umm... well... exactly that! You won't see an algorithm! 😃
dude...can u elaborate on as to why a CS degree would become a handicap?? what do u xactly mean by "we wont c an algorithm ever...etc."
Manish.
CS degree can be a handicap, cause most people who are from CS background would have learnt very little about any programming language when in college. ;)
this im saying from the experience what my friends have told me.
so now, here we have someone, who knows not much about C programming, but infy believes that since he is from CS background, he must be familiar with most things and thus puts him into Short Cycle.
where he is made to study things three times faster than a non-CS background guy.
This as far as i know is the only handicap

@ bharat- but what snkutty PM'ed me, is that there is no programming, and infoscions' just audit cobol code for some bank or client!! is that true? wouldn't that be a handicap, when we wanna join some other company after work-ex...bcos we don't have s/w developing experience!??!

no dude
not at all.
i have been in infy for the past 1 year, and right from the time i have been put into a project i've been coding.
initially in Mainframe and now in UNIX.
but sadly there are a lot of people who do not much work.
u just have to hope that u dont get into something like that

Am in Infy for the past 18 months.
ALL you need to do is to get grade 'A' finally - here ur salary depends upon ur trng. performance - u'd surely know this.
So get down to studying -
1. Pick up 'Let us C ' by yashwant kanetkar ...and go through the part till multi-link list
2. Read up PL/SQL from Ivan Bayross. (don't remember till whr - atleast do half of it).
this should give u a footing whn u land @ infy.
all the best !
so is it like i would be put in coding or testing if i dont have any deep knowledge? and what exactly is the mantra for growth in infy?
racklking Saysso is it like i would be put in coding or testing if i dont have any deep knowledge? and what exactly is the mantra for growth in infy?
Dude ....u are just starting out........and u'r asking abt. mantra's.
Come here - u'll understand the mantra for success, and allocation to projects/business unit.
As of now ....don't waste time, (and space here on Pg), asking ques. abt. thngs abt. which neither can u do anything, nor can u understand.
The next promotion would happen in 3 years - and if u stick arnd tht long - u'll understand.
Infy is a good company, n u'll learn (only if u want to !)

That's it !
I'm headed out of Infy - going to a B-school !
thanx anyws.... and shud i say congrats!:)
@rackling.
matra for growth...
1. ladkiyon ke piche nahin bhagne kaa
2. dusro ke kaam me taang adaneka...
3. hassi majjak kam karneka
4. buttering karneka....
nw on a serious note...
be sincere, smart, buttering marnewale....

humm..i'd agree with some points.
The way I see thngs as of now -
at the beginning of ur career (whichever company you head to), besides the hard skills (which are extremely imp....i'd say 2nd most), there is some other attribute, which has a major role.
It'll depend on the team's requirements, the manager ..and a lot of other factors.
In my case - my manager preferred me over others (despite me not being the best technically -coding wise), as from the beginning I showed commitment to the project, owned up responsibility and did the work on time.
All i'd suggest now is - get ur technical basics right, work smart, have fun (people love to have folks who work and have fun), and learn on a continuous basis.
You are just starting out........form ur own rules and learn your own lessons !
atb !
hi guys .whats up,no remarks from u people for quite some time now!!
sarnadeep Sayswell , i've got through the selection process of infy. will get the offer letter within 2 months. But there.s a slight hitch in this.there was this space to mention my lens power.well i did write it but without the minus sign.Secondly in the marks section i wrote 83.33% in I.S.c instead of 83.83%. Are these serious mistakes.Could u guys get informations about this.
lens power- nobdy is bothered abt that. its just the formality. So relax.
writing marks lesser than what actually u hav doesnt make any diff......anywes even if it wer other way round then also 0.5% doesnt make a diff. to t'm.
thanks mate. r u working at infy by any chance or do u know someone who works there. i need some info abt infy.

waise dekha jaye to IBM......packagewise IBM may b is better.
but,
if its only testing job in store for u ther then infy has few benefits.
infy's training is just too good....especially for people like us....non-comp background.....4 months of trng is quite a value addtn.....my opinion.

2ndly, if u plan to appear for mba entrances in coming yr. then i gues in infy u wud get time to study for t'm....even after being in project (frm experience.:))
Hi all I am in DAIICT gandhinagar.. placed in infy May last year... no signs of joining date yet, though my seniors got their joining date as 29th May and they got the letter from infy just 2 weeks before the date... so I think this time also they are going to live up to their past reputation...
btw what are the languages they work in at infosys? C, C++, Cobol? I heard they dont train in JAVA in their training period...
howler SaysHi all I am in DAIICT gandhinagar.. placed in infy May last year... no signs of joining date yet, though my seniors got their joining date as 29th May
the joining date varies a lot dude.
it depends on your background and the availability of a similar batch for training.

JAVA is not the only domain they train u on
they trained me on OS which includes UNIX, C++,VB and oracle
they also have Mainframe and .Net training programes
as for the domain we work in, it is very vast
and its absolutly not required that u must get work on a domain ur trained in.
after being trained in UNIX and VB i was put to work in Maniframes
