i am Sham, completed my Bsc graduation with computer science back ground this year. I got selected to Wipro and Infosys through campus placements. Now i am confused to select one among big two as both are providing me good openings.
Wipro is providing me MS from Bits Phillaney but has got a four year bond in this programme and the pay scale is also too low. Where as Infosys is providing me a good double pay scale than wipro and has got no bond.

Can i know the best out of two?

well comparing the companies are actually tough
they are the same on most frontiers.

if ur interested in the MS degree then Wipro is a good bet as it helps u achieve this dream. however, be very careful. you never know what are the hidden loop holes for this. so enquire from ppl. and also the pay scale is less, so that one of the factors u need to consider.

as for Infy, since the pay scale u said is higher, if ur looking at working for some time and then shifting to a diff job, then its better to work for a company that pays you more, so that you have more options at the end of it.

so if i have to decide, then it wld be mainly on the MS degree. if i need it or not, and if i do, then has it got to be from BITS. cause if ur getting this degree elsewhere, then u rather work for a company that pays u more

As long as ur in Wipro, u can do ur MS only in BITS. be clear as to is there any bond after u complete ur MS. if there isn't any, then there are no issues, u can leave Wipro and work in any good company based on ur recruitment . if there is any bond, then u might have to compulsorily work in Wipro till ur bond is completed.

In case of Infy, the choice is all urs. you can get ur degree from any college.

More over many of my Seniors has recommended me to join Infy as after i complete four years MS from wipro they aren't going to provide any experience certificate and i will be looked as a fresher in the field.


So mostly i prefer Infy. Is the decision which i am taking right? More over we can get a post graduation through distance or through infy after one year.

At the time when i joined Infy had some tie up with IGNOU and Bharatidasan university.
so u can get ur Post graduate degree from there.

As i have mentioned in the earlier posts that i am a graduate from BSc background am i going to face any kind of problems i mean passing through the tests which are kept at infy in the training period as many of my friends and seniors are saying that in the training period infy filters a lot and eliminates many from the group. is it so?

On what terms will the training will be and on what terms would the exams be conducted? can u give me a detailed picture about the training period at infy? plz

i have not much idea between the difference from a junior software engineer and Asst software engineer. btw, offer letters don't arrive to ppl all at the same time, due to delay in various fronts, the letters get delayed sometimes.
if ur worried, then its better to call them up.

computer programming can be learnt by anyone who has aptitude. there isn't much prerequisite for leaning programming. so i don't think u will be having problems in that front.
since ur not from Comp Sc, ur training will be for atleast 5 months. you will be taught various programming languages and then a test will be conducted at the end of every module.

Let me correct u if I am not wrong .........U must be in testing .....I mean u must be in Assistant Engineer -Testing.......Isnt it???? As only B.Sc graduates have been taken in Testing and all other B.Tech students have been absorbed in programming.......Our's is not programming there....I am also frm Allahabad and got selecetd in Infy in Feb-22 when there was recruitment drive of Infy at AU.........I think u were also one of us who got selected frm AU but not frm the AU .......U might have been frm ECC or any other college.......My joining is on Nov -19th at Bhubaneshwar Infocity and wat abt ur's........If u wanna contact me ........post ur contact no here

No Ritnesh, i didn't get selected from any Allahabad Universities as my proper is Hyderabad and i got selected in Hyderabad in Jan/Feb and my training is at Myosre. But keep in touch as it feels good.

As u mentioned in the earlier post that i would have my training period for almost 5 months, i didn't get that clearly as we had C, C++ and DBMs to a certain extent. so in this consideration for how much period would my training period would be and will the candidate from Bsc background be put in the Testing stream? plz do reply...

Cool, remember going forward, that any doubts u have regarding ur joining formalities its better to ask infy guys directly rather than post a query here.

if you are a Comp Sc graduate, then a couple of days after u join the company, there will be a small test conducted. the test will determine if u will be put in short or long cycle.
incase u have learnt the concepts, then clearing the tests is not a problem. but in case concepts are not clear, u will be put in long cycle.

actually, if ur knowledge in concepts is just basic, then its better u are put into long cycle. cause otherwise learbing the things they teach in such a short time becomes very difficult.

that shld be specified in ur offer letter.
i think i remember u telling me, that ur post is Asst Software engineer. that means u wld be 95% in development.

the reason why i have kept the margin of 5% is that, infy has a new Business unit called IVS. its all about testing. so after training if ur put into IVS, then ur work wld be more of testing related and less of development.

but other than that, ur post wont be changed from what has been mentioned in ur offer letter

don't keep such doubts in mind. call them up or mail them.
posting such things here doesn't help much u see. u need to know the reason for the change in ur post, and only they can answer that.

As soon as i realized that it's better for me to mail infy people i mailed them regarding the matter, but the mistake i did in my first mail was that i didn't mention my reference number but only mentioned my candidate id number to [email protected]. It took nearly three days for the reply and today i got a reply asking me to mention the reference number and i mentioned it in reply to the same mail.

now what would be a better thing to do from my point? stick around and wait for the reply or to make a call to the infy Bangalore tomorrow?

advice me...

you can call them up.
if they tell u to mail the query, tell them u have already done that.
they might ask u to wait for the reply, but atleast u can try to ask them the query.

infact, they might have given u a contact number in ur offer letter. if they have, then call up that number

Hey sham,
The role of Jr. s/W engg is rechristened as Asst. S/W engg.
Also if it for a specific unit, as might have been told to you during the pre test talk, It can be Asst. S/W engineer - IMS etc.
So no need to worry.
