not be a decision you regret later on.

that depends. if ur role is of a software engineer, then u will be earning around the same. if they give you the role of a PA then u should be seeing around 6lpa figure. again, it all depends on how well you can haggle, and also what are the exclusive skill sets you possess

Infy has a tie up with IGNOU and BIM, so if ur interested in doing MBA, you can probably learn more about what it actually stands for.
Infy also has tie-ups with some other colleges for MTECH too.
i was never interested in these, so i didn't learn more about them.

infact, during the first day, we had a presentation where they let us know of the various possibilities for higher studies. no one really gave a shit about them at that point of time. but u can keep your ears open and ask enough questions and get ur doubts clarified.

as for you joining date, what is it that u exactly want to know? most information about these are actually better learnt from the HR.

Yes, what u heard is true. the placement test of Infy is completely aptitude based and nothing technical will be asked during the interview stage too (Unless your from the computer or IS background)
Infy will put you through a rigorous training program, and test will be conducted regularly. you need to perform well in these tests or the company will terminate you from services

package of 3.25 lpa means that you will get around 20K on hand. the usual deduction like PF and tax will be applicable. about 2K every month from you salary will be training incentive. it will be paid once you complete training. so in case u have 5 months of training, you will be paid 10K at the completion of you training. also, there will be a deduction of about 1500 Rs for hostel rent. its best that u refer to your pay on a per month basis rather than refer to it per annum.
giving pay as per annum is the smartest way corporates use to blow up the salary figure.

finally, I'm preparin for CAT and want to know hw hectic the schedules are at infy... can one mange CAT prep with the workload?
thanks in advance :)

well on an average you will have lots of time. needless to say, its on how u manage time that determines how much of it you utilize. there can be a situation where u are put in a highly critical project that requires you to slog for 10 or 12 hours a day, and thats when things can get messy.
all said and done, YES u will get ample time

I don't know what to add to that Josh,
joinign date is something that we cant comment on. we have no idea of how Infy calls people, on what basis are the batches made, how the training cycle is decided, these are things we don't know a thing about.

Infy is certainly recovering well from the US recession, and most people who get offers are called to join the company on a particular date. so keep your fingers crossed and prepare for CAT. hopefully Infy calls you after CAT. you need to sign a 1 year bond in Infy, and if they call you after CAT, then u can decide if you will take the offer or not depending on you performance

Hi Bharath,

Thanks for your reply:)
I agree with you about US VISA issues. But as Infy does lots of Non-US projects, I think the onsite opps to other countries are good until they don't contrain VISA process like US. Pls let me know your opinion on this.

I might be part of IVS Team. How are the growth prospects in IVS? Most probably my role wud be Test Analyst( I was told during the Interview).During the interview I was told the prospects are good.

1) 65% of Business of Infy comes from US alone. so the rest is just 35%, and of that about 40% is business in India, so that means you have about 18% chance of being in a project whose client is outside India, but other than in US. in other words, the chance of you getting a non-US client is very low. having said that, we do have clients in most major countries

2) IVS as you already know is a testing IBU. All you need to do is test the completed applications using various test cases. some ppl like this Unit a lot as you get a wholesome exposure to the application. Others feel it is not a very analytical kind of work. so the call is urs. if you think u will like it you will.

3) Show me one job interview where they speak negative of the work on offer?
