Hi folks here we go...took lots of time. must say.. tried compiling a list of the selected GIM 2005-2007 batch who have posted here... was fun reading all mails again, and found a whooping 21 ppl who seemed they're gonna join .. hope that this list is preety exhaustive, if i have missed someone please PM me here or on my mssngr and I will edit the list,ofcourse. HI Guyz

U all seem pretty bouyant abt coming to Goa, looks like Goa is all ready to welcome such a enthusiactic crowd.
So any of you guyz recieved the letter. I was thinking of going this week and paying off the fees and for addmissions + the hostel. Also planning to buy the laptop through GIM jus wondering if the specifications would be sufficient enough @ good price.

When you guyz planning to arrive in Goa.

btw, someone here mentioned buying a Dell notebook from US...nithin i think it was u...well i just heard a rumor on my undergrad yahoo grp that Dell notebooks have some inherent problem - called blue screen problem - though don't know what it is all abt - just check it out before u jump in...

anish, thats not fair...we gluttons can't cook even our own ethnic food well enuf - so we should be allowed to bring the recipes to the best chef amongst us...

dhoklas - will bring them if feasible...but dude according to the letter posted by Vikarm yesterday, the joining date is not before 25th of june so tab tak - thaand rakhho bhai thaand....enjoy gurgaon - "gud ke jaisa meetha log - Babulal Ganpatrao Apte (herapheri)" till then...

ARUN i had a talk wth Shashi ,2nd yr student n he said that there were a couple of student who left TAPMI for GIM coz of cost factor...n then u might me just loosing 25k at TAPMI RITE...i am also forfeitin signing amnt for Fore..signin amnt for Fore was 55K..

so take everythg in2 consideration..its an One time affair aftrall

Yaaron daru ke bare mein dont worry yahan par kadam kadam pe daru ka adda hota hai Is dekte hi gate rahoge Yeh adda Woh Adda Yeh Adda........ dekho jisi bhi lage Vadda (big in punjabi) I dont drink though Mein toh Pepsi ka fan hun. Cost aur brand bhi jus the kind to suit you guyz. Movies halls r many in panjim we have our multiplex there......... aur miramar beach.
U guyz I am already famished with the cooking talks and dhoklas and prawns stuff yummmyy......

yep i am right here in chennai rite now...me and my folks shifted last year...so hum bhi kaafi saare ghaat ke paani pi ke aa rahein hain...

btw, vikram when i last visited Goa for a YHAI trek in 2002 dec-jan, i couldn't find a decent cinema hall in Panajim...or perhaps i didn't have the time to...hope the multiplex shows some boring hindi flix along with the portuguese ones...:) btw, i'll keep u company on the pepsi front...

laptop - well one of my pals in LA is tellin me not tobuy it from India, he'll send it from there...then there's one more who's flying to Malaysia in the summer and insists that they are cheaper there... but what abt the maintenance???? confused....but will wait for vikram's input on it regarding the prices and specs GIM is offerin...

yahoo conference - i would love to be a part of it and my id is [email protected] ... but got some problems big time in my pc so won't be able to join in before next sunday....

Sachin ever since we had the IFFI last november we have our own multiplex which shows the latest movies at rates as cheap as Rs.50.

i got few queries in my mind:

1) I know there's a nice Kadamba Bus Service in Goa...but is that enuf for the roaming that we might have to do for academic purposes? (leave alone the other more imp purposes)...in short, is a vehicle advisable or not...as it is a residential school 15 minutes by road from Panajim - thats why the doubt arose in my mind...

2) vikram, did they send a schedule of expenditure with the letter? and did u get it by courier or by post? and have they mentioned any bank that prefers GIM students in issuing edu loans? (like LIBA)...

btw, i saw the name Raghuveer from Hyd in the list that Anish had compiled...hey were u there at IIMB for the gd/pi on 8th march afternoon batch? if yes, then at least three out of that batch have converted...nithin was there too...3 out of the same batch - nice gd at least...

The bus services r very much sufficient to meet all the travelling requirements. Only probl arises during late evenings, after abt 830 pm unlike mumbai the bus services are unavailable. Having ur own vehicle is personal perference then !
Not sure abt any banks favourin GIM students for loans. GIM has corporation bank at its campus but not sure if they have such a scheme. Think I got the letter by post but not sure as I wasnt @ home somebody collected it on my behalf. they have mentioned a break up of the entire 2 year fees jus as given in the prospectus u purchased while u applied to GIM

man whoever going 2 GIM, personally see abt hostel as well..if pssble pay a visit there.Talk 2 people there n MR. MRICHANDANI plz the placement incharge now in person n take all details abt summers n above all placement scenarios n package etc again
n ABT Mrinalini MICA is a different thing al together..its A C SCHOOL (communication school) they say..so if u hve a passion for advrtising n communication..n hve a creative bent of mind ok 2 start with lesser paid job n truly passionate abt a closed niche area say advertising..go for it..(its abt 6 lakh course includin laptop)..otherwise GIM will b a better bet for u anydays.here u can diversify n get multi skilled n these days that might b a better deal if u dont have a passion 4 adnertising n brand management...its ur call but lemme lemme tell u dunno join MICA just for the heck of it...define ur priorities n wat u wana do say 5 yrs down the line..coz if in mica ur field work gets enclosed in 1 structure only...u may nt b able 2 come out of it.
Now guys i m havin a problem now..off late my corporate bosses n some peers suggestin me 2 go 4 KJ SOMAIYA...n plz guys counsel me now a bit more again..now thats sounz silly but mumbai factor n placement killin me
