hi guys through with my gim gd/pi at delhi.
my gd pi started at 9 in the morning we where in all 7 people including 2 girls.first we had our gd.the topic of our gd was "page-3".all 7 person had 2 make individual starting statement and concluding statement.
then we had our pi.my 1 st pi was on domain knowledge he asked pretty general questions .in the second pi the interviwer just asked me to tell whatever i feel would further advance my candidature.that was it.both interviews where hardly og 8-10 minutes.

My centre was ST. Xaviers,kolkotta. 8th march, 8:45 am.
The managemtn of the whole thing was not very professional.2 professors conducted the whole process.

(if there were any pgites in my group please tell me), we were 13 people.

First Group discussion, topic: Co-altion government is desirable in a mutli lingual and multi cultured country like india, first intro on the topic by each student, then discussion and summary by each person, then we were asked to write a summary.

Next 2 interviews for each person. 2 panels, only one person in each panel.

interview 1

q) asked abt my background, saw my 10th,12th marks etc
a)i told him
q) so u r a studious girl, anything apart from studies??
a) yes sir, i have participated in extra cirr, in college festivals,organising etc
q)ah, college fest..please dont tell me tht..its just once a year
a) in my college we had several events thru out the year.
q)hmm..u specialised in fin, what did u learn
a) fin markets,fin management
a) ok tell me whats repo
a) told him...ready forward contract ...etc..
a) whats a call option
a) told him , but he was confused(my mistake here ), made a face like wht m i saying!!!
q) why do we use median when we have mean?
a) coz in case when there r large variations in data, median is the better representative of the group.
a) ' better representative of the group'..wht does tht mean...why do we use mean??
a) sir to know a signle value which represents a group.
q) wht do u mean by 'REPRESENTS the GROUP?'
a) god how do i explain this!!!!duh! i try to explain but he makes faces!!
Q) ok u have done fin..how will u study HR,mark..they r so diff

before i went inside, the other professor came in and asked him to hurry up..it was getting late.

ok u canleave now..duh!! he was in a hurry tp get rid of me!!!

and i think interviews, gd's were more of formalities..they give weightage to acads and xat percentile!!!

Had my GD/PI today at Goa(what an awesome place)
The GD was conducted. We were 15 of us. Somehow we didnt make it a fish market. However nothing solid caqme out of it. I think they were looking for good commuinication skills there.
Then the 2 interviews - much the same. No technical questions. But I think I replied really well, conducted myself really well and effused confidence.
I hope I am through.
Sad that couldnt meet Gary inspite of talking to his friend once. The second time I called he didnt pick up the phone:huh:

mine was on 8th, culd'nt post anythin yesterday was chillin out at friends place after int. , well mine gd details same as by skaimal(arun) only thing i need to clarify is the summary is not supposed to be 1 page but only 1/2 page max.
n the best part no chics or females to say(too itchy).

My pi, well the 1st one was cool (personal or HR as some would call it). Q's -introduce urself, why mba, any q's about gim (finished) lasted abou 10 mins .

2nd pi was tech oriented,Q's -tell me abou urself, more info abou my family, tech Q's for Comp. Sc. Engg. -

what are DBMS.
what is relational DBMS.
what is OODBMS.
What is Linux.
What are it's benefits to a new user.
Are there any companies sellin Linux.
Why do u consider it as free.
What is Data Warehouse.
Can a government office storehouse containing files stored over the years be used as a warehouse.
What is ERP.
What knowledge about s/w apart from Curriculum.
What is ActiveX(my expertise).
Why less acads.
Any Q's about GIM.

Hi,

Please do not judge your chances of getting thru by the time for which u had been interviewd. I still remember that my PI was among the shortest of duration in my interview. This will be true for any interview of your lives. There is a common view that the interviewer creates opinion abt the interviewee in the first 2 mins...the rest of the duration is spent in validating the beliefs that the interviewer has created abt the candidate. SO need to feel happy if u have had a long interview or feel sad if u have had a shorter one. DURATION of the interview is NOT an indication of your getting selected. Hey catophobia, i under your concern, but these things happen in many GD/PI's, i dare say even in some of the best institutes also. Who knows they may have made an impression abt u in the GD and on basis of ur acads / CV etc etc.

A paper distributed to write a summary of the gd whether it is 1 page or 1/2 page just write clearly and use proper english

Both Interviews focus on ur acads, work exp, aspirations, family background and may be some tech ques but not in my case. first interview was abt 15 mins and second jus 5 mins. advice to all jus be confident, frank and articulate. leave the rest to the panel.

It's looking dificult as options r really not for me. Just waiting for the result of UBS nd counting for GIM. how many ppls r there in a group in Delhi. Somewhere it's arround 6 and some one is telling approx 10.
So can u ppl make an clear picture for the number of candidates coming in a group.
one thing is sure that they r going to grind in Acads. bcoz i hav got just gud percentage any how .
one of PGite written here taht in GD basically they r lookign for the communication skill but as there is no fish market so is better than any thing else.
Can any one told me abt the weightege of different scores i mean XAT percentile, GD and PI.

nobody can exactly tell what an institute looks for in a candidate or the weightages given to acads, work ex etc. all u can rely on to an extent is the info given by members belonging to that institute.

i had my gd/pi yesterday. ihad a good GD but one of the int which stressed on my acads was bad , the other one was good. i have 97.35 in xat, good acads. is the interviews on academics plays a major role in the selection process. can i expect a call.plz let me know

regarding pi one was more of hr type n all gen stuff other one was:grab:one was old guy chain-smoker ask everybody that questions in field in which one is not interested myself grilled on finance n i was .

hi frens..i'm new here as far as postin goes..coming straight 2 point..i gave gd/pi of gim..gd topic..corruption is the price we r payin 4 democracy..n othr i know was bride burning n dowry..i thgt we cud have had better ones like relatin 2 budget or governors or etc..anyways..interview was very easy..never askd anythn technical..2 intvws..only one person takin intview at at time..i tht it wud be a stress intvw..anyways awaitin 4 result..lesse..hey guys aftr seeing tht intvw i wan sum kinda encouragement frm a senior or a pass out abt the college..please help me:huh:

any idea when the results are to be expected. i think gd pi is going to end tomorrow all over india for gim.may be at some centres they might have disclosed the desirable result dates

the thing about results, at my interview on 9th, i asked the interviewer (when he said do u hav any questions..) abt the final calls... he said "this time next month" but prior to that, in the intro session, they had said april end may begining...

at my gd/pi, on the 9th, one of the ppl asked when final calls will be out, he said march 22!

we'll just have to wait n see..

Anyways ..when the result gonna b out..he sd specificallt nt b4 18th as i told them abt my 18th deadline for FORE (55K NON REFUNDABLE)..
GD ws kool..Topic "Pre-marital sex is harmless"..group of 6..seems 2 were late as such hve 2 wait 4 the aftrnoon slot..plenty of time n 30 sec 2 conclude followed by a written conclusion..i must say ws just 2 mns prvded by them rather than 4 mns..so b fast if at ISI ,DELHI
Interview 1st with MR. ANAND..jolly guy..kool interview..all personal n heart 2 heart talk..went nice for abt 30 mns
then came the stress kinda interview..mr mirchandani..man that guy is smethg..amazing knwledge with real sharp questions..b prapred 4 acad related questions..

wellas GIM gave call to everybody who is having a percentile more than 80. :wow: So it is going to be tough any ways. As GD topics r general so everyone is thinking that he has done well in GD's:) . So think PI will be deciding factor here. As in delhi center the PI is really cool so everyone is getting wsure one seat for himself ha ha

Had gd pi on 12th.
well the faculty told that lowest sal this time was 2.4 and average 3.5 lakh.
The faculty themself told me.
ANd he was very happy in saying that our infrastructure is not good....why he was saying all this???????

well, i suppose everyone gets to choose their own nicks...
about the pi, well, i think they were just testing how serious you are and what are your motivations...
by the way, how is the final list going to be drawn? they will assign weightages to xat score, gd score and pi score plus other factors like workex and acads.. then just add-up the scores, right? or are there supposed to be any subjective items? like if the interviewer feels for some reason, candidate A is not good enough for an mba and gives him low marks for pi or in the subjective section, will they still compute his marks and include those in the final list OR will they simply ignore the person totally?
