Seniors.. U told that that the first receipt has to be paid by us and then on showing the receipt,the bank will reimburse the money...Isn't it possible that the bank itself pays the first instt..without me having the onus to arrange that approx 50,000 bucks on my own.. Plz enlighten... Regards...
Well rahul, it is very much possible tht the bank pays even ur first intallment instead of reimbursing it. For tht u have to get ur loan sactioned beofore the payment of first installment (i mean bofore 15th April in ur case) .. and u can try fr it... its very much possible ... last year even i paid my first installment by loan.
Well, believe me once ur selected in GIM loan is one thng, abt which u should be least bothered
I tell why i m saying all this.... Last year even i was running here n ther to get a loan... seniors told me tht i can get a loan very easily as soon as i arrive in Goa... but then as GIM doesnt have any formal agreement with any bank so i was always supecious abt it... I tried fr loan in delhi.... and finally after putting lot of effort i was able to get a loan from Allahabad bank, New Delhi
But when i arrived in Goa and once went to Andhra Bank with a freind of mine, i found tht they (read andhra bank) were very proactive to give an loan to GIM students.... wht u need to do is tht u just reach ther.... n u get it .. Really... and best part was on better terms n conditions thn any other bank (interest i think 9.25%)... And then i decided to took another loan from this bank (to void hassles in getting a dd every term from delhi) .. and i got it sanctioned in on second day of applying (i had all documents) .. and dont worry abt documents at all ... they give u all the time...
And one fact fr u... In our batch theres no one who wanted to take a loan but he couldnt (fr whtsoever reason)
So chill out... contact andhra bank or SBI in Goa asap if u want them to pay even ur first installment... and if u want a reimbursement, u can get ur loan sanctioned after u join GIM.
I hope this clarifies all ur loan related queries... if u have any more i will be more thn happy to clarify.

As far as my PI is concerned, i was asked just 2 questions each in both the interviews.
Interview 1 So you are from South Point i said yes sir Tell me something about your father's business. Said Would you like to ask anything Sir what is the student teacher ratio Total Duration of the interview 5 mins max.
Interview 2 So from this college itself.(interview centre at kolkata) I said yes sir. What do you mean by GDP? GDP = consumption + investment + exportsimports What is the GDP of INDIA? 33 lac crore approximately

After the results i'm still in delimma that where did i went wrong? What else do i need to improve upon. even if i try next year what extra things i should do? I feel like calling them up and **********
And mind it friends this is not only with me. we were 5 friends, all with the same kind of educational background and equally high xat scores. none of us got through, not even in the waiting list. and we all are from kolkata. we all had interviews of similar duration.

well I dont think you have to pay for the laptop along with the first installment. in fact Anil might be in a better position since he bought a laptop from the institute but as far as I know you pay for the laptop either alongwith the second installment or later.

But if they decide to go easy for the first term then u can enjoy quite a few of your weekends. Razzmatazz the cultural club will take care of a few of those weekends. And whatever happens u'll get ur share of free weekends to chill out and whatever a weekend in GIM is (free or stressed) it won't ever be boring.

@ Rajat - Well, u need a guarator fr loan, and if ur father can accompany u, ur loan might be sanctioned the same day, the day u apply fr it. On the other hand its not neccesary tht ur dad should accopany u. As i said earlier, once u to go to Andhra bank with the GIM offer letter they will not deny u loan, rather they will guide u in fulfilling all the fomalities. I tell u wht happens in case ur father doesnt accompny u... they send this form (which is to be signed by ur father/guarantor) to the nearest branch, wher ur father resides. and then ur father can go to tht branch and sign the form... in this case process takes arround one week.
@ Rashmi - Congrats fr joining team GIM... i assure u, u will never regret ur decision 😃
@ Rahul - u r not required to send laptop fee along with first installment (without laptop, u will be required to send a DD of Rs. 30,000 (as far as i remember.. it may be Rs. 35,000 too) ... and for waitlisted candidates its Rs. 25,000)
@ Prostuff - yes sir, they have already dispatched the letters... u will be getting ur letters in 2-3 days.
@ Sonal - Yes, 15 april is the last date fr sending the aforementioned DD to GIM

abt the loans: well my dad had some work around Goa and we fixed it up so that he could accompany me at the time of my joining the institute and hence my loan was sanctioned in 24 hrs. but the banks have worked out some other ways of getting things done it seems. one thing is for sure - no student of GIM who approaches a bank in Panjim with the bare minimum documents, will be refused an edu loan. GIM is held in high esteem by the bankers there.
abt ceremonious welcomes: well we will leave the ceremonies to the time when they are due. :)
My query is about the loan only , I had been to andhra bank's and sbi banks's website , there they have categorically mentioned that no security nor any third party guarantee si required for a loan upto 4 lacs .. Also Andhra bak has a MOU with GIM , and so offers special rates :) My problem is that my father has retired from service for quite a while , so was just wondering will this cause any problems for me , in getting the loan...
I think I will have to come down to goa, then only will get the real picture , I am trying to somehow get the number of panjim branch of andhra bank , so can hear from the horse's mouth ..
