Congrats!Wats your score? How much the material costs?
Which of these will you prefer and why ? I know many of you suggested of doing it your self, however for working people need to get into some coaching class, else very hard to find time.
Jhony, all the more reason to prefer the self-study route. If you feel you are always short of time due to your office, how will you manage the coaching classes and then the self-study? Coaching classes will not be able to completely overhaul you in a matter of hours, you need to come back and devote time to study. So, a normal weekend with coaching will look something like this: Sat: Classes 09:00 - 13:00, go back, self study for another 3-4 hours. Sun: Repeat the above. Total effort of around 16hrs over the weekend.
Additionally, if you only study on weekends, I can tell you from my experience, you need to be extraordinarily brilliant to score 700+ GMAT needs constant attention, even if you give it 2 hours on weekdays and 4 hours on weekends (2*5 + 4*2 = 18 hrs), you will fare better than putting in those additional hours going to the coaching classes.

I'm also working in Bangalore , having 4.5 yrs work ex in IT sector and planning to take up GMAT around end of April. If you guys have formed a group mailing list then please let me know to whom i should send my mailing address. If not , then it's beneficial to have a common google group where we can share material/discuss doubts/keep up the momentum.
Anyone who wants to sync up for a shared study plan is welcome.
I guess my post will be similar to the posts seen here already, since I am in a similar kind of situation as yourselves. Just to emphasize, I have an experience of 4 years in the R&D; domain (energy sector) currently. I am primarily looking towards a 1-yr MBA and an executive one suits me fine. But the kind of scores or profiles required for the admissions of the same are phenomenal!! I would request my fellow puys from this thread to include me into the mailing list, if any, or to provide me a google group link (that too if any :)). If there is none, I guess its high time we get together and works our socks off... Lets begin in the right earnest.
I have seen a lot of people mentioning 'bibles', 'RC Grails' for GMAT, can anybody please elaborate, what exactly are those books (name/publisher) ... !! That'd be of great help...
Totally agree with the assumptions and I realised the assumption point 2, when I had gone to meet Arun one day. While I was waiting, I jumped into a discussion with 2 students on a SC question from OG10 and it was definitely a stimulating experience.
Assumption point 1 is also very valid because your experience and structured teaching module would obviously provide answers to a lot of questions.
Again, this is a very personal decision, and self study can very well backfire on anyone. I was probably lucky to have managed it without coaching classes :)
I hope that many confused souls get their answers after reading these posts, that's the whole point, isnt it? And I have been recommending people to take demo classes before joining, so hopefully the confusion can get cleared when they get the "feel" of the classes !
Funny what teaching GMAT can do to you. Your argument seemed quite apt for a CR question; so, let's do this quick exercise (strictly non-partisan):
Question. In course of GMAT preparation, coaching classes cannot overhaul GMAT aspirants in a matter of hours and aspirants inevitably need to come back and devote time to study. A normal weekend with coaching will entail typical 4 hours for classes on Saturday and Sunday each.
"sausi007", a GMAT trail blazer's experience shows that a self study regimen of 2 hours on weekdays and 4 hours on weekends (2*5 + 4*2 = 18 hrs per week), is much better than the additional hours aspirants would spend in the coaching classes.
What is the Assumption in the above argument?
Answer: As in almost all CR questions, we must start by first identifying the "conclusion". In this case, the conclusion is quite evident:
A self study regimen, is much better than the additional hours aspirants would spend in the coaching classes.
Since this is an Assumptions question, the most common category of Assumption is the one that bridges the gap between the premise and the conclusion. So, let us see if we can identify few assumptions that bridge this gap:
1. Joining Coaching does not impose an addded discipline on aspirants, to observe the study regimen recommended for GMAT preparation.
2. The students in the classroom coaching do not effectively interact with one another during the class, in a manner that stimulates and benefits all students.
Apart from the above, there are a couple of very important assumptions that are still missing. Let us see if someone is able to identify those; else this post will just age naturally and find its place in annals.
By the way, the "Question" statement above has a crucial Sentence correction type of error as well. Let us see if someone can figure it out.
p.s. sausi007, I think Arun already mentioned it in one of his mails. Really appreciate you are finding time to help aspirants, even after your GMAT is through.

I wish you would have read other people's posts before posting this question ! You do get a lot of info, reading other puys' posts.

I will be moving to Blr shortly and therefore would like to join this group for preparing for GMAT. To give a brief about myself, I am not new to GMAT - have taken GMAT before, this time my only aim is to get a target score of 730+.
Self study is the best way forward. How are you all interacting? Gtalk/FB ???
