i am Tejwant from ludhiana,i am a BSC(IT) graduate from Amritsar with no work experienceand my XAT %ile is 86.My name is on the second list of GIM and i desperately want to join GIM,but people at admission cell are telling that the first list is still full.i have converted ICFAI mumbai,SIG(Symbiosis Institute of Geoinformatics).As icfai is too expensive proposition i don't want to go there and SIG offers MS programme In GIS(Geo information Systems) but i want to do MBA and when will the status of gim second list be known,is unpredictable.i wanted to enquire from the other members that is there anyone who is leaving GIM for other B-school?if so,kindly let me know.

n e way...there's a yahoo grp called gim2k7 and rite now there are more seniors there than us juniors...so ppl jump in!

Whats the last date of payment of laptop money? last time it was june 15 , and some people wrote to GIM and paid afer they landed in Goa .Hence they got time to arrange for the loan. However if you are hard pressed on time just get a loan from SBI , which is the best option.Now you een have an estimate of fees with you. As long as the loan is below 4 Lakhs, it will be cleared easily.

I am a Senior from GIM. I know its a tough period for all you guys in the second list .Unlike last year when 15-20 people from 1st List left GIM, this time hardly few people seem to be leaving.This has complicated the situation . I think the college is going to send individual mails to people in second list giving confirmation of reciept of DD, status of WL etc. so be patient.

one problem in GIM is that there is only one person in the Admissions cell....its been that way ..I dunno Why.Thats why the delay.Plus the Cyclone means that Phone lines are down .
Somewhere in this tread I remember people talking about having contacted the Admissions Co-ordinator Mrs Sarita Dsouza. You can mail her [email protected].
Alternatively I am giving you the mail Id of one of the Seniors who is in Goa right now , and may be able to help you. just mail him with your problem and Xat id and see if he can help. His name is Hemant ( [email protected] )

Todays letter actually threw me outta gear. I have already applied for and got the loan sanctioned for Rs3.7 lacs. Cant change the amount to 4lacs.
And BTW Do we have dress code to be followed in Gim? If yes, whats it??

I am glad that i finally got this thread.Im new to pagalguy and was desperately searching for students who have made it to GIM.Happy to say that i have made it to GIM too.
Oops im sorry i did not introduce myself.Im Amit Cruz and am from Bangalore.I finished B.Com from St Joseph's and worked for a year with Hewlett Packard.I am currently thrilled to have made it to GIM and am looking forward to meeting you all.
I love cricket (am quite a fanatic) and love watching and playing other sports too.I follow the english premier league quite closely.
Love watching movies and listening to retro rock music.
I am also an avid quizzer.
Good to have read so much abt our batchmates already and great to hear that we have a chef from Hyatt.Would like to mention that i like to experiment in the kitchen too but am not very good at it.

Hi Anish,
I got a letter from GIM with a reminder abt the payment of 2nd part of 1st installment (21k) by 5th May .Also attached was a receipt for the first part (30k) and a cost break up for the course(stamped on GIM letterhead) which can be used for procuring a bank loan.

thanks for that info...well i could do what you are saying, get the date of payment postponed from 15th June(thats what it is in that letter)...as it is i do plan to come there and apply for a edu loan...so i can add the cost of the lappie in that amount...i also have an option of getting it from Singapore(far cheaper), hope there won't be many maintenance hassles...these GIM ppl have asked us to confirm - that we are going to buy it from there and then they will give us the specs and prices...so is it a good idea to confirm it rite now and then buy it from somewhere else if we get a cheaper deal???

Got the letter from GIM yesterday with the reciept, the breakup for the payments and the info tht the prices of the lappies r being negotiated and the present tag of 72k with 13k for the ms office software (never knew it was worth so much :)) ) . So wht r u guys planning to do for the lappie..do post...guess prashants idea is fine tht we can confirm now..

so hows everyone doing? me too havent got any letter from GIM after that offer letter. Has any of delhi guys got the letter? btw i havent sent the second part of first installment (ie. 21600) yet 
. i will send it by tomorrow or day after tomorrow.... so if any of u havent send it, plz hurry up. last date is 5th may.
well abt the next delhi meet, i can meet any day. among all delhi guys, anish and neha r working at present. so when can u come guys? i suggest MONDAY evening will be fine. Any probs with monday guys (anish and neha?)?

Regarding Uniform ..the blazer etc which GIM has told you to bring is the official uniform. It has to be worn only 2-3 times in the entire year, so chill about it.
About Laptops , confirmation is just a way for GIM to get an idea of number of people interested in buying laptop.As far as i understand , one is not commited to buy it once he confirms. Also find out if GIM is ready to sell you laptops w/o the software, cos official software is very costly.

This is Rajiv and i recd. that leter day before yesterday....one info i want from those who have taken the loan....
Q: Assuming one starts paying for the lon from the v first month after passing out. What will be the EMI's ? Now don't answer with "IT DEPENDS" ....if u have availed it then just tell how much will u b paying......
U see i shall b discussing this with my dad and want to be sure that there wont be too much trouble after i pas out.....vaise he is ready to pay but i saw this Akshay Kumar movie "WAQT" and somhow think " one must take loan for MBA" ....the loudmouth i m i have also been ranting abt the same at home...So tell me all the figures so i can finally decide whether to go o bank with my dad or shud i just go for another movie......
