i got a call frm infy,it says reaport at mohali on sep4. does that mean that my training will be in mohali only and then the posting also??
Hey Cute Maverick, Welcome to PG. The Mohali posting will only be for the training period if you are a fresher. If you are a lateral, then I am not sure.
Also, even if you are a fresher, there might be a chance that you get to stay in Mohali. Nothing is fixed. Even if you are posted to Mohali, you should be ready to travel to other DC's as they shuffle a lot depending on requirements and projects.

Hi there, 1. CS background goes into what is called short cycle. 2. 6-8 weeks is the duration. 3. They do not eliminate anyone!! PERIOD!! 4. The assessments are really not that tough to clear and score. 5. ALL the BEST!!!!
I got a call to attend the Infy test for experienced in chennai coming sunday...Do anybody of you know how the test wud be...whether they wud be puzzles similar to that of fresher tests or it wud be different for experienced...I have 2 yrs experience and have applied for infy....
Hi Rajat Thanx for the info. well, i wanted to ask one more thing .What is an induction programme . Infy ppl. had specified in the offer letter thet there will be an inducton programme before thetraining.
Go through the call letter thoroughly check whether they mention anywhere that it is Aptitude test for you. If you are not clear to be on a safer side 'be prepared' for the test also.
Go through previous papers and try to solve them on a time bounded environment, this will do i hope

After a year, I joined engineering college once I scored high marks through improvement scheme. But I did not project this gap in Infy application form. Will this be caught by HR team if offer is made? What level of verification will they do for validating our marks? Will they approach any goverment agencies to validate 10th, 12th, college marks?

I think they ask you to declare any gaps in your career in the form. Anyway it would have been wise of you to project that gap in your career. You should be careful while making entries in the Infy application form coz they verify each and every detail. Like for example they ask you to take into consideration even all your elective subjects(regardless of whether your univ. took them into consideration while calculating your percentage) while entering your percentage score. Some wise people in my batch skipped some subjects and this caused their percentages to shoot up a little. After ENR verification they were asked to leave. It happened to 2 people in my batch. And regarding verification they just see that you have entered all your marks and what you have entered is correct. They won't approach any agencies to validate your marks.

All of you guys who are joining infy...get it clear that people are thrown out for underperforming. The training is given in two parts 1) generic training 2) stream specific training. For short cycle guys it is different. And there are module tests after each module and you are required to score 65% in order to pass. There is one generic comprehensive exam and one stream comprehensive exam at the end of generic and stream specific training respectively. And regarding the retests there is only one retest opportunity given for these two exams combined. That is if you flunk in the generic compre exam you need to clear the stream compre exam at the first attempt...else it shall be curtains. And given the quality of training they impart at infy it should not be difficult to score 65..so ppl don't worry.

Thanks for your response. Though I have gap, my percetage of marks before Improvement is also more than 80%. Will this help?

1. During our interview, in employment application form & in our resume. 2. After getting an offer, joining forms.
I hope second one will be given by employees at the date of joining. Which one will they verify?. If it is a second one, then I am still having time to submit it.

Precisely the type of posts that have made my visits to this thread less. I feel as if I am aiding someone to do the wrong thing the right way. Please people!! This is not the right way to go about getting into a company. You are starting off with a lie, what will follow is not very appealing...

Well if that is the case, I am glad. The Oral's concept betrayed the fact that they did not pass. Plus, the general standard of INFY recruits has gone down, because of such mass recruiting. This is a general observation across the board by people who have been here for more than 4 years.

Yes..it's a good thing. Actually ours was the last batch that had orals and re-orals. I see no point in giving people so many chances when there are so many talented people waiting outside to get in. And infy sure is recruiting in huge numbers....and the standard of recruits going down i think is mainly because their recruiting process is too easy. I mean anyone can solve the kind of puzzles they give in the tests. But on the other side if they make their selection process stringent then they won't be getting the huge numbers they require! But still they should think more about the quality of the recruits coz there is no point training somebody for months as also paying him..only to chuck him out in the end.

Please mention the batch (e.g. Sep 2005 Long cycle at Mysore, etc) i'll be all the more glad to get more info on this asap.
For the rest, believe me it never happens!
The reason is very simple. Infy spends quite a few lakhs on every trainee who undergoes the training procedure (now with trainings being held at only mysore, at a world class campus, it's even more) Consider this, at the end of the training, if a person fails, and is chucked out, infy does not make any revenue (read profit) on this. Of course, by passing him, it's degrading on the "quality". But believe me, you don't need excellent programming skills to survive in indian IT where there are entire Departments (known as PU) to perform Black Box Testing (google it to know what it is) and you definitely don't need brains for that.

Well, there are two sides of a coin... I didn't have all my semester certificates (my college had taken them back, and were producing a complete 8 sem marksheet) at my joining time, gave a stmt that i would produce them in a month. (same for my college mates) Reality? We submitted them nearly 8 months later. (that too we had to inform the HR team that we had uploaded the docs and asked them to verify it )
Am not giving any pointers to the methods practised in infy, but all scenarios possible!
