I am having trouble with SC.GMAT on 25th.Have 7-8 hrs per day in hand 4 studying doin well in all other stuff. SC is horrible gettin 50% wrong Did OG 11 once trying 2 go thru again. do i start with 1000SC?? or which book do u suggest?? I had referred Manhattan 4 strategies.

well, instinct is good, but you shouldn't be using it all the time. Pick up one of Princeton or Kaplan Premier, study the SC/CR strategies given there. They would've classified most of the questions into different categories, and given a method to approach each of those categories.
Try to consciously use those methods - i'm sure you'd see a difference. The process of getting to the answer will become a lot more definite. (esp. for SC, might sometimes be a bit wayward for CR, but you'd still find it easier to eliminate the wrong choice)
I have 2 soft copies ot Manhattan gmat guide - one with 125 pages and other with 75. I'm using the first one. Its very good. Has helped me a lot. I am using it as my primary resource for SC.
Now I am looking for some good practice tests. Can u help me on that ?

I gave GMAT test in june 2008 and got a very low score of 580 :(

As you can see I have scored very less in verbal, can some please advice me how to go about improving my verbal skills ( books to go through, may be from basics ). Earlier I had gone through Manhattan verbal strategy and had done OG. Planning to retake GMAT in August 2008.

1- Since GMAT is valid for 5 yrs., Does it make any difference if I take it now and apply after say a gap of 3 yrs.?? Do universities consider this in selection?If yes then why?
2- Which will count more..an experience in IT (which I'll get) or experience in Finance?
3- Which is the best book to start your preparation with??
4- How much experience will be good enough?

@Murthy...I think your problem is that you are directly solving problems w/o understanding the rules that are tested in GMAT. Please go through Manhattan very carefully and then approach certain actual GMAT questions....exhausting OG-11 initially is a bad idea...as you get quality questions with lucid explanations in it. Now, you must read manhattan, solve OG again, learn from explanations and re-solve questions that you go wrong in. You can start with SC-1000 but before that be in a position to understand why an option is correct...as SC1000 does not give explanations.
@donofmba....bhai...try to karo...there are atleast 20 Manhattan copies already uploaded...:)
@souharda...you have enough time..n must start once again from scratch, burrying the history...refer Manhattan for SC, Princeton for RC and CR strategy..and an over all idea, any source of actual GMAT RCs and solve 3-4 of them at a stretch everyday...solve 10-20 actual GMAT CRs everyday...use explanations judiciously...for maths, refer nova once and just solve lotsa questions...take one CBT every 5-6 days...am sure if u do so, results wud follow...
@saurabh...if even after reading the concepts you are unable to apply them well, you need someone to make you quickly understand application of the concepts...sometimes it really saves tie n makes it very simple...kindly luk for a friend who has been thru the grill and request him to spend some time helping you apply the concepts...

Although its valid for 5 years, don't apply with a score older than three years. i.e. if you wish to do your MBA with max 4 years experience, it makes sense to take your GMAT in next 3-4 months...else no.

A very common problem....we do things to get into a B school...it shud be the other way...things that v do shud lead us to a B school!! Boy...getting into a B school is not the ambition of your life, it's just a medium...see what you wish to do in life...choose your career accordingly...any good experience can fetch you a gud profile...

2 is essential...nothing is sufficient...work-ex is jus one thing...then, the quality, level and pool of the work-ex also matters. you need to convince the adcom that u have a gud overall personality...
