I want to know what role acadamic record(say Engineering percentages) play in GIM final merit list???

Engg percentage: 78
Exp: 14 months (In a a local company)
XIIth( State Board): 72
Xth( State Board): 75
all u guys r talking abt weightege. I couldn't convert UBS (95.17) with the same. Kuch nahi hota . Lagta hai admission ke waqt GOVINDA wali GAMBLER dekh lete hain(Main chahe ise doon main chahe use doon mere mergi).

I am in the same boat as yours. With 95.48 in CAT and an outstanding interview (as perceieved by me) I could only get a rank of 188! I am at a loss to find out why. You also could not convert as they don't award separate marks for experience. I was so confident of converting UBS call, and hence was quite disappointed. I have ony GIM and Nirma left, other than Tapmi and IMI waitlists. Lets hope for the best. Wishing all the best to you.

How much weightage does GIM give to XAT score? I have 96.31%ile.....GD-PI was kinda OK nothing gr8....does anybody know what is the breakup for GD, PI, XAT score, acads, etc?
when r the results finally coming out ?? ... last week of march i saw on the site ...but now i hear 2nd week of april !! .. wierd man !! .. get it out fast and over with !! ... during my interview the profs were telling they want to take it out early so that they dont miss out on the good students who take admissions in other institutes !!

Well here everyone trying to ask about their chances and all.........
One with 90+ percentilers(especially engineers) should breathe easy...they will make it...
Some very good people with good acadamics,gd/pi with 85+ percentilers r expected to make it.
Not much hope for people below 85 percentiles
Thats what i think
i dont think so pak, as if it is a criteria than person with less than 85% should not get a call. i dont know for what they r looking but i can guess that they r looking for some one optimistic and humane person.

As declared in the web site hope the GIM results be OUT by then..no later than atleast 31st MARCH...had a talk to ur senior Upanshu @ Ahemadabad(Pass-out).He really helped a lot n certainly even aftr giving signing amount 2 Fore.I wud like 2 go for GIM n forfeit my 55K.
Guys plz talk 2 the admissions-till now atleast they must be sure when the results will be out,u guys been tentative still will nt gve a good picture 2 folks like us n even 2 our parents n bro n sis who at times sneak in 2 have a feel of the current scenarios.

Guess this time is one of the worst, a time of unsurity coupled with the fact that you dont really know what is "the" crtieria GIM faculty are looking for .I guess we went through it last year as well...
Anyways....getting straight to the point:GIM faculty do look for a few things:
1) Common Sense- Logical thinking, ability to handle any sort of question .Here PI is extremely important.So all you guys had an excellent interview...it should be easy.
2) background- well the 50 Engineers cut off may seem harsh but as Gary says and i second it totally all top B-Schools have that same standard.But grapewine has it that in Calcutta centre the number of engineers that were selectd for GD/PI were a lot less than B.Coms etc. So other centres ,Engineers you may have a higher sucess rate.
3)Marks-and XAT cutoffs. Well 95% definaltely stands out better than an 85...but lemme assure you a lot of 96%ile's last time didnt make it while a lot of 80-85%ile made it. But yes luck n GD/PI do count. Its like this , if uve done a decent job in ur 10, 12 and Extra curricular Activites( which by the way was my ticket to GIM- very under rated factor on ur CV but holds tremendous weight in life) along with work ex..usually are the things faculty look out for..

hi naveen..can u give us some idea about no. of waiting students confirmed last yr. We can take a look at the larger picture becoz many have gim as a back up option..n sum1 like me who does not have any back up need 2 luk at it..chao

bhai log..apunka to dimaag satak gayela hai..thrice a day daily i visit this website n lookin at all u guys i feel can feel the heat..man this s*cks..waitin 4 results..sab kehte hai ki results ke baare bhool jayo..karm karo fal ki ichha na rakho..koi bachao..n guys the worst part is..i gave n interview 4 a job n the results were expected arnd 21st..now i hear that results r delayed n they'll declare it next week :crazyeye: ..helllllllpppp..gimwalo kuchh to raham karo humpe..

well its really uncomfortable - this wait...but till then we have to do some tp... i tried to read thru the prospectus again...
now i may be jumping the gun here but still i would like to ask this question to navin, fabulist and spiderman... guyz plz frankly tell us abt the hidden cost factor... according to the prospectus, the overall expenditure including the room rent(but not the mess bill) comes to about 2,50,000...i dont consider food bill as a hidden cost...this expenditure that i have mentioned is made up by the following:
Admission, Tuition Fee, Exams, Library, IT Services, Establishment, Convocation, Room Expenditure, Admission Fee and Caution Deposits...
so is there any hidden cost? i expect there to be a laptop/pc cost(read something abt it in last year's thread)...but anything else???? some funny deposit or anything? also plz let us know if there's any expected appreciation in the figures mentioned by GIM in the prospectus(IIM's have declared it today)...may just help the more fortunate ones of us to plan a bit...

if the faculty nd infrastructure at gim is good(correct me if i'm wrong) then why are placements nt so great.tellme ,if i gt a call ,will it be worth it to spend 2 yrs there(the other option being to drop out n work n give exams another shot).plz tell me all the good things that u know about gim.

1. Plz tell us about the GIM placements in numbers. (I mean salaries: Highest, Lowest, Av, Median)
2. Can i get my own laptop? If i get the notebook thru GIM are the prices any better?
3. Most importantly, I have a call from ICFAI, Hyderabad and SCIT, Pune (IT Business Management)... does it make sense to choose GIM over ICFAI and SCIT?

second even aftr havin good infra n academics its placement is been questioned here n there vis a vis even fore/kj somaiya/icfai h'bad/bim..wats actually the take away ..the real salary package they provide...this yr picture if u can portray as in wat was the highest...lowest..average etc.
do u hve lateral placements there? n if diffential placement exist there or not?apart frm these, is there been any new co. which came for the campus this time.
I hope u understand the criticality of the above quries as many of us r willin 2 leave fore/kjs/icfai h'bad/liba etc...me personally i hve already paid 55K for Fore still feel GIM wud b better...however do quanitfy this with stats n numbers
