1.Here the private players are more active than the government people( KTC that is) but overall the bus service is okay. The bus service stops after 8:30-9:00 in the night and that would be some problem. All buses stop at the college and the coverage is also ok. I would suggest people to bring in their bikes if possible cuz it helps in doing the field projects( and believe me, there will be plenty of them)
2. All people who got thru last year got mails from andhra bank and SBI regarding loans. I personally feel SBI is the best and offers loans at the lowest interest rate(10.25%). I have taken the same and that too at Goa only. You will have these banks visiting the institute to advertise the loan offers.
3. ONE SUGGESTION: Why dont u people start a Yahoo Group wherein u can discuss issues reg. GIM.We had one last year and believe me it would be lot of fun.

Go ahead with MICA even if u are remotely interested in advertising / MR /Media kind of jobs. The initial sals wont be great but the inst reputation / faculty / grooming / infrastructure is excellent. But if the above isn't your cup of tea, u may not enjoy your stint there. So its about rethinking your priorities and deciding.

depends on what time u will arrive and how much luggage u carry. If u arrive early morning taxi is the best option. It would cost abt 400 bucks and 45 mins to 1 hour to reach GIM. U will have buses in the afternoons but its better to take taxi( u can always share taxis with a group of people) if u have lot of luggage

yes i am the same raghuveer. but i am not sure whether i'll be joining gim. have a merit no. of 212 at NM. but the next list will be out only to 18th april, while i have to send 30k to GIM by 16th.
in a serious dilemma as to go ahead with GIM.

i got few queries in my mind:
1) I know there's a nice Kadamba Bus Service in Goa...but is that enuf for the roaming that we might have to do for academic purposes?(leave alone the other more imp purposes)...in short, is a vehicle advisable or not...as it is a residential school 15 minutes by road from Panajim - thats why the doubt arose in my mind...
2) vikram, did they send a schedule of expenditure with the letter? and did u get it by courier or by post? and have they mentioned any bank that prefers GIM students in issuing edu loans? (like LIBA)...

btw, i saw the name Raghuveer from Hyd in the list that Anish had compiled...hey were u there at IIMB for the gd/pi on 8th march afternoon batch? if yes, then at least three out of that batch have converted...nithin was there too...3 out of the same batch - nice gd at least...

Hey BTW wanted to know if anyone has an idea about us having bikes at the hostel? are we allowed to have bullets too? cuz some hostels dont allow bikes, and others say only 100cc bikes no bullets, they make far too much noise etc? any idea anyone??
Also was wondering, has everyone got their letters? I havent received mine as yet!

man whoever going 2 GIM, personally see abt hostel as well..if pssble pay a visit there.Talk 2 people there n MR. MRICHANDANI plz the placement incharge now in person n take all details abt summers n above all placement scenarios n package etc again
n ABT Mrinalini MICA is a different thing al together..its A C SCHOOL (communication school) they say..so if u hve a passion for advrtising n communication..n hve a creative bent of mind ok 2 start with lesser paid job n truly passionate abt a closed niche area say advertising..go for it..(its abt 6 lakh course includin laptop)..otherwise GIM will b a better bet for u anydays.here u can diversify n get multi skilled n these days that might b a better deal if u dont have a passion 4 adnertising n brand management...its ur call but lemme lemme tell u dunno join MICA just for the heck of it...define ur priorities n wat u wana do say 5 yrs down the line..coz if in mica ur field work gets enclosed in 1 structure only...u may nt b able 2 come out of it.
Now guys i m havin a problem now..off late my corporate bosses n some peers suggestin me 2 go 4 KJ SOMAIYA...n plz guys counsel me now a bit more again..now thats sounz silly but mumbai factor n placement killin me

Just got back from Goa this morn and as usual, that place is totally smokin. Ok down to business on the double, Will start with a quick intro. Im Robert, BE Chem from Bangalore have almost a years work ex in marketing. Im into professional theatre/choreography and totally dig working out, heavy metal and beating the c#$p outta my drumkit!
The Insti:
1st Impressions: Having had the privilidge of studying in wide open campuses it did come about as a dampner. The hostel rooms are perhaps barely sufficient, but certainly not something that you cant put up with... thats d guys acco, the Ladies Hostels are reportedly well upto scratch. The place may come about as claustrophobic or dingy to those who'd like to fuss a bit, but I was in awe of its quaint charm. All facilities are provided and I dont think there really are too many issues to complain about. The issues that do matter though (IT connectivity & databases for ex) are absolutely top notch and will perhaps give most of the best institutes a good run for their money.
An Important note: The pgdbm programme here is a griller! the students are resposible for everything from deciding the mess menu to organizing the entire placement process. The faculty's jurisdiction is strictly within the class room! But Id perhaps see this as an opportunity and a challenge... anything thats more involving than mundane lectures!
On a final note ppl from blr if you guys have caught up pl count me in next time. And sanjana glad to hear that you did make it, wats the situation with XIMB? Though I dont think u should fret too much if that doesn't come thru as the gap between GIM and XIMB is certainly gonna be a big deal by 2007.

i am getting the study loan from [email protected]% p.a. and it includes the laptop expense! a total of 3.25 lacs!

German Language course is available at GIM .Infact 2 of my collges who pursued this course went to Germany for summers.Its another matter that they were selected on basis of many parameters and not only this course.
