1) Its good if you have workex but its ok if you dont have any and nothing to be worried about. There is a marked difference in the placements only if you have workex more than 2 years, because then you would qualify to be placed laterally. But the number of years of experience it reqd to be placed laterally would depend on each individual company, for some its 18 months for some it can even be 3 years.
2)There are no specific dress codes in GIM like formals except during some exceptions. You are obviously expected to bring formal clothes along with you when you come. couple of rules on clothes that come to my mind are:
- no shorts or sleeveless t-shirts allowed to class
- no capris to class
- There will be days on which formals would be announced and everyone in campus will have to wear formals. these would mostly be days when eminent people from the industry are visiting the campus and during placements and other seminars.
- formals would mean. formal shirt, formal trousers, tie, formal shoes and socks.
- In the letters which you will receive from GIM you will also be given the colors for the tie, trousers and shoes. the shirt will be white.
thats it for now. will post more as and when things come to my mind

I dont think it will be that big a problem studies wise if u miss a few days of classes and you can catch up later.However my sincire advice to you is to call GIM and ask them to connect you to the Dean Mr Ramesh .You should try and clarify this matter about not being able to come in 1st week and then it will be all OK.

One query, are bikes allowed on campus , me no hardcore biker or anything, seedha saadha commuter , dont want to sell it , and no1 else to use it .. so wondering whether I can bring it with me

Please bring your bikes. yes it is allowed. There is place to park. And you will require the bikes as soon as classes start so please dont wait for the term break to bring them. Bring the bike along with you when you come to campus. This is because you will be doing lots of projects in the industrial estates and will have to travel around goa for the same. Also everything you will need is in panjim which is about 4-5 kms from campus, you will need to commute. And there will be lot of late night outings for many things you will see when you come to campus about those. So a bike is a definite must, if you have one bring it along with you when you come to campus.

i am online now, so not surprising that i wrote back real fast. anyway apart from work you will also need a bike to go to the many beautifull places in goa. Its amazing how much you can see in goa when you have a bike. If there is any place you will enjoy biking its in goa. So your bike is imperative. ~Raj!.

got the letter tday....
some of the key features go like this:
- please pay 30k on or b4 15th april which represents part payment
- remaining part of 1st term fees 30600/- is to be paid b4 5th may
- all payments to be made via dd route
- medical form attached with the letter is to be duly filled in by a doc and to sent by 15th may
- academic session commences on 23rd june with regn at 9:00 am
- certi to be carried r school leaving, grad with mark sheets, mark sheets of HSC and SSC, migration certi from college, work ex, 4 stamp size photos.
- hostel will open to recieve us from 21st june.
well, i guess thats abt it in a nutshell, and those puys who havent recd the letter shall soon be recieving it sooner or later....but u now knw when to book ur tkts to Goa
those of u who r seeking loan from panjim, shall plan out a common approach to the bank...wat say?

The school leaving certificate means the TC right , I dont remember having it , will have to go to my school :(
Talked to the prini of my coll he told me that...I have to come to the coll to collect the form and deposit it at the univeristy :(
Will gim give us some time incase there is any delay

You will require all the documents which have been mentioned in the letter. But usually the pgpoffice will give the students a time frame within which you can submit the documents. So if there is a delay its ok, but you will have to tell the pgpoffice on the day you join when you are going to give the missing documents. once again you will require all the documents which have been mentioned in the letter, so please make arrangements to get the same incase you dont have some of them, its imperative.
