Got call from IIMB this year as a fresher but couldn't covert it...Now got training joining dat as 4th OCt.
Now in a fix whether to join infy or not...obviously due to preparation time management...
They told us 4 months as training period...

k. I am also confused, the seniors here have said that it is difficult to prepare during training:shocked:.
One option is to request the HR to postpone the joining date...
On the other hand, i feel i should aim for CAT 2011, after some experience (always helps, even if it is only around 12 months)..

i know laptops are not allowed but what would happen if i carried one to mysore ?? cnt i just smuggle it to my room and then keep it there ... ?? what happens who unknowingly brings a laptop to mysore ??

you will not be able to bring laptop inside as ur luggage is thoroughly searched...even some how u manage to take it inside(which is almost impossible)u will not be able to take it out ,as luggage passes through scanner while taking out,and they make beep sound if it contains laptop
even if unknowingly u bring also,they would not let it in at any cause
generally doj is the day on which u have ur induction(HR) which starts at 8:30 AM in the morning...(atleast its how for me ,my doj is 9th june and i am here on 8th june)
so people generally come 1 day in advance ,and usually batches start on monday,so it is advisable to be here on sunday,so as to get some time to get aquinted

u r supposed to report a day before, i.e on 6th june and settle in ur room

... well lappies r yet to come down to pocket size and anything prohibited sized above tht is simply impossible to get thru the security@mysore. no question of 'unknowingly' as this will be written clearly in your joining mail...

i am interested in finance as my long term career goal. i have been placed in infy. i see that they have something called finacle which is related to finance. so after training can we choose to get into finacle or is it out of bonds for freshers. i will be giving CFA in december, will it make a difference in getting finacle job.
Also i plan to do an mba to get into finance. converted MDI but i want to give cat again to get into an iim. so hence may join infy. are they supportive if one breaks bong to join premier b school or they dont care which b school, they just want bond money...

Finacle is very much available for freshers,but you cannot choose it
after completion of generic training,they would be allocating u the streams and one of the stream is Finacle..
streams are allocated on a random basis,so ur knowledge in finance will not help u..
bond amount as i said earlier,needs to be taken up with unit HR,and i don't think they give any weightage for the type of college u join
but generally they are cooperative with the notice period...

why being pessimistic...hope the results turn out good(generally it does,atleast in my university
for final years)(1)nope, i have one of my friend who had a back paper and delayed the doj,but i am not sure what reason he gave for extension of date
(2)this question can better be answered by HR folks..

1) Incase you have any backlogs in the final year and u get to know abt it after you join then u can take a break clear u r exam and join agn....(this happened wid one of my colleague in Infy)
2) If u know u have a supplementary before joining just tell the HR that u have a supplementary and they will postpone u r joining date
U may want to verify it once agn wid Infy HR
In the first instance i hope u dont get into such circumstance.... :)

Be assured that late joining will not have any affect on ur future prospects at infy
u can learn C language,RDBMS ,basics of OOP if u seriously want to prepare some thing at home,which would ease out the pressure once u join here,as these are the subjects we teach u in initial one month
u are in PG,which implies u are interested in doing MBA ,so make the best use of time and crack CAT
if u have interest in technical side,brush up ur electrical eng concepts(i almost forgot mine:-()
so do not have any apprehensions and just relax :):cheers:
