I have exp of 2.4 yrs. Got offers from multiple org. Among them Capgemini & Infosys are the major ones(In terms of brand value,reputation). Although the final call needs to be taken by me, i wanted an opinion about which company to join. Compensation and role is same at both org.

I think you know how IT industry works after being in the field for 2+ years. It is same everywhere apart from slight differences. And as I usually say, everything depends on the project you get into and the type of team you get.
Coming to which company to decide:
1. Check the kind of profile both the companies offer(Consulting > Development > Testing/Maintenance/Support). Go for the profile which suits u. 2. If both offer same kind of profile, go for company offering higher salary. 3. Again, little diff. in salary, go for company which gives work location near to your place. 4. If not, join the company where your friends are more .
Basically, this is how I decide upon whenever I have options of two good companies(as in your case). When it comes to brand image, I don't think big variation is there in two companies. Growth perse, all IT companies are almost same.
I don't have any of my friends working in CapG. But from what I heard, it is as good as Infy for work-ex people, if not better. Any finally, as the basic tendency of people is to switch jobs after working for 3-4 years, give the preference in the order I have mentioned above.

1.what is the approx. date of joining?(i am yet to receive call letter) 2.how is life at infy for trainees/freshers?(is it very hectic) 3.basically i want to prepare for cat/mba and want to give cat'11,will i be able to do the prepration for mba while working in infy?(like how many hours i need to give to infy job)

the Answers fr the questions u asked are quite subjetive
(1)Infy would generally be giving joining date one month in advance.the batches start from April and last batch would be joining in march next year. see the joining dates of ur seniors ,it would give u a fair idea.. having said that since the requiremnt is huge now...there might be more trainees joining befor november and only a few later
(*2)It depends on stream u are graduating from...comfort level...but be prepared ..it might be stressfull in the initial months..but u would love it and u can ask any seniors in Infy,Training is the best period in Infy:lookround:
(3)during training may not be possible...after training it depends on ur commitment and project u are allocated to

If you havent completed your preparation for CAT before joining infosys, let me tell you that its practically impossible to do so during training, no matter the stream. There is so much to do in Mysore apart from training, so many places to hang around, a gr8 life to live. All you can do is write a few mocks during the free hours you get (killing your fun time) Exceptions do exist, some of my frineds who came prepared got 96-97 in CAT, one of them got through XIMB.... CAT is anyways more a game of luck than hardwork these days and IIM are more a matter of board marks than CAT percentile...

Your Querry Has Already been answered. But still I want to clarify few more things. As Anchun pointed out : the answers are subjective.
1.First of all the joining date varies from college to college. Even it continues till Mar/Apr of next Year. But You will be informed by Infy around 1-2 months prior to Joining. You can check with your college seniors abt their joining date.
2.Regarding training : You ll get one of the best training there. But You might not get enuf time to enjoy. You have to find your own time to do all those stuffs. But you ll really enjoy ur stay there.
3.Regarding Preparation: I am not saying it's impossible. But you have to work hard. Even some of our friends did their preparation despite of a tight infy schedule..But unfortunately we scored arnd 96-98.. But if you are too much determined then nothing can stop you..All the best for your prep and Also Gud Luck for ur stay at INFY MYS..:thumbsup::thumbsup:
hello... i hav a query to make... around 11 of us got placed in infosys during our campus recruitement but v hav not received any confirmation letter or any offer letter... they just informed us that we hav been placed... any idea when will we receive the letter? our exams are due for the month of may.... any chances of receiving it? some of them from other colleges told us that we will be getting it after our exams... is it so?

Hi Lekhana,
Infy will give date of joining in some order which they maintain. That may or may not change every year. Generally they will have one order in which they call students from a particular college on so and so date. So just wait to receive your date of joining letter/email. I can not say exactly, when you will get, but be assured that you will get it well before the joining date so that you can do your traveling preparations.
Finally, don't worry about all these. Just prepare well for your exams and do well in them. Once you are offered a job in Infy means you will become part of our(Infy) family in near future after satisfying the academic criteria of XX%ge which has been told during your placement. On the other note,you can refer to some previous pages in this thread to get answer for this.
I was placed in Infy last December. After that, I got an arrear/Backlog in one of my exams. We are supposed to receive the offer letter by May and the Call Letter shortly after that. I would have taken the exams to clear the arrear by that.
But the problem is I might not get the results of that exam when I receive the call letter or when I have to join the company. What should I do???

Hi Shyam, You are not the one who is facing the problem. Infact there are many ppl who face these kind of situation. So dont worry about. If you are getting the result before joining then its good. But even if you are not getting the result, then also you dont have to worry. I have seen many ppl who submit their marksheet after joining the company.Just give some reason like ' You have not got your marksheet yet and you ll be getting it in a few days..bla bla bla..'. You might be cross questioned like ' other ppl of your college got the result. How come u dont have ? ' .But no need to worry. They ll listen to your genuine reason also. Hope this helps. (1) go through the last 10 pages ..u will get all the info u want and much more....and joining training immediately is not in ur hands....find when ur seniors got, u should be also getting on similar lines
(2)I am from electrical engineering and had my training during the heights of recission(200 and i completed it...so u would ..unless u desperately want to fail...generally the passpercentage would be any where between 96-99(on average)
(3)It doesn't matter for them....but observing the trend over past 1 yyear u should be getting Hyd...but u will never know..:lookround:

As i'd only 63.72%(till 6th semester), so couldn't sit for its recruitment drive. So i lost this hell a good chance to be get placed. Now not much of the companies are visiting bhopal and so i am still waiting. But considering Infy being the almost top IT company in India, I did a lot of search over the internet and found in many times that they give a relaxation of about 5% in third criteria if you are full-filling the first two. I have 72.80% both in 10th n 12th but could only make 63.72%(upto 6th sem) in my engineering. So is there any chances to get placed in Infy if i would not able to make it 65 by the end of my degree? Also Infy could have been varying its criteria. The relaxation thing can be confirmed from JKC website from where Infy is doing its recruitment nowadays. Plus do tell me what are its criteria in off campus placements? Thanks in advance.

Thanks.. I tried sending my resume to Infosys but it failed to deliver saying "recipient's mailbox is full can't accept msgs now". 😞 😞 Plus i have send PM to hemanth also but no reply from him... Just waiting. keeping my fingers crossed, hoping that this 2% difference do not ruin the things. 😃 But i need to keep sending my resume to them until last date.:) Thanks for replying.

I attended infy this march 2011 and I can say that Infy doesnt compromise in % either by 0.1........... I have felt that, as they verified semester marks for each and every person who got 68% or 69...... here the cutoff was 68.....

You must've attend Infy's Campus recruitment drive. In clg campuses they really don't give you 0.1% of relaxation.. as they keep shouting about this in their PPT.. all of my friends were saying this. 😃 Idk its true or not but i have found it in some of the websites where they were saying of some kind of relaxation.:) Well lets see..I have sent my resume to Infy.. see if i get shortlisted..:) Laters.
