Hi All,

Can somebody look at  my profile below and let me know if this program is suitable for me at this stage of my career.

I have 6 years of work experience in the BPO/IT/ITES sector.

My XII is 83.60% ICSE and X is 76.67% ICSE

B.Tech in Mechanical Engg with 73.08% from UPTU

I am writing GMAT on July 11th.

I have 2 months of international exposure but have throughout worked with international clients. I have been promoted thrice in my tenure of 5 years in the current company. My objective doing an MBA is to have a fuction change (IT to Consulting) with or wthout a vertical change.  Been a part of a few CSR initiatives at the company. Let me know if you need any additional information.

Hello.

Time is the most valuable resource, especially when you are studying in IIMA 😃

So, let me make this as concise as possible:

a. i did my B.Tech IT and went on, straightaway, to my MBA from Symbiosis Pune with HR as specialisation; did not a have a reasoning for choosing this path; just went with the tide

b. only now, after 10years , started evaluating on where i am headed.

c. even though i did not pursue career seriously, it does not imply that i was not good in what i was doing : have a decent workex, with 4.5yrs in HR & Recruitment and another 5yrs then IT Sales & Coverage

d. all thruout, i have been associated with only one company : Wipro; now the current role i handle is that of a Wipro Client Rep

e. after long analysis, my career aspiration became clear : it is to become a Sales Leader in an IT org, heading their Business in one of these portfolios : Analytics / Mobility

f. I can probably achieve that that by making the right jumps from where i am now

g. However, i always regret not having IIMA on my resume; it is more of an emotional regret than a quantified one

h. Also, IIMA provides the better platform for growth and an network with wider reach

Hence, the decision to apply for the PGPX class of 2017.

Am hopeful to secure a score of 700-710.

Your thoughts, opinions and criticism are much welcome.

Thank You,

Warm Regards,

Diwakar

Please tell me whether IR score is taken into account for admissions into IIMA?

Does IIM A encourage CAs to apply for the one year program?

Also what Kind of placements to people passing out from the course get in the Fin Sector?

Query regarding application process. I registered to apply for PGPX but I am unable to find a place to upload document and essays. Can someone tell me where that option is?

Hello

Can you please clarify the following two queries:

1. Do class X and XII results required or carry any significance for selection process? I don't find any section asking for the same in the application form.

2. How much time do I get to write the essays in case my application is short-listed?

Hi All,

I have 11+ years of experience in the IT industry in Management and Consulting(Solution Architect) roles in the ERP space. In next 2-3 years I want to move into Senior Management/Leadership roles in the IT industry itself.

Probably I can get there without an MBA as well, however I was thinking whether I can accelerate the process through the learning and network that I may build in a good B school and be more matured and well rounded with the management education, when I get into such a role.

Now there are two options I am considering,

1) A full time 1 year MBA from IIMA, IIMB or ISB.

2) An EMBA from ISB(PGPMAX) or the newer ones like the one from Insead in India(ILPSIE).

In the first option, the cost of the opportunity would be higher since I would have to forego a year of salary and add the course fee to the total cost. Also I would be 12+ years experienced and 36+ years of age when I start the course.

1) Would that be too old for a 1 year full time course in India?

2) Did the previous batches have profiles like mine? What kind of roles did they end up in after the completion of the course?

3) I saw the batch profiles for these programs. Most of the folks had around 9-11 years of experience. So am I over experienced for these courses and stand to lose out on a value of (say) couple of years of experience?

In the second option, I am not sure about the industry acceptance and leverage that I may get out of the course. Will it help me with my medium term career goal? What is your opinion of course like PGPMAX and ILPSIE for a profile like mine?

Any helpful response would be appreciated.

Regards,
Shatadip.

Dear Sir/mam

How much does the International work ex counts in the admissions? For example I have no international work ex, does that decrease my chances of making it to the course?
