Hey IBMers... I want to know anyone on pg who works in IBM mumbai... Let me know if you work here in mumbai. Firstly i am interested in knowing all that ibm does here in mumbai. Is bangalore the main office? i aint least interested in joining but am interested for other reasons....

No IBM GS office in Mumbai . That office is or the S&D; and consulting guys. Yes bangalore is the main office.

Also Fyi to those interested IBM recruited 760 from the 2004 batch,1700 from the 2005 batch . the 2006 nos are around 1200.15% of IBM worldwide HC will be in india by 2007 ( when i pass out)

Vikas - At IBM ypu first year you normally won't have that much responsibilties and so you will have plenty of time to prepare for CAT! Don't worry!

Does anybody have any idea here about the joining date of iBM GS? We (at PEC) have made innumerable calls to them. The scenario looks sumthing liked dis...
First it was 13 th JUne
Then it became 18 th July
Now it's oscillating between 18th july nd 22nd aug .(Cud be sep also)

Hope these IBM guys don't plan to give pink slips. Hav already chucked my infy joining (which was today,13th June)

All recruits to IBM and all IBMers plzz care to reply at the earliest.

This suresh from Anna Univ. CEG chennai....doing M.Tech IT...IBM HR told me that my joining dates will be in the month Aug or Sept.........Will IBM send a confirmation letter or thru email.mentioning Date of joining....??? y so much delay in this process???? is July batch full..???

Unlikely!

Look like all cos IBM has also expanded beyond its expectations hence there are issues like Arranging training /deployment etc.Hence the delay.Avoid calling manvikar ramesh,he probably knows less than you do as this is a deployment issue.
Also even after joining you may be benched for a month after training till yu are taken in for a project. Dont expect to find your feet before october.

Uptil now i have recevied no info. regarding joining date and location. Has anybody have any idea regarding the same. ?

I have been trying to contact Mr.Manvikar Ramesh , but not once have i been able to have him on the line.

Hi Guys, I guess most of the discussion till now has centered on people joining for the techie jobs.
Are there any MBA grads on the forum who have joined IBM.
What kind of profiles these people have offered at various campuses, how is the organization as a whole in terms of work culture, flexibility, etc.

Well, That is a yes and a no..if your prformance was poor and then you are in bench for a long long time they do consider a sacking.But u r safe if its just a matter of chance/ your manager has no complaints and you generelly do not piss off people with your work ethic or the lack of it .But yes if u r a third party contracter and on bench u r done with!!

My joining dates are confirmed to be OCTOBER 31st, most likely the training will be in bangalore. What do you guys say about that.
Why such delays.
here very much boring to spend another 2 and 1/2 months.

I have been placed in AMS category i think. what kind of jobs do i get, how is the projects getting in, any thing i can prepare in useful way so that i can spend 2 1/2 months usefully

Adressing your Queries one by One

1) Delay because there is no point paying you when there is no project to bill you.Nothing to risk ur job

2) In AMS u do ome maintainence and development projects.Prjects are plenty and long term , the work life balance is pretty good /flexi time etc

20 Onsite depends on chace junior guys do not go onsite very fast(as compared to TCS/infy etc) ofer 3-4 rs oppoertunities are immense.

Hello everyone..I also have a few queries regarding IBM. I've got the joining date for 26th Sept. I have 3 questions:
1. Does nebody have ne idea abt the location for joining, on 26thSept.
2. plus have heard from ppl that its only support and maintenance in gurgaon and SAP in calcutta. can i rely on such news? ppl have told me that they put freshers into documentation and pure maintenance. is this true
3. what about onsite opportunities from IBM. although they dont send us like tcs and infy does..but do they send at all?
4. am i doing the right thing by waiting for joining IBM and leaving aside all other walkins and options

plz plz plz reply to theses questions cos i've been on a look out for a forum like this for such a long time to clear my doubts..and thankfully i've found a great one..

Also i want to know the job security. Is it ok. I know about the flexiibility its very good.
How about the growth for us ,and about higher study will they help us.
Will they allow us to choose the domain we want or they put in a random order.?

How flexible is IBM on posting,.,. since my spouse is based out of Chennai.. I wanted to know if they would accomodate me at Chennai or Hyderabd

Depends solely on how you mamage to convince your PM/Competency leader.If its mainframe etc should not be a problem..if its a core telecom kinda project..then no..unlikely
