to add another point, which might make sraavya a bit more relaxed is that, it is generally beleived ,training for CS guys is much more easy.......simply because most of the concepts they learn are already known to them
i was not a CS student and i had a tough time in long cycle........... but then at the end of the day its all how u take things tht really matters......

In my batch, most of the CS people faced problems rather than non-CS ones

hi. What is this BAND thing all about.
i know that there are 7 bands.but what do they signify.
i am yet to join infy,i have non IT background.
i am assigned a band B.
is it a good thing ,bad thing or the band assigned to all freshers.??:

All new joinees (Freshers) are put in band B ( or B1 to be specific) till you complete your first year at Infy.After that it is B2. You have two bands in Infy.
Job band and Personal band, both will be B now. Don't worry about them for a year atleast. Let me know if u have any specific query.

All new joinees (Freshers) are put in band B ( or B1 to be specific) till you complete your first year at Infy.After that it is B2. You have two bands in Infy.

A Job Band refers to the specififc Band to which the job is attached.

Personal Band refers to the individual's competency level vis-a-vis the competencies reqd. of the role. The Personal Band determines the compensation and benefits as applicable to you. In no case can the Personal Band be higher than the Job Band. A promotion is defined as a movement from a lower Personal Band to a higher Personal Band.

I think this should suffice your doubts regarding Bands in Infosys.

B1 & B2 are just terminology used. On paper, both belong to band B. B1, B2 are used to differentiate during appraisal, or grouping portfolio members etc....

Btw we are delving deep into this banding thing, far more than what @jcd requested! 😃 Can use PM or mail for further discussion on it!

Jcd, it's the normal thing to be assigned to a fresher!

hi guys ,thanks 4 the info.

now i have a tricky question.

i have been preparing 4 cat for the last 6 months.

the mockcat scores are not exceptional(85-90 types),but i wanna give it a shot.

but since i am jobless now infy is also important.

the only possibility that i see is to extend the joining date.

do u guys know anyone who has done this and on what grounds.

There are no *believeable excuses* and certainly you should not expect to get answers to such requests here.
But same Question has been asked before (conflict betn joining & cat), and answered; search in the last 4-5 pages.

As far as i know, short cycle was for CS people, and long cycle for non-CS people. Also during my time (training), if a person flunks twice in the final exam, he is supposed to do the long cycle training again. Never had heard of a person doing it, but that was the rules.

well as far as my memory goes, if you are referring to HYD infy DC, there are approx 2000+ people

And if you are refering to the city, then... kya batau

Test is all about CS stuff. Yes, those CS students who didn't cleared got Long Cycle.

hey congrats to yu palak mathur fr completing 100 posts......wel fr an activity in ths thread why don yu write us about ur work experience in infy.......how s life working fr infy...do u hav any regrets ????......is th work too hectic or els kool thr.....???? how wud yu simply define infy in a single word.......???????
