Hi everyone..Congrats to all who got their DOJ'S...My query is not related to infy..I got selected in wipro this jan..Searched for threads related to wipro, but couldn't find one..Should i start a new thread?

This is just that you need to go to one of the mentioned NSR centres and give your fingerprints , photo ( they will take it by their own cam 😃 ) and might be 1-2 more things which i cant recall right now ..... just to get you registered in the central database of all the IT Professionals across all the companies registered with them.
Initially, they will provide you TIN ( Temporary id number ) on the spot... later, a card will be sent to you at your address containing your PIN (permanent id number ) ... you need to give these to Infy people for their records. In case, by the time you join, you don't get PIN ... you can use TIN till then.

In IT industry... branch doesn't matter...... except during initial days of training and early days in the company as CS/IT Branch people have already gone through many terms used during their b.tech.
However, at later stages, there is no criteria of branch in measuring the progress one can make in his career. Just to state an example, my current PM is from mechanical engg background 😃 and he has worked on diverse domains till now ranging from Java to .Net to SAP:)
Rest, joining infy or doing mba is your personal call depending on what all colleges you have in hand and will they place you in better position than infy after two years.... .if not, then join infy as you can give another attempt in upcoming season with some work ex in your bag
I am in IT branch and my college had a campus connect program but it was optional and I did not participate
So, will i have to appear for the test ??
and just to be on the safe side what all do they ask in the test ... will take a look at those subjects ...

,even if u attend campus onnect ornot u will be in fast track trainingany how the subjects are C,RDBMS,basic operating system

since u asked specifically abt mech eng,
we have one unit called PLES(do not ask me the full form
)generally this unit have more of mech eng related work(designing and stuff)
during our training,all the mech students had a interview after the basic training and those who were selected were given PLES training and ultimately same IBU

i do agree when u are in college with a pay package of 3.25lakhs(just an assumption)
and when some one says there is a hike and it becomes 3.75 lakhs etc etc
even if we discuss abt the salary here,u will not be able to understand
what is meant by 5% salary hike(is it on gross salary or basic salary)
so just relax,and not let these news bother u

Chill dude,
keep a check on tone.... First of all, Anchun bhai is not bound to answer your salary based queries as he is not the HR ... if he is trying to make all new joinees understand the way salary hike has been provided in the company, then either read the posts to understand or don't fire your salary query.
If you dont wanna understand, then go ahead with other options.. infy neither lacks people who are going/willing to join it nor does it effects you coz you have other options as well ( as indicated by your post ) ..
And if you join infy... ask your salary related queries to HR in the campus.
We are here to solve queries which are in our scope . Also , please keep in mind that we are aware of the hikes given to either confirmed employees or employees in probation after training... how is it going to be in your training period, no one other than your HR knows.

they use to allow laptops after having a gate pass for itbut in 2009 they changed the policies and as Vision Bhai said they will not be allowed inside the campus at any cost
this not only applies for trainees but also for production folks
only those laptops whiich are provieded by the company are allowed inside the campus(that too with a gate pass which is checked every day)

so how do u do ur personal wrk dere?? i mean dat u prep for cat n so do i have to.. hw can dese things be done wid pc, wen all mock test are being given online now..

well don't worry much abt them
in campus u will be alloted with computer,which only u would be using during the training
everyday after 5 and during weekends u will have 24 hrs net facility,so u can write exams from them
or else we have net centre in campus and one just outside campus, so don't worry
there are even computer labs in GEC(whch can be used by any employee)where u would not find single soul during weekends,giving u ample privacy to write ur exams in peace
PS:last year i wrote one or two exams there ,instead of writing in my laptop to get a hang of writing online CAT

I want a SINGLE ROOM.
So kindly let me know, what is d procedure for room allotment.
Is it a choice tht u want a single or shared.. Or it is as per there database n fixed or random allotment as n when ppl come, etc.
Plz let me know this.. n if there is some trick as to arrive early or late so as to get single room or whtever.. I am sorry i m mentioning everything round n round.. but plz help me out of this..

As far as i know there r 2 DOJ's before mine(12 july).. they r 6 june and 21 june..
So they will be getting as they want n when single will get full we will be compulsorily given shared, etc..
