Guys is it possible for someone to attend his gd pi during while he is undergoing training at infy mysore.
Actually I have offers from both CTS and INFOSYS, and I intend to give CAT 2011.....but my only apprehension about joining infy is that if i get some gd pi calls then i will not be able to attend those bcoz i herad they only give a max of 3 leaves during training.
So plz advise, what should i do...join CTS so that if i get any gd pi calls, i can attend those.....or stick with my infy offer.....plz reply
My doj at infy is around dec this year, while at cts it will be around august....plz suggest what to do.....

Join CTS in August. Because you are getting an extra workex of 3-4 months if you join in August rather than Dec. That may help in your workex count in CAT. suppose you leave company in June(2013), your workex will be 22 months acc to August and you will be eligible for lateral placements.
You can take a max leave of 5 days at a stretch after which your batch will be changed and you will be accomodated in some other batch(whose doj is after you) at the same module which you left. So no harm done.

Join CTS, dont waste your time.
Regarding leaves at Infy, you can get upto 5 leaves during training(for genuine reasons) without getting your batch changed. I myself took 5 days leave.

Incase if u are planning to prepare for CAT, i suggest use the time till december for preparation and then join Infy...
there is not much to worry for work ex as , evn if u join join CTS u will not be having 1 year work ex and any work ex below that is genrally treated as freshers
regarding GD/PI calls....do not worry much..many had done it earlier and u too can do it
at max u would be asked to shift the batch ..and that should not bother u when u get good calls

rather base ur choice on worst case scenario..incase if u dont made it this year..what next???...where do u feel comfortable working..talk to ur seniors and take a informed decisson
Want to know abt the business analyst job at Infy offered to MBA passouts.I mean thngs like package they offer, work pressure , work culture, career path , foren opportunities etc. So if anyone has some knowledge then plz i request him/her to share.
Hello everyone.
I got been placed in infosys in a campus drive somewhere around december last year. Still no offer letter.
1)I hv heard that infosys prefers to call ppl frm the top colleges first, and then moves on to the others. Also, it gives out joining to the colleges frm the south first. Is this true?
2) Can we move to the managerial side too? If we can, then what are the grounds for the same?
3) At the pre placement talks, we were told that infosys sends people for an mba too. Can anyone clear the air on this regarding avg duration in company before one becomes eligible nd other eligibility criteria?
Regards,
Aseem Shandilya
1.Infy call criteria is a scientific process. They check the disciplinary, training performance(no of exits etc), adjustment to job environment etc records of a particular college and the selection and doj is based on this stat. so if you perform well in training, exits from your college are less etc, more juniors from your college would be recruited and their DOJ would be earlier.
It is a myth that they call people from south first. In our batch(2009), people from punjab University(chandigarh) and Thapar were called 10 days after their exams ended(June first week)
2. after recession, this criteria of infy funding people going for MBA was finished.
Packages offered is from 6.5L pa to 11 L pa.Depends upon your college(for ex Fore fresher gets 6.5, IMT fresher gets 7.5)and workex(2+ years 7.5 fore,8.5 IMT) etc. From what I have seen in Chandigarh, all business analysts are more or less working as IT consultants. work pressure is ok
Hello puys,
I am currently doing my MBA and will be entering my 2nd year now. I have opted for finance and marketing as my dual majors. From the look of things it seems that getting into an IT company would be the best thing for me come this placement season as compared to fin or marketing where good profiles(IB, core marketing etc) are offered only to IIMs, XL etc.
One apprehension that I have about getting to an IT company is a chance of an onsite opportunity for MBA's having the profile such as BA's, consultants. I know that there are good amount of chances of SW engg getting an onsite opp, but what about BA's etc? Whats the scene in infosys?
(I am engg and have 2 years of IT work ex, but please pardon my ignorance.)

I can clear your doubt about Infosys training. It is rigorous but it is same for all (IT and non IT people). The difference is that your training will be around 40 days extra than IT people. After clearing your training, you will feel that you are an IT person. I suggest you to join that company which gives DOJ earlier because that increases your workex and helps you if you are going for higher studies or switching jobs.
Well, thanks a lot for the reply...I intend to do mba after 2-3 years...but is the training doable for us non-IT guys?Any preparations needed before going there? Infosys doj is 8th august...cognizant has not yet confirmed the doj...I'll keep in mind what u just said...thanks 😃

No preparations man. When we were going for our training, we heard these horror stories about tough training, full day classes, half batch exits etc and it really scared all of us and it affected our first few days in Mysore. Fear is not a good motivator. But slowly but steadily we realised that Mysore training is one of the best training in the world(really mean it!!!). Its kinda honeymoon period and I believe these will be the best times in Infy because after that its all work, late nights, shitty appraisals, strict managers etc.
Training is good for all. Difficulty level is equal for both IT and non IT. You will be given 30+ days extra basic training to get you guys equal to IT people. and then same for both.
Dont worry, exits are very less. In our batch of 800(delhi,mumbai,chandigarh colleges), only 15 people were given exits out of which 10 wanted out(they got DOJ from other companies).
So all the Best
Well, thanks a lot tejas for your valuable time and good advice...your words have given me enough motivation to actually go to mysore and pursue this tough training program...I think I should go there with a positive mind frame...rest I guess everything will be fine...Thanks again!!!:)

Hi,
I've been working with Infosys for the past 18 months, and believe me, the BAs get a much quicker and longer prospects for going onsite. Their per hour billing rate is also much higher than SEs. In my unit esp, the BAs are always initiated for long term visas. The work that they do there is also much better than the pathetic coding we do here

Divya.

1. I hv heard that SEs who prove themselves also get BA profiles after 2-3 years and also I believe BTech guys who hv already worked on the project prove to be better BAs than MBA freshers who hv no idea abt the project initially.
2. In case there is no work(wich often contributes to bench strength), BAs are also asked to do some technical stuff which BTech/BE guys do.
Afterall company is paying u and will try to get something from u rather than letting u sit idle.
Have ur say on these 2 points. Thanx.

I have worked for 15 months in Chandigarh and believe me 1st case has never happened there. I dont know about other locations but I have only seen BE/BTech people with onsite exp, IIT graduates or mid-level company people(Igate etc)getting career stream changed to BA profile and that too after lot of negotiation(during recruitment).
Most BA's in Chandigarh are doing technical stuff which BTech/BE guys do.
Hope it helps
Congos Tejas Buddy you got rid of stupid coding.
