what should i do??
looking at my profile, what do u suggest me? i can not take that much long leave from my company, i will have to resign.
Any one from mumbai joining GIm,plz contact

hey anil....
the snaps r gr8....infact GIM in the snaps resembles quite a lot to wat we saw wen we were there for our GD/PI.....;-), i think that was a bad one!!

i guess, if there r a major no. of ppl going for the loan option...and that too via any of the panjim's branch....then lets jointly goto andhra bank....
this cud help in 2 ways:
1) from say 9%, the rate cud come down to 8.5%...and
2) less hassles in the processing time...

comments, if any, r welcome....

smiles,

Tapan.

Hey peace...
if they will reduce the rate by .5 it will be beneficial to all of us
i am going for the loan and will take it from panjim only.
and i think there will be many more peoples who will be doing the same thing
So lets plan how to go about it

Hi,
I am from bombay.
I have 2yrs of experience and am planning to major in finance and minor in marketting.
My cell is 9820188895 so feel free to call.
I am definately joining GIM - went to the campus and was really great. Also the professors seem to be really well qualified and are residential which i think is a great plus.

Hey megha,
First of all congrats fr making it to GIM...

Well, i dont think we can go into comparsion business on this forum (stirctly prohibited bt moderators) ... but yes i can clear some of ur doubts.

1. About regional placements - None of student from last batch (batch of 2004-06) has been placed in Goa... ( in fact none of the 71 companies which registered for placements was from Goa). We have some to the top notch companies coming to our campus from all over India. Most of the placements r in Mumbai and banglore... but we have companies coming (and students joining them) from Delhi, Noida, Hydrabad, chennai, Calcutta, Pune and some other cities. So never ever think that GIM has somethng regional placements associated with it.

2. You location - Dont even think in terms of location... u have to join the best MBA college based on merit.... and not where ur based... believe me during ur 2 yrs of stay at any top mba college, u will hardly get any time to return back to ur home...
And just think if we join institutes based on their location... whos gonna join IIMA, or XLRI, or IITk (fr engineering).

I can tell u this much, GIM has lots of advantages associated with it... top notch faculty, good placments, really good environment fr learning.... and last but not the least... GOA.
similary ther may be some advantages with IMI too.... So take a decision based on ur research and based on merit... and not location etc.

Hope this helps u.

@ Harsh - cheer up... u dont require any documents by 15th april 😃

@ nnanakbbng: I dont think its even worth discussing... GIM IS THE BEST

@ aspire - As i told earlier, u will definitely get a loan... just reach panaji... contact Andhra bank... one of our batchmates has the same case as u (father retired officer)... he got the loan sanctioned in just 2 days.

@ passa - well passa, i think it all depends on wht u actually wanna do and wht r ur choices.. if ur really inclined to do an MBA ( thnking not in terms of salary etc.) and GIM is the only choice u have ... i will say... come and join GIM... it will provide u lot of value addition... (i personally believe it will be a better choice to join GIM this year, rather thn applying again fr CAT next yr)

@ Rahul - last year it was slighly less then 4 lac ( including everythng...even ur food expenses @3000 pm) ... it will be approximately same this yr too.

Its heartening to see the enthu of ur batch.... ... keep pouring in ur queires... we r waiting

Three cheers to GIM batch of 2006-08

cheers,

Anil

Hip Hip Hurray!!!

@nil:U dont know sir,how excited i am to come to Goa...I am sincerely thinking of leaving Tapmi..if i get it...Kj i have already left...

Go GOA..(I love the tourism ad that comes on Tv..)

hey folks

Its better late than never.I am hardly into pagalguy these days as i am mostly travelling here n there.Ok lets come to the point direactly , same time last yr I was facing the same dilemma as many of u must b facing now.I got multiple calls besides GIM like Fore , KJS ,TAPMI , ICFAI H'bad etc etc. I even forfeited 55K for FORE, the reason it does nt worth it.

GIM is anyday better than all the above collegs, besides who would nt want to do MBA frm GOA,cmmon guys!!!On the serious note it really provides everythg u want in a 2 yr course - great faculty , luvly location , great hostel, wonderful colleagues and amazing placement.
Go thru the last years thread to knw further details. Many hve left one or the other above mentioned college for GIM n they all r happ including me .

All the best to our junis..Lokking forward to met u guys n gals soon.WELCOME TO THE FAMILY (hoping u guys will join )

regards n Thnks
pm me if needed

hi harsh
All provisional certificates will do as of now n they give time till sep end 2 submit all originals.Dont worry they r very very flexible and considerate about this,so dnt worry.
Do get the migration certificate if u can coz taking that ewquire sme time, our batchmates mostly missed on that & had 2 visit their college again aftr the 1st term break ard sep end.
By the way i again repeat they r very flexible,so no worry...welcome to GOA ....hve a blast mate ...
c ya guys soon

I think till the seniors respond , u should pm andy_jaan , as he knows IMI like the back of his hand

haan jaan kya irada hai bhai .............u no i got seven diff. pm's for all kinda suggestions:wow: ..............bhaiyon main khud frsher hun or CORPORATE meri pehli film hai. .......OOPS.......i mean corporate world mein abhi paida honewala hoon .
well but jokes apart have replied everybody via pm n even on this thread itselfs points made by @nil sir r further enlightening ones ............really @nil sir thnks a ton for all valuable suggestions and a BIG HUG for the PICS!!...........I M LOVING IT
baki for everybody else...........go back n recall what were your issues for going for MBA n u'll c that the same will help u solving every doubt in chosing/leaving an institute
so a general points of introspection shud b like................. faculty, infrastructure, network of the institute, reputation(brand value),transperancy( ),ur seniors ,Placments (but in terms of organisation and job profile not merely MANIPULATED avg. salaries) ,cost of program, location(only if ths GOAAAAAAA )...................baki raat ko :drinking: :drinking:
bataoonga
BOTTOMLINE ABT GIM................GIM does have or do a lot many activities without much hype which others create a lot hela vu abt ............for instance one institute was telling tht they have the best holi program allover INDIA ..............isliye DHIKHAVE PE MAT JAO>>>>>>>>APNI AKAL LAGAO.

P.S. Just as refrence posting my one of the replies in next post.

hey ppl

nnanakbbng: well i landed up in GIM while tryin to obtain ICFAI Hyd form. I was buyin it at Career Forum last year where I was doin my correspondence preparation and they advised me against going for ICFAI (any center). They said if I can't wait for the IIM's then I should do the MBA from GIM as its atleast respected in the industry. Mind you they didn't mention IMI, TAPMI or BIM. Their advice was straight - Go for GIM.

passa: u have a great profile. but according to me joining GIM is better than trying urself at CAT, XAT and GMAT next year and trying to get into one of the "best". i would advise u to join.

megha: Local placements??? in our batch only 23 people are doing their summers in Goa. Rest all are undergoing summer internships all around the country. As Anil said no one from 2004-06 was placed in Goa. personally i think its a misfortune coz there's no better place to live in than Goa (last year's India today survey ranks it 2nd in India). anyway we managers are supposed to look at corporate growth so there's no better place to go than Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai and Delhi - that's where the majority of 2004-06 were placed. i dont like to make inter-institute comparisons but personally i would have dropped IMI for GIM.

maverick_rahul: i have taken a loan of Rs. 3.8 lakhs. my laptop's been semi-paid for by the bank. So including the laptop you are looking at a figure of about 4.1 lakh. You can raise 10 K from ur own side and take a loan of 4.0 lakh. Whatever be ur amount of loan u will need a guarantor's (dad's) signature on ur form. the only advantage that you have by keeping the loan amount less than 4 lakh is that u pay interest at a lesser rate, there are lesser hassles and there are some service charges (subjective to the bank. check websites) which are waived off.

keep shooting.

cheers
