GMAT Prep Material 2023

Hey All,
I started giving mock GMAT tests recently. I have the following mocks:

1. Powerprep - 2 tests
2. Gmatprep - 2 tests
3. Kaplan - 4 tests
4. Score800 - 1 test
5. Cambridge Review - 1 test
6. Princeton - 4 tests

That makes it a total of 14 tests. I have already given 4 out of the 14 above. Which leave me with 10 more. I have been getting a score of 720 around but want to improve it to atleast 750. I still have atleast a month before my GMAT. The last 2 weeks I would like to give one test every alternate day.

I am thinking of buying some practice tests. Which tests would you recommend to me?

Thanks.

dunno about what you asked but just make sure you dont have a burnout. with 10 tests to go and only a month away, that is one test too many for me.

caveat: my personal opinion

Cheers and ATB

I will be doing Manhattan SC right now.. do we go over the 2003 soft copy available online? Would that suffice or do we have to go over a newer edition?

Thanks..

Please find my answers below:

1) what is the material i need for GMAT?
a. Courage
b. Determination
c. Timliness

Once you have all this material with you, you may go ahead to look for some of the following stuff.
d. refer to the following link for the books that you need to have.
http://www.pagalguy.com/discussions/yagwa700-q-50-v-37-25023470 --> post by Nitiman.
This is from where i also started my preps...

2) what all is available free online?
Enough of material is available online...esnips.com should be your first destination, then simply try googling..you will find enough of them...
Rest, you'll have to ... 😞 ...purchase...

3) what all material and books i need to buy?
Simple...only the ones that you dont find on net...:D

4) what should be my study plan for the next 2 months?
Have started my preps a few days back only...
May be some experienced person is required to answer that perfectly...
But this is what i do.
As i am working, i cant spare more than 2 hrs on weekdays...
Weekends i try to put in as many hours as possible...sometimes the time stretches to 8-10 hrs...sometimes 5-6 hrs only...and sometimes...on party days...1-2 hrs only...;)
So, in nutshell, its not quantity ...but the quality of time that you spend...is what i feel...

Started preparing with some basics, such as manhattan sc, Manhattan Gmat archive for quant, and then jumped on to OG...

Seniors...please correct me or give me directions if i have stated anything which you might think is not up to the mark...

Regards.

Hey Pguys...
I need a diagnostic test for gmat desperately...
Please give me some pointers...

Also,
I have the exe named 'GMATPrepSetup.exe'. Its size is 25.5 MB. This contains 2 practice tests. Am not sure, whether these are standard tests...before taking them..i need to know the genuineness of these tests. Is this the one that we call GMAT power prep software...

Thanks in advance...

Hi All,

I have a question on the scoring pattern..

I gave my first GMAT Prep and got a 750 ( 50 Q+ 41 V), the break and resultant score being totally consistent with what people score in the actual test. However, what puzled me was the no of wrongs with which I managed to get a score like that..!! My break up of rights and wrongs was as follows:

50=Quants (30R+7W) and
41=Verbal ( 32R+8W+1(no attempt) )

As I have read at many places, one gets a 50 when he has got almost every right (a leeway of 3-4 questions is fine), but here I got 7 wrong (approx 20%) and still managed a 50. The same can be said about verbal.

Though I know that "how scores are calculated" is something which doesnt have too much official material available, still its important for me to know to get an idea about how many questions can I afford to miss on my way to reach a certain score.

Any replies would be really helpful..!!

Hi Neeraj

The scoring system works somewhat like this:
No of mistakes determine your sectional score
When you make those mistakes determines your overall score.

What this tells that even though you got 7 Qs wrong in QA, you probably had them wrong towards the latter part of the test.
Similarly for VA. So your individual section scores combined to form the 750 even though by your standards the no. of mistakes were large.
Conversely had you made those mistakes towards the beginning of the test, then you would have had a lower score with somewhat similar sectional scores.

BTW that is a good score in the prep test. ATB

Hi Kunal,

First of all..thanks for replying..!! Coming to the question, I am aware of the fact that mistakes made in the latter part of the test doesnt make much of a difference to the score, however
in my case my first 5 mistakes were made by the 26th question so not sure what to interpret..!! Guess I should just concentrate on getting maximum questions right without worrying too much about scores.. :)

Btw..Are you a part of this journey or is it over for you..??!!!

Neeraj

hey kunal,
your e-snips link not working

Kaplan link would be available by today evening people interested in having the image of kaplan can PM

Hi neeraj
the journey is definitely over for me. phew! :)

mistakes in the first 5 and then upto the 15th are the ones that count the most. this has been my analysis from various inputs of scores across the 600 to 770 range.

There is also the additional chance that there might be a test question or two that you might get wrong but which is not counted in the overall score.

but the idea is: concentrate on the first 15 questions. take as much time as you want but avoid mistakes!

Hello all,

I'm jumping aboard the gmat-prep bandwagon too.

While searching for the major prep books online, I noticed 2008 editions of 'Cracking the GMAT - Princeton Review' and 'KAPLAN GMAT 2008 Premier' were released last month (June 2007).

Are there any reviews or recommendations for the newer editions?

Thanks in advance for your comments. Cheers.

hey tinka,

I am disappointed man. You really need to learn how to advise than be sarcastic. All you do is show off....going round and round the bush.

I know one thing for sure "Half knowledge is dangerous and should not be conveyed".

Can anyone tell me if for additional practice are there more Official GMAT prep software tests that can be purchased? I have downloaded the two free tests from the mba.com. But for more practice and accurate assessment of my progress I want to practice from more official tests.

If they are not available then I guess I will rely on Kaplan and Princeton review.

Thanks

I want OG11. Can anyone help please?
