I know how you are feeling and would actually congratulate you for feeling that 'fire' in your belly and trust me till that fire is burning you are on the right path(I'm speaking from personal exp)! now getting back to your case lets see what all options u have : 1. try to get into a job, any job..don't go for the packg..go for something which would keep u going,give u exposure and also won't be too taxing so that u can prepare for next year.. 2. as far is cat prep is concerned join a regular classroom prog that would give u the regularity that is needed (if u think u can manage on your own,excellent) 3. give as many papers as u can..trust me there is no better way of preparing urself ofr the 'war' than fighting in a few on ur own..
n remember that in the end it is not ur performance in the job, ur monthly remuneration or ur occasional failures in the mocks that would count..all that would count is a good score next year..so just keep up the tempo n u would do well!! ATB

gap is not a problem for your future endeavours,provided u can make ur panel believe why you wanted to be such.
And there have been numerous occasions (u will find mostly here only) where candidates have joined top b schools even after a very considerable period of gap.
p.s.-i wud recommend not to tell lies to the panel,better make them aware of the situation you were in at that point of time

Hey I'm sorry but i guess u r a bcom n i may not be the right person to guide u on this as i'm an engg myself..still i would say that it seems u stay in delhi..now that's a plus..try to go for data analytics/data crunching kinda profiles..may be u can try in the various KPOs too..

look if u work in a IT firm no matter how big it is,if post mba u wanna go for some core fin profile even in that case ur IT exp is not relevant..hope u are getting my point..so basically it depends..but yes ur work-exp would be considered for sure..

Some of the finance companies do look at your grades but I have examples in my batch who had below average grades and got good profiles/packages. Even I was on the lower end and got one of the best finance profiles 😃

it will be ok to get a decent finance profile if not very good, only thing am scared about is the initial shortlisting, pi will depend on my real knowledge, but i shd get shortlisted to appear for pi.

Shortlisting could be a bit tricky but more often than not, you won't get to know whether companies shortlist just on the basis of grades or overall profile. There will surely be instances when a person with higher grades is not shortlisted. The shortlisting criteria of every company is very subjective and it's best to not break your head over it.
first of all where to start and what to write, so i will start with my profile 10th-91 12th-87 Btech-8.2 CGPA Always been a very good student not only at getting marks but also for doing things in a differnet way. Always i have been vey good at maths. I completed my Btech in 2007.appeared CAT for 4 times, but first 3 attempts were only for name shake. this yr i have given it seriously. thought i cant say I prepared very well , but my exam was gud,. People started blaming IIMs for misconduct of the exams, but i never did tht. always i thought tht IIMs directors are much more wiser than us to take a proper decision, they will never play with students future, in my XAT exam ,one guy was sitting beside me he was having fever and sneezing continuesly for 2 hr, becoz of tht for some time I couldnt concentrate on the paper, so i screwed up in DI,(read one caselet wrongly) , then i had no hope for xat, CAT was my only hope. And after a long wait got the result-88 percentile. COuld nt belive on it. felt like everything is scarrated. even becoz of CAT i was nt giving much concentration for my job, now after 3 yr of job ex in a IT company, I have a very low package, with out any MBA offer.
Being a girl my sister is telling to get married , but my parents are very supportive and gave me another chance to prepare,, but seeing all these failure,, I am not getting confidence what will happen next yr..BEing so ambious if I dont do MBA i will never be satisfied in my life and I dont want to do marry with out a MBA degree,, it is very difficult to study after marriage.
DIeing to change my job, what ever job interview I went ,, interview went very well ,,but finally I am not getting any offfer.. It seems where ever and in which ever thing i put my hand it turns to a coal,,

Continue with your job and appear for CAT atleast once more and this time do concentrate harder not only on CAT but other exams too. One more thing your profile is really good. Did you apply to SP JAIN/ Great Lakes? If no do that next year. Also appear for JMET as they give preference to candidates with work-ex. I know pressure will be enormous on you- work pressure/ didi pressure for getting married but for once forget that that you are not bound by these give 100% to b school entrance preparation. Its already may, wait for 6 mnths the whole set of entrance test will start again. Believe in yourself, you will surely succeed...
hey puys pls help me as well.. heres my story 10th-75% 12th-80% b.com-58% cat 08 74%ile cat 09 88%ile this season i got calls from narsee monjee, tapmi,fore ib and imt n i screwed my NM interview and got rejected and am in the waitlist of tapmi am pretty sure i will convert tapmi as per last year trends.. but i am not satisfied with it i am just being forced to join it due to family pressure they don want me to waste one more year as i dont have a job right now.. but i really want to get into a gud b-school by having another shot at it can u guys pls suggest with such profile do i stand a chance for a gud b-school if i try again this yr and would it be a wise decesion?? pls suggest..??
Let me tellu friend to be frank with this profilw its very difficult to be in TAPMI with 95 cat 92 ssc 94 inter 86 btech and a wonderful interview i am in real doubt if i can make to TAPMI if u get it(really u should be lucky for this with this profile) no 2nd thought please go with it u will never repent for ur decision

I would like to tell you to consider MBA on a large scale...I mean to say is that you can try for GMAT also before CAT...as you have good profile ( you didnt mention extra curricular activities) with good GMAT score u can have more options in hand like Great lakes, SP Jain and other collages which accepts GMAT. And keep ur CAT prep going on...I know it is easy to say...but increase your options for MBA..

thanks for ur suggestion man.. but what do u mean by this profile..?? numbers do not always denote a man's potential even if u talk about them i have always got in the 90-95s in maths and other practical subjects..its jus the theoreticals which i never studied...
Well, my story goes back to the year 2002, a grad from IIT CSE. I gave CAT 2002 little realizing its importance. Just gave it casually. Then, I got fooled that it is better to give CAT after 2 years work ex. Got into a company with 2 years bond in 2003. wanted 2 months preparation and i asked for leave, but they didnt provide me. so, i broke the bond and prepared for 2 months and got the calls from iim k,l. but, cudn't convert them.
Then, i worked for the next 1.5 years for CAT, always scoring more than 95%ile. This year CAT 2005 was the twister, since the focus changed from speed to accuracy. and i got the twist of my life with 33%ile in DI.
Then, all my plans got blank and i had to take up a job in May 2006. Then, again i worked for CAT again. This time again, i didn't secure into IIMs. In the meantime, i screwed up my technical skills and after 1 year of hard work, i was promised of team leader position in product based company. But, i was cheated due to some politics and in 2008, i had to leave my job for better prospects.
Then, came recession, lost my job and got into some contract job that didnt give boost to my technical skills. So, i planned to take once again for 2009 and worked day in and day out.
The competition has gone way beyond my expections and i dont know what my future lies now.
I didn't develop my technical skills, screwed up CAT and i am nowhere since the contract job has also ended. Now, after so many years, you can imagine where i am now. All my friends and my juniors are well settled and in good positions. I ditched plans to go abroad for further studies in 2003( bcoz i was depressed that my childhood sweetheart got married and i lost the meaning of life. and from then onwards as well, i didnt go abroad bcoz i had this sicko ideals of love for motherland which i regret now that i shud have gone abroad)
A grad from iit cse, with no strong technical skills, screwed up life. and suicide seems the only way for me. My life is completely messed up. I have plans to buy potassium cyanide for easy death from a well trusted resource. You can see how i am faring now.
