Hi palak ,
I am Venu from Pune and i attended infy interview on 11th sept.
Till date the results are not announced.U seem to be the right person
to let me know when the results would be expected.
Do you know anyone from Pune who has got the confirmation mail.
Thanks.
whether there will be eliminations in training?
how they will eliminate ?
i m afraid of that.......

There is nothing like *eliminations* in training. Once Infosys takes in a bunch of people, it provides facilities to one and all to get through. Then it's upto the induvidual to study and get through the training. Just like your college exams. There's a min passing marks, if you get over that, no sweat.

In addition, in case you don't pass, you have an additional attempt at the exams. So stay cool. And yea, congrats for makin it thru! :)

@uvenumadhav, it's against the forum rules to put up mail ids or phone numbers. If you want to share your mail id with palak, pm palak. Edit and remove your id from your prev post. Anyway by your exam date, there's a good time for the results to come out. If you can't wait, get the contact details from palak's previous scraps and call them up.

Hi Venu,
Dont panic. There is lot of time for you to wait for the results. The result can take from 4 days to few weeks. But your hopes can live till you dont get Rejection Letter. So cool down. If you want to contact the authorities, then see my previous posts.

One thing more. Remove your email id from your post. It is against the forum's rule. Moderators may even ban you for this. If you want you can PM (send a private message) me.

Hi balaji,

I prefer to differ from Ninja_talli. Yes there are eliminations in training based on your performance in the tests. But as Ninja told you they give you chance to clear the tests. So just study hard and clear in first attempt. So there will be no elimination for you. ATB!!

PS:- I started posting on this thread with post # 552. It is now 976. Just miss the old days when I had joined Infy on 27th March!! :(

Happy Dussehra!!!!

Experinced guys (3 - 5 years) on this forum working in Infosys, please come up and raise a flag. I would like to ask some questions as private. I do not want them to be asked in public since there are more specific to my personal needs.

Hi,
As per your query regarding training, I would start as follows:-
There are two type of batches:- Short Cycle and Long Cycle. Short Cycle is for those CS guys/gals who clear the test at the time of induction. The rest go for Long Cycle. Short Cycle is 1 to 1.5 months and Long Cycle is approx 4 months. The long cycle training is distributed over two phases:- Generic and Stream Specific. In Generic, they teach you basics of Computer Science that include Comp H/w, RDBMS, Programming Fundas, Algos, Networking, Internet, etc. The Stream Specific training is the training on the specific technology like Mainframes, JAVA/J2EE, Open Systems, etc. There are tests after every module and Comprehensive test after every Phase. Comprehensive test include both Objective Type questions and Practical Exam.

I think this must have answered your query. If you have more issues do post it.

Just adding a lil more info...
That was the long cycle. For the short cycle, the generic hase is compressed, to around 2 weeks, where you have RDBMS (they expect you to know the other basic subjects of Comp Eng) then you have a generic test. After that the training batch is divided into 3 streams Open Systems, Internet Systems and Mainframes (recently they also introduced .Net Streams at some places, don't know if it is offered all over the training batches till now) Choice of stream is not offered, and the ratio is mostly decided based on the fresher-stream-requirements by various IBUs.
Then you have a month long training (includes a mini-project), and a comprehensive test at the end. Cumlative marks(generic & stream) are considered for your banding.

Just to add a word from my side. Internet Stream is now not a stream, it is now under JAVA/J2EE.

to add another point, which might make sraavya a bit more relaxed is that, it is generally beleived ,training for CS guys is much more easy.......simply because most of the concepts they learn are already known to them
i was not a CS student and i had a tough time in long cycle........... but then at the end of the day its all how u take things tht really matters......
