Guys, I have converted Welingkar MMS. Can you tell me if it a good B-school or I should give one more try for JBIMS.
Pros - I have caste advantage
Cons - I am already 25 no & seeing the MH-CET pattern this year I am worried as to how the pattern will be next year.
since u can apply via quota.. i think u shud prepare again 4 d top bskuls lyk iims,fms,jbims,nitie, etc. instead of joining wellingkar.

This is a very common thought process every MBA aspirant goes through. Thanks to the ever-increasing # of B-school aspirants...its become more of a rat race (for the lack of a better term).........Believe me...you cannot fight such internal feelings by allocating them time, neither is any good gonna happen pondering on these endless questioniarre....you have to (i know its easier said than done) overcome the resistance and try and focus on some other things....i mean....catch interesting articles on the web, watch some motivational videos, catch some great movie (inspirational video or for a break some ROFL stuff). Doing all of the above would make you realise the fact that at the end of the day - Its just another dream you are trying to fulfill. Its just a thing you are passionate about now.....Life has many things to offer....Do not stop LIVING in order to follow your dreams...
Enuf said....being a movie freak that i am...would recommend two movies that cud uplift ur spirits....One (must watch) Little Miss Sunshine

Now talking abt ur current situation.I think u are still working so don't plan to leave the job for MBA.Moreover self introspect yourself that why you really want to do MBA? Any specific plans and find that reason.Try to follow your passion whatever it may be,atleast you will be satisfied that you gave a try.Don't get under peer pressure.Faliures are part of life and the way to success gets through faliures.Learn from them.Keep faith on yourself and start loving yourself and your passion more and more and everyday.If not this year,you can do it next year.Remember life gives chances to everyone but its on us if we choose to fight or we choose to giveup.

I have completed National diploma in computing (level5) and worked as a comp tech for 2+yrs in New Zealand itself.Now,studying BCA(final yr-correspondence) in India from a good uni.
Have also worked in KPO industry for 10months.
Now,I've planned to do MBA n Preparing for TANCET.Since my career is not good so far,I really wanna change it

U can give TANCET a try and before that pls do prepare for cat and give the exam. U can do it realy well if u r dedicated to it. and tancet is comparitively a much easier exam. crack tancet and get into anna university or ssn. LIBA needs XAT score. u can also try VIT,vellore by writing cat exam..

My problem is my Academics. I've got only 60-65% both in x and xii. I am feeling really hopeless. I can score good in CAT(other management exams as well). But what if good B-schools reject me on the basis of my low Academic background. Does Academics really matter that much? Or I am thinking too much.

Cooltsr, LIBA now accepts CAT scores also..from this year..In chennai as far i know only 3 reputed coll are there..

there is no need to get upset.. in any exam be it CAT, MAT ,XAT etc...
the maximum weightage is given to the written exams ... but that does not mean that other things are ignored.
I know many people are worried because of their low scores, average profile....
but come on guys...
its of no use...
i know stories of 2 guys.
1) X,XII and grad (pre final yr) - scores in range of 55 - 59 range... also engineer
now in IIM C
2) X,XII avg, year back in engg.. completed it in 5 yrs.. now in IIM C...
so it does not matter... mind u these are original stats... 1 is guy whom i met in Achievers Meet of XYZ instt...
2 - i met on pg...
so dun worry... i am also in this range.... actually my teacher says that they see everything from xth,xiith and grads... if u are not good at some stage... then u shud be good at some other.....
so dun worry.... there will be points in time.... where u will feel depressed.. lonely... bored ,tired.... less time to prepare... but we all shud have the courage to face it....

If any institutes has been calling you they are not calling you for fun or passing time(you are definitely not a stand up comedian)..
And if any institute wants good acads they will simply reject you in the first place itself..Iim s,k,l,i,b and from last 2 3 years "a" also..
But if you get a call from any institute(c,xl,some newer iims,fms etc),its in completely your hands how to make the most of that..You just cant looking to the door which was never opened for you but you should look to the door which is open..

I got placed in Infosys in 2010 through campus placements.I d actually planned on finishing 2 years in Infy and then doing MBA but somehow ended up going to USA for doing Masters after quitting Infy after just 5 months.But just before my exams due to family problems I had to come back to India .Going to USA was basically my dad's decision so I had almost no say in that.I think what my real passion is in doing something like brand management and advertising as I think I am pretty creative.And so I really want to get into MICA.That's probably my dream.So I have three options :
1)Find work in some IT company for one year while preparing for CAT.The problem might be finding a decent job.
2)Work in some NGO full time to build up my profile.
3)Take admission in the b schools that I might get calls from.e.g SSBM ,ICFAI ( I gave a few MBA exams after coming back without any preparation ).

If you are so passionate about getting into MICA for advertising and brand management, then you can go ahead with preparations for the same. But other top institutes also offer brand management ( though not advertising ). Yes, colleges value work-ex, but you never know, a good score in CAT and subsequent processes can compensate for the lost work-ex.
No need to be disheartened, all is not over yet. A non-IT job is preferable as it would give you some sort of differentiation in the crowd. If you opt for NGO, then you have to make sure that you involve yourself deeply into it so that you have something to say in interviews.
