Gim Batch Of 2005 - 2007....Its Rocking

Thanks!!

Guess it could be counted as an option to the full time course considering I do not want to take a break with the working corporate world (working in Goa itself).

You must be right abt the pgm being rigourous.

But considered it just the same as I wanted a formal education in an MBA since I have currently joined the Marketing diviosn with a corporate after an MCA?

Views please?

Well Matador as you are workin in Goa itself doin a part time MBA from GIM mite be a good idea but u will hav to consider a couple of factors

1.An MBA course whether part time or full time is very rigorous and balancing a job as well as concentrating on the course mite get a tad difficult

2.The full time course always has higher weightage to a part time one and if possible u should try for the former

Its a tough decision to make and i guess the best way out would be to talk to as many people as possible, get different opinions and only then try and make a decision.

Best of Lukk !!!

hey dudes welcome 2 the gang...n its full of engineers infact.anyways ll chat on sunday.ard 10-11 am(is it ok?).do we have a dedicated yahoo group..if nt create one n ya all do mention ur yahoo id/...

N yes GIM is anyday better than SIIB N UBS N ALL(for utopic stud n co.)...lets dont sacrifice a good college just b'coz we have deposited the signing amount.Look I m forfeitin my 55K of Fore FOR GIM.. n i thk its still a good option for me..its just that instead of 2.5L now the fee structure for me is like 3L...still economical than most n above all cmmon guys its life time decision...so lets pik the rite choice..so i second sri's views n others as well

N guys is there ant first list as such????(my roomie in 2nd list he ws askin if there is any 1st list as such???)

n zero anyday GIM is better than SIBM-CM...read ur message just sent u a pm now

about the study loan
go 4 either SBI or BOB> both offer it at 10.5% p.a.(no collaterals)
also u get a tax deduction on the loan once 'U' start repaying it, subject to a max deduction of Rs.40000! so the effective interest is ard 5-6% p.a. if u calculate! my father told me this (he's senior manager at IOB)
hope it helps

GIM doesnt have a nasty dresscode be assured. You just have to dress decently when you go to class,so no shorts in class , else rest is chillax

Hey anish..there is no first list. The so called "second list" is the only waitling list.

Gary

hi guyz
went to gym today to pay my fees as stipulated by the letter. Paid both the amounts of Rs.30k and Rs.21600 and reserved my seat. Askd the admissions block abt the hostel and laptop. Nothings been done as yet abt hostels and laptops, however GIM would inform us through post or mail abt the hostel and laptop details very soon possibly my mid may or or so. They also mentioned the laptops last year were with a combo drive and felt that this year they might be priced @ 50k- 60 k range.
So guyz I am going to buy the laptop thru GIM, and srinivas thanx for the loan info.

Hi. I'm Nishil Garg from Ahmedabad. Did my B.E in Computer Science. Studied at many places Ahmedabad, Pune, Delhi and now obviously Goa. Love to sing, watch TV and roam. Still a fresher. No workx.

A couple of days back i wrote 2 GIM Placement cell inquiring abt the placement n here si the respose...its official n have no frills attached...READ ON......
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Anish,
first of all congratulations for getting thru into one of the best B Schools

in India

now cmin to the point

we had 100 % placements last year

the highest was 5.7lacs while the average was approx 3.8

the first day saw 95% of the batch getting placed

I am attaching a word doc herewith, mentioning the rest of the details

apart from this, you may find the following info useful

the institute boasts of excellent infrastructure in the form of CMIE (hope

u've heard abt it), EBSCO, Encyclopaedia Brittanica online ed., 100mbps

leased line internet, and so on.........

the hostels are good by any standards, tho not flashy or state of the art,

but better than many that I've seen.

moreover a special mention about the faculty is mandatory as GIM still

boasts of one of the best faculty outside of the IIMs and the XLRI

Hope I have answered your questions

lookin forward to seeing u at GIM

ragards and the best of luck

Ph : (+91) 9890710258 PLACEMENTS 2005 (ITS OFFICIAL)

If the figures are anything to go by, then the Final Placements 2005 at Goa Institute of Management, Ribandar were a huge success in more ways than one. The Placement process, which began, as usual, on the 3rd Sunday of December, saw a staggering 95% of the batch being placed on day one itself. The whole batch of students was absorbed by the first 32 companies of the 55 that indicated their interest in recruiting Management Trainees from the Institute, and 177 offers were made to a batch of 103 with 1.68 offers per student.

The leading recruiters this year were IT & Software companies, the list reading the whos who of Indias IT sector, be it Wipro, Satyam, TCS, Cranes, Mastek, HCL Tech or NSE.IT.

Citibank, HDFC Bank, Kotak Group, ING Vysya, Darashaw, Batlivala & Karani, Development Credit Bank and ICICI Lombard were the leading recruiters from the financial sector.

The other major recruiters included Nicholas Piramal, ZeeTV, TVS Electronics, Ashok Leyland, TNS India, IMRB, Shoppers' Stop, Positive Moves, Ma Foi and Usha International.

The summers began in the September 2005 and had more than 70 companies showing their interest in picking students from various fields. Some of these companies included:
Consulting: Ernst & Young
Pharmaceuticals: Nicholas Piramal, GlaxoSmithKline
Manufacturing: Ashok Leyland
Banking & Finance: ING Vysya, Darashaw
FMCG: Godrej & Boyce, Usha International and Eveready
Retail: Shoppers Stop

GIM Director Dr. A. H. Kalro had this to say about the 2005 placements, This years placement has set new benchmarks for GIM as the number of offers per student, the average and the highest salaries have all gone up substantially. Above all there has been a favourable change in the profile of the companies visiting the campus this year.

To add to this, Prof. Anirban Sengupta, the Placement Coordinator said, GIM was being considered, over the last couple of years as an upcoming institute. However, this years placement record clearly establishes GIM as one of the top B-Schools of India.
