hi puys,
I am preparing for gmat. I am taking the online test of PrincetonReview. My score right now is in the range of 660. Can anyone give me any idea how much increment/decrement happens on real Gmat from the pricetonreview scores?
I am not able to access the site scoretop.com for the last few days. Can anyone access the site?

Well scoretop.com has been sued by GMAT committee and hence it is off air.....

I dont know which books you had referred before completing OG11.
If you had completed OG11 then you should try giving sectional Tests
from Kaplan CD. Try to give Computer Based Tests more than Paper ones, as it makes lot of difference. Regarding SC i suggest you to go through Manhattan SC once. Well everything is available in pg dude.
check for seperate threads on individual sections and i'm no expert
as I'm also on the same page like you.
Hi,
Are these tests free?..Please send me a link also....
No dude...these tests are not free. I bought the PrincetonReview Book and got the tests with it.
hi,
Do you know where I can get a soft copy of the list of idioms present in the Manhattan SC guide.
I think it will come really handy to lookup while at work :)
Thanks,
Raj

There is one SC guide available for free download at manhattan site.
That is a 58 page one.
Another 125 page one guide is a scan of some book. pm me ur mail id, I can email it to u. but it's huge...6 MB. you can try to download it from esnips-dot-com.
People,
I recently took the GMAT. I had purchased a few books for preparation, which are still in pretty good shape. (well, there are a few explanatory notes that I've added here and there, but I think that's a positive to anyone who uses it)
If anyone's interested in purchasing these books (OG11 Main + OG Verbal + OG Quant), please PM me your number/mail address. I will get in touch with you.
(PS: I'm in Bangalore, by the way, so its people around here who should be interested)
**I'm not aware if it's against the rules of this thread to post such stuff. If yes, I sincerely apologise for the same. Please let me know if that is the case, I will remove this post immediately.

hi,
so ive heard scoretop has good material, but surprisingly theres no such site.
Scoretop's being sued by the GMAC and hence has been taken down.
Back to PG after a long-long break. Intend to cover all the Quant topics on Concepts....total fundas!! before I fly to US and also felt it wise to be active on the GMAT threads as am sure many puys would be seeking some guidance.
In case few of you have forgotten me (:() or have neva come across my posts (:(:(:(), lemme briefly tell abt myself...I cleared CAT-2005 for IIM-L but chose Indian Army over it...unfortunately, due to some technical problem I had to quit Army and by the time I came back, I had missed the IIM joining date as well as CAT 2006 form :)....so I wrote my GMAT and applied for the batches starting in fall 2008.
Late last year, I managed multiple converts....owing to my long term plans, I chose scholarship (slightly) over ranking and am joining the Boston University with full scholarship in coming August.
I would love to be of any help that I can be...for GMAT and beyond.
Here, I would like to quickly sum up my knowledge/experience/learnings...
About GMAT:
Refer just the right material. There's a lot available on the web...please don't be misguided. Just some material-done at right time in right spirit should be sufficient.
When I took my first simulated GMAT, without any preparation, to know my actual level...I scored a 720 (owing to the knowledge I gained in GRE (1510) + CAT. That score was not sufficient and I was targetting the magical 780, maximum I had heard of. It took me 5 months to reach a level where I could consistently score 770-780 in simulations. Honestly speaking, three months are more than sufficient for any individual to hit his peak. The mistake I committed was to study anything and everything. The number of books covered was increasing but my score wasn't. Correct structure is very important.
Having learnt it hard way, I decided to come up with just the right structure/combination for GMAT preparation. I have taken the best of the materials, segregated them section-wise and within sections, topic-wise, compiled them, added my advices to them and arranged right softwares at right places to form a study material which contains only best parts of the best materials in town, just sufficient for GMAT. I can safely say, it's the best possible study material for GMAT.
I would like to share what should be done to gain optimum results in minimum time..
* Read a book or go through a website that lucidly explains the GMAT pattern. Understand the test and its scoring pattern.
* Take a simulated test and based on your performance, set for yourself a goal of XYZ score in MM/YYYY
* Get down to actual preparation. Solve concept books for each topic that appears in GMAT irrespective of how big a bond you are in which section. If you're awready good in a section, you'd take lesser time but going thru the entire syllabus once in critical. In case you can arrange topic-wise segregated questions....specially for SC/CR...learning would be better and faster.
* Solve 3 RCs everyday without any gaps.
* After practice books are done, solve plethora of questions.
* Keep on taking one CBT every 5-6 days.
* Before taking any simulated test, enquire about it's difficulty level so that you keep on knowing your actual level. Here is a ROUGH idea...
GMAT prep +/- 20 of your actual level.
Powerprep (always solve both before OG-10, else questions would reapeat)- Subtract 30 to know your actual level.
Princeton - Subtract 20/30 to know your actual level.
Kaplan - Very fickle...but standard of questions is very good.... if score is above 550, add 100 to know actual score...add 60-70 otherwise.
800score - shows scaled score...verbal slightly easier, quant much easier.
Manhattan - subtract 30/40
I request puys to not to start a debate over my observations....this is what I've interpreted...slight difference in opinion is bound to exist...but am trying to give my honest help.
* With 20 days left for GMAT, solve only OG questions and GMATprep to ensure that you stick to GMAT's difficulty level.
* Do not neglect AWA...atleast for the reason that you need to have stamina to be at peak of your concentration for four hours.
* Make a good template each for AWA- issue and argument.
* Write a GMATprep 8-10 days before your scheduled date. If your score is not matching your expectations, you can think about rescheduling your appointment. A gap of 7 days is mandatory for re-scheduling.
* Please give yourself a day's break before GMAT.
I believe that the aforementioned structure, if followed in the right spirit, can yield great results.
Would also share my experience/knowledge on university shortlisting/application essays/interview if puys find it useful. Can also conduct a seminar somewhere in Delhi if puys need it.
Please let me know if I can be any help at all.
Regards,
Maxximus
