Since our batch ( december 2008 ) and few batches before it... new hostels have been built in the campus ( and much more work is going on ) and all these new hostels have single rooms only.
All the guys were allotted single room and girls were given rooms on sharing basis.... so, dont worry, you will surely get a single room no matter what time and what date you reach campus.

since laptops arent allowed in the campus i was wondering if could i check my mail on the phone and for that do they have wireless internet in the residential complexes....? if yes , is it free u do u hafta buy internet time?

generally, colleges as well as companies don't give weightage to work ex less than 9 months... however, this varies from college to college and company to company during placement season in colleges.

No, there is no wireless internet in the residential complex. However, there is reliance world in the campus which can be used for checking mails and accessing sites which are prohibited by the infy network.
Also , there will be 2 hrs in morning and 2 hrs in evening during weekdays as well as whole day during weekends when net access will be available officially. You can open PG , sites of coaching centers etc through it but for obvious reasons, social networking sites can't be accessed officially

@ truckin:yeah they will give u experience for 2-3 months..Though u will have 2 pay some money to break the bond if u not completing ur training...
from all the earlier posts it seems that trainees are not allowed to have laptop with them....m i correct
in that case are we allowed to carry a pen drive or hard disk for personal use in infy mysore campus(many companies hv restriction on this)...also are we allowed to have ipods etc with us.....
i am planning to give cat this year so m i allowed to go for gd pi of d colleges in case they r on working days.....

As far as i know,u can take electronic devices inside the campus ,after registering them with security personal and taking a gate pass for it.. Ipods for sure ,u can take inside yes,for GD/PI definetely u cannot take a leave during training officially
Hi All, I have joined Infosys on 13th july'09 as a fresher. Now I got admission in IIT madas(MBA) n i want to join it. They(infosys) are asking me to pay the bond money of around 1.5 lacs. Please help ....how to reduce the bond money???
I am interested in doing MBA with a couple of yrs of experience In CAT09 i had iimb call, in case i dont get that. Can i join infy and simultaneously prepare for mba.
I appeared for CAT09 and managed a decent 98.26 %ile but didnt manage an IIM call(obviously due to poor acads).I had calls from IMT,MDI,NITIE. Didnt convert NITIE,no hopes frm MDI(screwed PI),dont wish to join IMT.
I am placed in infosys and accenture.Now wanted your views as to which company should I join.
I wish to do MBA aftr 2 yrs or so(may be CAT11).which among the 2 will help me building my not-so-attractive profile.I mean where would I get opportunities to have certifications along with having a good job profile and moreover which 1 would have a not-so-hectic workload. I am new to pagal guy i am sorry if I have posted it at a wrong place..

first of all,congrats on ur IIM B. i sincierly wish,ur call should be converted
having said that,we see the worst case scenario... since u got call from IIM B as a fresher,it implies,u are good in studies and have a good profile and i don't think u require the same amount of efforts for CAT 2010,as it took for 2009(since u would have already covered the basic topics
now u have two options: (1)get ur joining date extended,till the completion of CAT and based on the result u can decide at that point of time(assuming u want to write in 2010)
(2)join infy(in this case,prep for CAt-2010 would be bit tough,as u would be in training) but once u move to prodn,its ur time management skills to manage studies,work,friends etc etc many had done it,and no doubt u can also do it
PS:so my suggestion,after all the ramblings would be to take either option (1) or (2),any case work experience would help u

as far as certifications are concerned,technical certifications are mandatory in infy every 6 months,so even u like or not u would be doing them. profile wise ,i dont think infy or accenture may be more or else the same(as the profile is IT for both) work load,again it depends on the project u are in... and the time of release of project(work load becomes hectic,as the project dead lines approaches)
so finally take a call,on which company u want to associate with

I don't know much about Accenture but regarding those non-technical certifications,you have to take them externally.You have to set aside time to prepare for those.
I have my joining on jan 10,2011...n my branch is electrical. i am interested in writing CAT 2010. I had a decent 92.8%le in cat 2009 n so i think this year i can certainly do better. I wanna know a few things: 1) Can the date of joining be extended if i ask for it so that i am done with all the mba entrance related activities before joining and then take the final decision on where to go? 2) If i join the company,do i have to pay the bond even in the training period if i happened to leave the company during training? 3) How much is the bond usually during the training,if at all it's there? 4)How's the workload during training n after the completion nof training? do guys there get sufficient time to study n prepare for higher studies?
