@anchun, the dress code u mentioned....it's to be followed only during the office hours, rite? and are there any electricity charges or nethin fr the rooms?
yes,only during the office hours... but in the evening too..if u want to come to GEC to study,u would not be allowed in shorts girls dress code is more relaxed than guys:|
and room..they would not charge seperately for maintainence and electricity bt they would cut some 3000 odd for a single occupancy room but its worth the amount.. miss those good old days
@anchun, oh...nobody mentioned that b4...thx fr that info is there a curfew time at the campus ,either for the residential complex or the campus itself? can we move about the campus and out of it without time restrictions? is there any other regular expense we would incur while at the campus besides the room, food & sports complex?

The classrooms are closed from 11 pm to 6 am, rest of the times they are open. The only bad part is that on weekdays if you go out of campus, you have to be back by 9.30 pm.......on fridays and weekends it is 11 pm though ...
as for the campus itself, you can roam around at all times, you have 24 hour open CCD outlets too
you wont have any extra major expenses besides the ones Anchun mentioned....just 30 bucks for laundry a week

completely a personal opinion, but i would say that you should join infy and get some work-ex.....recently infy topped the list of best places to work for in a rankings list.... and it beat companies like microsoft and google mind you.....there are ppl on campus who have converted IMT-G but who are still staying with infy to give it another shot......

A Ugly duckling said, it would be better if u give another shot ask urself one simple question whether i would b happy some years down the life having graduated from Fore?? if ur heart says yes,go join it or else come join infy fewyears work ex doesn't hurt u having said that there are guys who left infy with 2 years work ex and joined LBSIM,welingkar etc etc and there are others who chucked IMT,IMI etc etc
point here is not in comparing colleges,butr it all boils down to where u want to graduate from..what are ur aspirations All the best and take a wise decission
hi puys, my joining is on 12th july. had some doubts. wanted to know on what basis rooms are allotted..most of my friends would reach mysore on 11th morning while few would reach on 11th late evening. so wanted to know if ppl who reach together would be given rooms in the same hostel bcoz accordingly the whole group might change their train bookings to land up at the same time:D kindly excuse me for my ignorance if this query has been answered before on this forum.

wondering how many ppl r in the grp...:grin: the thing is ppl report at reception and folks there allot rooms and give u the keys... so ppl reporting together r most likely to get adjacent rooms.. but it depends on availability. it may be the case tht the person nxt 2 u get a room in some other floor or some other building and once allocation is done u can't argue or change. anyway it won't matter... in fact u should not restrict urself to frnds only. get out of comfort zone, make new frnds who r frm other parts of country. trust me, u'll enjoy it...:grin:

as already been said, u r the one who need to decide. r u confident tht u'll be able to get something better?? if not, and mba is the course for u, u should join fore. once serious work begins handling prep is tough ask. about after 2 yrs ppl joining kjsom/lbs etc. truth is, there r lotss of crappy projects at infy/ similar companies and if u r unlucky to get stuck in any of those after sometime u'll be ready to accept any college just to get outta it. talking about pressure... well u can't escape it. companies pay u to squeeze the max outta u, simple. there is pressure at infy, but there is even more pressure at quality b-schools and at life after that. if u don't want pressure, perhaps corporate career is not the best choice for u and u may want to look at other career options. do some introspection and decide. ask urself the same mundane 'Y MBA'? and answer it truthfully... not to fool any adcom...

my doj is on 16 august. 1..Is it true that infy provides performance incentives during and post traning??....on an average how many in ur batch(if possible plz mention the percentage) have been benifited with the aforesaid incentives??? 2..for fooding how much amount is spent(monthly) in mysore, keeping in mind that that a person take normal 3-4 diet in a day?? how do the food courts charge for the food??... sorry for this absurd question...i asked this ques bcz i juss wanna know how much amount will go in the pocket after deducting every basic expense.......Seniors plz help with their experiences!!

Hi Food is available at subsidised rates in Mysore...u Have ample number of food courts in Mysore...a normal full meal wud cost u around say 25-30 bucks..apart from that u have a confectionary store where u can get breads and all apart from other regular items....U have a dhaba jst outside the campus where u can have ur meal...so a lot of options... About training incentives....well u have CGPA system wherein if u get 5 CGPA overall u get monetory incentive and on the last day of training all the batch top performers are given a small sheild kind of a thing with "batch top performer" written on it(I got the same during my training) and out of my batch of 180, 5 people got it.

yes indeed there is one particular hostel block which is 'mixed' in a sense, once section of that block is for guys while the rest is girls......and it is the block which is just next to mine!

hey... had another kinda small query, do we need to carry any sorta bedding with us(sheets, blankets etc) or is it provided ? are blankets even needed in the winters?i heard it doesnt get very cold there....
on a related note, are there things we would need, like the ones above, that we should bring from home?
