No need to prepare anything. Training will start from scratch. However to utilise the next 6 months usefully you can take up some network certifications like CCNA. It will be useful if you want to work in the area of networks after training.

I got selected in Infosys and my joining is on 27th september.However i made a blunder by not joining the campus connect program organised in my institute.Though i have received the offer letter,i fear that they will send me back to complete the campus connect first..may be from some other college.I just wanna know if the above is correct.If yes then what can i do to avoid being send back.Can i provide some valid medical reasons for not being able to attend campus connect program organised in my institute.Plz reply.

Dear Michael!

The motto of Campus Connect Programme is to make the undergraduate students familiar with the latest technlologies and methodologies being implemented in IT industry, which may not be a part of your academic curriculum.

Regarding your concern, I would not advice you to get back and complete the program. It is expected you complete the program but it is not mandatory( a fact when I had joined, if changed, i am not sure ). Please communicate with the authority for clarification.

From the knowledge front, you can always learn about the techlologies from the internet. This will keep you updated.

Regarding the NSR thing, what should I do fill for the employment details. That is, for the question "Are you presently employed?" should the answer be Yes or No?

I'm a fresher and will be joining next month.


NSR data can be changed/modified later as and when need arises. Presently you can opt NO for the answer and complete your registration.

what is the career potential for freshers in this group?
some people say that its mainly support work with no emphasis on onsite projects, is that true?

IMS is mainly a support wing for various projects. However its importance can't be ruled out in smooth execution of projects. Career potential is an individual's perspective. You may like it or may not.

Project as a whole is a coordination between an Onsite team and Offshore team. Onsite team consists of the same departments as does the Offshore team. So it is wrong to think that IMS people won't have onsite opportunities, if the department is involved in the project.

Since my doj is 22nd September...my training will extend to March 10th approx. I have the following questions:

1. Since bond signing is after Training, when will it be done in my case- immediately on 10th March or a time gap will be present?

2. Also i heard that final posting is done from the 1st of the next month.. i.e. 1st April in my case. So, will we be given a break from 10th March to 1st April?? (I'm asking because i want to know if i will be free in the month of March to attend all GD-PI in Mumbai of various MBA colleges.)

3. I've seen all previous posts about bond amount. It ranges from 0 - 2lac. And is variable depending on no. of months employed and (computer usage?). Does the amount increase or decrease with no. of months working with Infy? Like, is there a difference in bond amt if we leave after training, or after 1 month or after 4 months?

4. Is it necessary to underperform in training as hinted in earlier posts (I dont want to do that coz i may have to work in Infy for 2 years depending on my MBA results this year.) to avoid paying the bond amount? I mean, the bond is signed after Training, so do we even have to pay it if we leave after training period but before signing the Bond. Also, Will we be given a Work-Ex Certificate for the Training Period?

5. In the CAT form and other forms, which is the centre that infy people give? is Mysore present? Which was the closest center to Mysore according to last years centers list. (I know that there will be many in bangalore, but i want to know the specific institute name according to last years center list where seniors gave their CAT exam).

6. What about holidays during Training? Do we get an off if a public holiday is present on a weekday? Also is there a winter break given at the year end... (Pardon me for treating Infy training like a College :)...)

1.Bond is effective from the day you join a unit. The bond was usually signed on the day of joining. However if the rule has changed, it will soon be signed after your training results (Compre + Handson ).

2.Posting will be done on need basis. There is no such rule. Also there wont be any official break, however, you can opt for it at the cost of your Earned Leaves.

3.Bond amount calculation is complex. But it is definitely influenced by the number of days you have spent with the oranisation. Longer you stay more you pay, if you break te bond. Training imparted to you also matters. Costly trainings like SAP will make you pay more.

4.Underperformance will lead to termination. Means the organisation finds you sick and unworthy, so the bond amount does not come into picture. In any case you will have to pay the penalty. You cant escape it if you break the bond. As far as i know, Infy gives you the work experience even for the training period.

5.Bangalore is the nearest centre to Mysore. Mysore is not a centre I guess.

6.:) Its not a college though you are a student. You wont get vacation:)

My date of joining infosys is 21st june 2010. What reason should i give for getting my joining of infosys postponed. It is mentioned in the offer letter that date of joining will not be extended for personal reasons.Please help me out.

Personal reasons include the health problems, your's or your family members'. Another can be unfortunate eventualities like death. Marriage, parent's transfer also are the cases taken into consideration

Well, I think i can help you in this query as i have reisgned during bond period only :)

There is no point of time when you can leave company legally before the end of bond period without paying any money.

However, people who wish to leave company during training have an added advantage and they may quit without paying money . This advantage includes ' getting failed in tests conducted during training which leads to your official exit from company and you will not need to pay anything to company'. In this case, you dont resign .. infact, company asks you to quit.

Few of my friends did this and they did not need to pay anything. As far as leaving company after training but during bond period is concerned, it is entirely a different procedure.

the thing is that the bond will be signed only after the training.
so I wanted to know if i can leave infy without paying anything immediately after the training (coz no bond is signed uptil then).
(I'm asking bcoz in my case MBA results will be out just after my training. So i cannot take a risk and fail in the infy training period.)

bond will come into picture from the first day of training itself

its period is till the completion of 1 year after completion of training

for EX:if a person joins for training in june 09th 2008 and completes it in october 22nd 2008 then bond period is till october 22nd 2009

Please can you elaborate the procedure and share with us the detail of the no. of months you worked during the bond period and the amount you were asked to pay.
Also do we require the need of the bike or other means are suffecient.

Procedure cannot be revealed on public forum . PM me if you want to know it and i shall reply you in detail.

As Anchun bhai said, my posting after training was on 20 july, 2009 and hence bond date is 20 july, 2010. On the basis of higher studies , appropiate relaxation upto max of 1 month is given by company.

As far as i am concerned , my relieving date from company is 18 june , 2010 and i am not liable to pay any bond amount.

There is no need for bike because most of the DCs are in outer of the respective cities and infy bus is best option to go with .

No you wont be having internet facilities in hostel rooms. During the training you will have access to internet for a limited time.

Dont worry about these stuff, you will live a royal life in Infy

In addition to internet access for limited time provided officially by company , there is a reliance web world in campus where you can go in leisure hours and enjoy surfing

PS: All these queries based on hostel , net etc have been answered before, kindly go through atleast 10-15 pages from the end .. might be query has already been answered.

My college is a member institute whereby the organisation of campus connect has been facilitated.But after i got selected in infosys ,I decided to give it a skip as i heard that it has got no relevance.Also i am a COMPUTER SCIENCE student.I want to know will i have to face any problem since i didn't attend the campus connect program organised by infosys in my college.My joining is scheduled on 27th september.
I need an answer if anyone could help me as i have other offer from TCS with scheduled joining date most probably in AUGUST.I am in a dillema regarding which company to join as i am inclined to join INFOSYS but the problem with the campus connect is discouraging me to join TCS.Need a reply immediately.

I fully understand your problem. We had a similar problem in our college. In fact our college had a special campus connect batch for those Infosys selected students who had not attended it till then. If you visit the special campus connect page for 2010 Infosys recruits and read about the prerequisites you will find it written there that Infosys has made attending campus connect compulsory.
Personally I don't think Infosys is going to check whether all the fresh recruits attended campus connect programme or not- it entails a lot of logistical problems. I don't think it will hamper your progress at Infy even if you didn't attend it. But it's just my personal opinion. Talk to your college authorities to get a better picture.
