hi guys.. i got placed at infy during a campus pgm... rite now im doing my 7th sem in Electronics And comm... the problem is i had a practical lab exam recently.. and it was so hard... the question i got as was really tough and i hadnt done nething like that bfore... and the external Teacher killed me with the viva-voce *sigh* so there's a good chance i wnt pass that exam.. could any one tell me what's Infy's position on supplementary's..?. i mean if u have a bad paper at the date of joining do they reject you straight away or is there some other action they take??. i would really appreciate it if some one could help me with this thanks.. p.s i have an aggregate of 70%...
This is not only for Infy but also for others too. You should not have any backs at the time of joining. So, when you get your call for joining and still you have to clear papers, then get your joining delayed or you can ask your placement officer to arrange for so!!
As far as your percentage is concern, you have no issues with that, however a percentage with a back is equally good as a low percentage(>60).

well dude, as palak said, infy does not let u join, if u have papers to be answered, or even your results are yet to be announced.
in our batch of training, on the day of joining, there was a guy from delhi, who had his 8th sem results pending. he came to mysore all the way from delhi, and he was sent back on the first day at infy.
sure, he joined a later batch, but its still an uncomfortable experince. so make sure you have ur 8th sem marks card before you join infy.
as for your marks, it depends on your university. infy has cut-off marks based on universities
I would like to know what the pay package is for a person who joined infy as a fresher in 2004, and at this point (Jan 2007) has 2 yrs of experience. What would be the current pay pkge for him? Also will it be the same with the other giants as well..like CTS, Wipro, Satyam, TCS..?

well pay package depends primarily on the performance of the individual. an approx figure would be 30k per month. its again very tough to compare pay with other companies. but one thing i have found out during my staty in infosys is tht, compared to other software companies infosys beleives in genuine wealth sharing.
so during any milestone events, infy wld share wealth with you,(something you see very less of in TCS or Wipro)

Thanks bharath.. for taking time to reply! Good luck and regards, aparna
my test was only quants. though tis was some time back, so dont know if the pattern has been changed.
btm @ hell, the interviews are generally only to test if u can speak something atleast. most of the times infy does not kick anyone who clears the written test. a couple of my friends were asked puzzles too during the interviews and they did not answer it. but they are here.
Does infosys have any opening for someone who did his b.e. In electrical engineering, and thereafter has been working in a power generation company (thermal power plant) since the last 3 years. Knows only how to use ms office and the internet when it comes to computers.

Any chance?
Since you already have 3 years experience in a power plant it would be better if you continue in that line only, else go for an MBA. If you plan to join infosys now I don't think you would be doing justice to the experience you have in your field. And also Infosys may not recognize your experience and you would have to start as a fresher all over again! There were some people in my batch who had 2+ years experience in power plants and steel companies but they joined Infosys as a fresher, which I could not understand as it makes no sense. So you can think over it and decide.
PS- Your location is Jamshedpur. Are you by any chance in TaTa Power?
A lot depends on your needs and interests. A friend of mine was in a similar situation (but with 2 years of exp). He did get the interview call, but he declined it and went for MBA instead. What Bharat said is true. But although you do start of as a fresher, and your salary & job bands are more or less same, your experience does come in hand further on as your IT exp increases. For e.g. in Infy, avg exp to become a module leader ranges between 3 to 4 years. But for people like you, if you show the necessary qualities and roles, it can be shorter. So if you are thinking long term (5 years+), then it might be justified, or you could look for alternatives.

I totally agree with Murthy and Ninja Talli. However, yes Infosys also caters to people with exp in other fields. If you really want to join then see for the Fresher Recruitment Advt in nespapers.

Hi Infy will contact you through email or any other means. But that doesn't mean that you keep waiting. You also need to follow-up with them. Most probably you will get call by the end of your degree or may be later. All the best!!
hi....i have been placed in both infosys and accenture..through campus selection
im in final year btech in computer science..and will joining in ard june 2007 both companies are offering almost similar package ..ard 2.7
oh, i thought accenture gives u more!!! if both companies are giving u the same package, then the choice is really tough Infy is a good place to work, but then again it depends on ur project, the type of work ur given, so on.... so its really very tough to say infy is far better, or accenture is better option. if ur aim is to stick to the company, then infy is not the place. so many ppl, so much competition, it feels like u will go nowhere. if ur planning for mba, maybe infy is the place to be .

can anyone evaluate ,,the pros and cons of both companies so i can decide upon which company to join ? for a fresher wat do u think is the best option ?
For a fresher, anything is a best option. This is a thread to help and resolve queries on Infosys and people within it. We really can't help comparing companies out here. My view might not go the same with Bharat's or anybody else. So decide on your own. And yes, Infy is worth it. So get in touch with some accenture guys and sort it out.

The reasons could vary a lot. But did both of you send to the same location-office? If yes, then do call them up. (your friend would have got a number) If no, then i would suggest you to wait for some more days. Different offices might take diff time as per their work-schedule.
As for other companies, upload your resume on job sites; as well as look out for fresher-walkins as they come. 😃
