hi bharath.... k i ll try to learn all those programming languages... im doing my final yr....still i didnt get my offer letter.. what kind of exams they r conducting....??? how many exams r there??? how many should i clear?? sat abt the accomodation??and also foods??? shall i learn .NET??? will it be useful???
hey chill dude,
im a mechanical engineer too, and i was so bad at programming that i cld hardly code a simple logic in C programming. partly it was cause i never concentrated on the programming classes we had while i was in college, and partly cause i never thought i wld need it in future.
well ur right in knowing that the training is tough, but its not impossible, as mechanical engineers we need to work hard, maybe put in much more effort that what needs to be put.
but then again, its all on how u manage ur time, party hard, but when ur studying don't waste time. i shouldn't be saying this, but since all the computers in one class is connected to a network, u can play any multilayer games inside, but keep that to a limit. its definitely possible,
if ur thinking of what concepts to know, then knowing a liottle bit of C programming, SQL concepts and if possible C++ concepts will be great

they teach you programming languages and after the end of every language, you will have to take a module test. each test is graded and inorder for u to take the final test you have to have some minimum grade points
there will be 2 final exams and you will have to clear both. if u fail in one, then you can take a re exam, but if you fail in both u will be terminated.
accomodation is awesome, infy mysore campus is nothing short of a 5 start resort. food though is just OK
.NET..........well it depends, initially you will be put in a general stream, after that you will get a specific stream, and that might be anything from java to mainframes to .NET. so if ur interested u can study

Some of my opinion.... Dont worry so much abt the training............a average engg student with a bit of sincere effort can easily clear the exam.... u dont have to worry abt accommodations n food ...infy will take care of everything...there r 3 food courts with several caterers which provide south indian aas well as north indian food.. hai my advice is jus have ur concepts clear coz even if now u enroll into a programming classes, there is no ceratinty tht u ll be trained in tht stream or not and eventually working on it... :| so concentrate on ur final sem n MBA prep..... its a good time to gear up ur prep for CAT 😃

I too agree with sony007. There is nothing to worry about training as long as you are sincere towards the same. In my batch the best trainee was a Mech Engg.

Hi Nitin,
Your 10th and 12th % as mentioned in your resume is ok as far as getting a job is concerned and your B Tech is also fine. So getting a job would not be an issue. But the issue is when you get a call for the same. There are no particular strategies for the same, however try hard to find a job. There are certain companies like TCS and all that conduct walk-ins. Try your luck there. You can get more info about these and many other jobs on Freshersworld.com :: A Complete Portal for Fresh Engineers. and on its forums.
Just try these things and also pray to God; that is important. I am in infosys not only because of my efforts but also due to god's grace.

Yes this rule is still valid!!! But if you have some, then you need to declare them.

When is your Date Of Joining? If it is 28th and you are also getting acco, then the acco will be from a day before that is 27th. Just onfirm it once from the HR.
date of joining is 28th august . they say details of accomodation will be provided 4 5 days prior to joining date . have been asked to report at hebbal electronics city at 8 am on 28 aug . no i am not in short cycle

couple of things i assumed
1) the joining batch always joins on a Monday 2) the first 1 week is orientation, followed by an English competitiveness class on the first 2 days of the following week 3) classes begin on the third day of the second week, after joining
so considering all this, ur statements somehow don't seem to fit. anyways i see that 28th August is a tuesday, so that means u need to be there on either sunday or Monday.i wld suggest you to call up preet kushalapa, she might give you more clarification on the same.
one more thing, these days, the training center in Mysore is running in full capacity, so there is a very good possibility that you might be required to stay in the city and not be provided accommodation on campus. confirm anyways from the authorities
Guys - I have joined Infy year back. Now, I want to move to different unit inside Infy. But I understand that movement across Unit is very very difficult.
What are the ways avilable to move to different Unit there?
In worst case, if I am not getting transfer to other Unit, Can I resign and join back Infy? Do they recruit the ex- Infy employees / Is there any policies for that?

as far as i know, its not allowed to move into a different IBU, all that u have to do is pester them to give you a transfer. if ur lucky they might move u to a different ibu else u might be put in the same IBU in a different location.
everything is actually possible, but its the HR guys who do all the nakras.
off late i see in sparsh a column called return back to Infosys it features ppl who quit infosys and then joined back afer working for sometime elsewhere. if u need to be taken back i guess working somewhere is also important

well, work hard, impress ur seniors and do well in the appraisals. u will be promoted.
but dont expect to be promoted to a PM before 7-8 years.
Bharath P.S-i cant believe ppl asking such questions to us. we are employees to, and its pretty obvious that promotion is linked to a lot of things. ask genuine queries if at all you have any
