You will shortly get or should have already recieved a hard copy of the offer. That hard copy will have email ID's for the co-ordinator. Contact him. The generic email ID for freshers is available on www.infosys.com. You should be able to find it with a little effort.

Hey guys I have exam on 24th sept.I heard the pattern has been changed and now I don't know whether to prepare for puzzles or logical reasoning. Please help me guys!!

hahahaha.... this never happens! believe me!!!!

Please mention the batch (e.g. Sep 2005 Long cycle at Mysore, etc) i'll be all the more glad to get more info on this asap.

For the rest, believe me it never happens!

The reason is very simple. Infy spends quite a few lakhs on every trainee who undergoes the training procedure (now with trainings being held at only mysore, at a world class campus, it's even more) Consider this, at the end of the training, if a person fails, and is chucked out, infy does not make any revenue (read profit) on this. Of course, by passing him, it's degrading on the "quality". But believe me, you don't need excellent programming skills to survive in indian IT where there are entire Departments (known as PU) to perform Black Box Testing (google it to know what it is) and you definitely don't need brains for that.

This is a fact, not just a guess.

I don't exactly know the batch but it must be the May lc1 or lc2 batch. The thing is infy is being very strict with its training and they have now totally done away with the orals and re-orals. Earlier they used to give a lot more chances for people to scrape through but now they are being less patient. And with the huge numbers they are recruiting(1500-1700 per batch) they absolutely won't mind chucking out 19 odd people. Iam not trying to scare the people here or anything but just stating the rules infy has in place for the trainees now. And of course regarding throwing out of people the decision clearly rests with the ENR people and HR.

An old joke
There's a signboard outside Infy main gate which reads "Trespassers wil be recruited". :grab:

Hi PGites,

I am back after a long gap. Sorry for being offline for so many days.

Hi Murty,

Yes, you are right INfy is strict and stringent about the training. Yes many people were removed from the service due to their failure in exams. This is not to scare but to warn that take the training seriously.

Hi Vasundhara,

You are on right thread. Regarding what you need t study or not is all upto you. Since you are from CS background just brush up your subjects well. Like OS, Analysis of Algorithm, etc. Also brush up your language skills like C++, JAVA (assuming that you already know them). If you dont know them already then it is you to decide whether you want to learn them. But let me tell you that Infy trains u in the stream in which there is requirements in it. However it is always advantageous to learn new things.

I got a job offer from infy when they visited our campus a cpl months back..i am preparing for CAT 06 and realistically speaking chances of BLACKI seem very bleak...based on my mock cat scores i may get a cpl of calls.
i was wondering how difficult it'd be to join infy and prepare for CAT 07..

need some expert advice on this..

Depends.....................on a lot of things actually.
firstly the kinda project ur put into, if the platform ur working on is familiar to u tht means u wld not have to slog.............tht cld actually buy u some time to study.
if otherwise then u will be staying in infy till 9 p.m or even more, so tht makes studying during the weekdays a lill tough.
but all said and done u have the weekends to prepare.
which hopefully will be free unless its the project delivery time.
so its upto u how u manage time.
as they say where there is will there is way..............:-)

regards,
bharath

Well prabhakar, its upto you, what do you treat as a priority. If you feel work is priority, then you may end up slogging day in and day out.:robot: But if you feel belling the cat is more imp, then make a concious effort to take time off. And finally, dont even bother to go for those coaching centres. Get their material, and be throrugh with the sylabus. I have cracked the CAT with very minimum perps.

Finally, the feeling you get when you write CAT with a safe job in a big company is uncomparable. You always know that if CAT goes down, you still have a job... :satisfie:

Hullo vasundhara... if you go thru the offer letter, they'll have put up a list of subjects you need to brush up (atleast my offer letter did ) the result? none of them were necessary! Take it easy, no stress. If you have free time, brush up a bit on your programming skills basically C&Java; and a bit of RDBMS. But nothing else much needed. Any additional skills you have (e.g. certifications, or sound deep knowledge in any language or technology) is a big plus point definitely but not a pre-requisite!

For all, the curriculum of Infy training is not tough, especially for CSE guys, it shouldn't be at all tough! (unless you been nappin all those 4 years! )
The training is meant to teach you the skills, anything you know is an advantage. First you have a general set of subjects which focuses on RDBMS skills mainly. Then you are selectively put into diff streams like C&OS;, Java, etc and the trainging goes ahead from there.

For PPl who are interested in MBA, @prabhakar, my advice is:- focus on the training during the training period, take a break from MBA studies during that period, and continue later.... it would be easier for you rather than shuffling both at the same time. :)

I said earlier, and I say again, it's not an herculean task to complete the Infy training schedule. You just need to show normal competence, and work at normal schedules, no night outs reqd. But if you dilli-dally, then probably you might put yourself into trouble. Otherwise it's fun all the way! Believe me, my best time in infy has been my training periods. Pressure was never an issue.

@murthy, @rajatc, @palak, u guys (hope i didnt miss no dudettes there) are doin a good job... i keep missin out the queries on this thread, henceforth I too will keep an eye on this thread.

Keep rockin!

Some of my friends attended interview five months back (five years exp category). Both HR & technical. But till now they didn't get any response from them. They sent few follow up mails. No response. They didn't get rejection letter neither.

What does this mean?

It doesn't mean anything. On an avg, Infosys calls thousands for written tests and interviews. It might not be possible to send rejection letters or follow up mails to each and every one on time. I have got a few colleagues who got their offer letter months after givin the test and interview...

Patience dude! if you think you have waited long enough, call them up!

Did your friends check their e-mail inboxes? Mails are sent without fail.:bigups:
