If you are willing to work really hard for a period of 6 months under the rigorous training(and believe me this will be the toughest phase in your academic career!),then go for Infy but yes , if you want training for name sake and work on actual projects(without wasting time unlike Infy, where you will be trained on almost all IT-skills,which you will rarely require in job!) then go for Wipro.Wipro will be safe option from job-security point of view, whereas Infy will be like 'Talwar latak rahi ho sar par hamesha!!!' he he
@mk12 I am an ex Infoscian , worked as a Sr PM there for 2 years ......IMHO , u should join Infy if u wish to increase yr brand value ......personally I did not like the INFY WORK CULTURE much and i have heard WIPRO is much worse.......just remember while working in any xyz IT outsourcing co , these cos dont give immense job satisfaction and one is treated purely as a "resource" which is being hired just for the "cost arbitrage" , that's it ...so if u do not keep yr expectations high u will be ok

I really agree with 'invban' sir.Having been there in Infy and hearing across news of other IT companies,I too have become somewhat more critical of these IT companies.Somewhere down the line,I also feel being used only,in fact some of my friends and kith & kins also agree on what I think.I feel like one of the 'majdoors' in the cluster! with managers as the real 'malik'!! he he

actually m ece graudate(graduating in 2013). will they provide us 6 moths training at mysore in our 8th sem( which our industrial sem in our college) or they will provide us on job traing aft our graduation?

Am not sure completely becoz i went for training after completing B.Tech. But to some extent i know that if u r selected for internship then u will undergo 1-2 months training at mysore campus in ur 8th semester. U will be paid around 5k as stipend. Then after completing ur graduation u have option to join infosys(bond of around approx 25000 if u don't join). If you join then u will given around 1 month training again in mysore campus and will be paid approx Rs13074(single room)/13800(shared room).

Hope this helps

They will teach you everything from scratch. But it will be helpful if you go through C/C++,Java,RDBMS and bit of Unix.I am telling this because you have sufficient time before DOJ.Also,There is pressure in 'Basic stage' i.e. Stage1 to perform else they will send you for break or kick you out depending upon your CGPA and this is the thing that haunts almost every trainee once their training starts! So,it's my sincere advice to go through C and RDBMS atleast. And yes, learn to Code and run queries in C and RDBMS respectively rather than going through theories.
Hi a2k.. u seem to have had a tuf time during your training. but for the freshers i must quote that "Its not that tough now" training patterns have been revised and tests patterns have been made easier than before...Also as u mentioned they will kick you out..the scene is reversed now... People can only dream of being kicked out of here.. Infy is giving hell lot of chances to clear your training. No1 is kicked out here bcoz of his CGPA.. only if you break the rules like Entering campus drunk or misbehaving with some fello infoscion then only there is expel scenerio...
People dont be afraid of Infosys training.. if you do your work regularly..I mean complete the work taught and assigned to u daily then it will be very easy going to you i can give you my word on that ;)

This reminds me of some saying

"The desktops and laptops are treated as assets and people are treated as resources" Should have been other way round.

Strange but true 😞 😞

This reminds me of a question I've wanted to ask.
Are we allowed to take our personal laptops on campus during training?

you are not allowed a laptop on the company premises ... be it during the training or during the job. However, you will have a system assigned to you which you can use to do all the personal work you want to do.

I basically need a terminal to prepare for CAT because a lot of the prep happens on the computer. I guess then that terminal should suffice.
Thanks.

Yup ... The system is sufficient for any kind of preparation. You will be able to open pagalguy and other mba-prep sites.

However, you will not be able to open any social networking sites.
Moreover, the internet connection will not be available between 9Am - 5PM but that is the time for your classes etc.

It is more than sufficient if you can adjust to the routine there.

:)

I am in infosys now ... right now 😃 😃 Hope that answers your question 😃
as revenge sir told, internet will not be available from 9am to 5 pm. At the same time, most of the employees do get it on special request. Only Finacle people sufer a bit. Or else no need to bother 😃

I think Infy-bashing is some kind of a fad. It doesn't sound as bad as people make it sound.

Definitely infy is a bad place. But yes People speak as if the rest of the companies in this world are perfect and infy alone is defected. I believe that if infy has some rule which is not good for employees, other companies will have other rules..
After all, companies are run for their profit not for employee profit 😃 :)

lets look at why Infy bashing is happening ......lets take an example.....if you are a honest, hardworking guy known to be fair and liberal all along the years , you get praised by one and all that enhances yr reputation as just that "ideal" people are looking for and elevated as kinda "God" ........in short you become a trustworthy brand .........now you commit some mistakes and at some point in time start self serving yr interests (nothing wrong in that because its human nature) and the people who believed in you get terribly disappointed and start showing a wisp of delusion but you do not listen or care ...what happens now ?? the reputation of u being an "idealist" is shattered by the same media which helped u create it .....same is the case with Infy .....they created a lot of hype and brand building in domestic and international media to become a great brand (TCS never did this sort of publicity) , but when it mattered to show that they really are a "great Company" they started squeezing their own employees ......result , they got bashed up more than a TCS or a Wipro because the latter did not build up a expectation that they are the "God of all IT cos) :)

One of friend brought it in mysore. He was not allowed to enter in the even in the campus. He had to keep it in his some relative's house in mysore and later on he sent it back to his home.
Iron box is also not allowed. And they are very strict about these two. Don't bring these in any case. Just bring ur clothes, books(if there are any). That's all. U will be provided with everything else there. They provide towel also as well as laundry facility.. :)
hello friends,
I have been selected for Infosys, Accenture and Cognizant through campus placements last year(september 2011, 4th year 1st sem), All the 3 offer almost same package. Infosys has given the DOJ as NOV 19th, 2012, the other 2 companies dint give the DOJ yet.
Initially i thought of joining Accenture or CTS because they have less workload and good projects. But now Im in a dilemma whether i have to wait for Accenture and CTS or join Infy without taking risk.
I have 2 questions in my mind which need ur help friends:
1. Which is the best of the 3 companies Infosys, Accenture or CTS regarding training, projects, workload and growth.
2. Keeping in mind that the IT market is slow now, will me waiting for Accenture and CTS will be risky
Thanks in advance.

@pra9
@pra9 and what is the probabilty of getting a project immediatly after training at infosys?
