am a pass out of 2008 nd i was got to get my joining of WIPRO in DEC 2008 but due to recession it was delayed by 6 months till june..nd den wen i got my joining my parents dint allowed me to go as they said now if u hav joined d coaching so concentrate on this side only... so i started preparing for MBA entrance examinations since feb 2009 and appeared for all the xams but unfortunately couldnt got a good score just got 98.33 in CET noe i got a call frm WELINGKAR nd m really worried abt how to answer abt this gap of 2 yrs..although i worked for teach india for 6 months frm july 2009 but m still worried..
Plz suggest me wat 2 do??

if ur gd pi is still to come then prepare to tell them exactly what happened to u
there is nothing wrong in that rather they will be pleased to listen to u
tell them about the recession & how u have suffered (All this waiting had happened with such swiftness that I had stood motionless, dumbfounded and dazzled)

U have 6 month work ex in Teach India( If i am not wrong it was an initiative of lead india of TOI which is very good)
& rest of the time u have taken for preparation which every one takes

@ symbi- al types of companies cum dere...vth each havin different criteria...dont get depressed vth ur grads mks nd stop prdictin future vth ur grads score...
i do agree sum companies ve deir specific criteria nd refine students according 2 deir acads but
der r stil companies out dere which give a fair chance 2 every1...
so plz dont get disappointed....dont b afraid 2 move ahead....
if u cant mk ur present beautiful, den u wil alwayz remain afraid of ur fututre...
so vthout ne hesitation...join symbi...nd den put in ur best of efforts dere, den no doubt u wil get placement..
apart 4m placements...its essential, dat we join a b-schul, 2 gain KNOWLEDGE tooo....

Friends i want advice .Let me tell me the failures of my life .I studied engineering in not so good college .Do not know about IIT s till my inter second year.After knowing difference between engineering between good college and bad one i wanted to do further education in good one .I am not good at my core subjects so i had not even thought of MTECH.So i decided to write CAT .I attempted CAT in my final year of my engineering and got 78 percentile .Here there is another twist ,i failed in my project work (even guys to whom i had thought had passed) .So i attempted project again ,i know in order to get rresults it will take 4 to 6 months .I attempted CAT again .Got 95.xx percentile .All thought including me that i get a gud bschool .I got 735 rank in JMET .But i was rejected by every college i applied except w/l 192 in NIRMA.Please can anyone guide me what to do now .I think even preparing for CAT is waste .If i go for everyone asks for reason for one year gap.I have written bank exams ,cleared SBI clerk and gave interview yesterday.What i do now,if i join in some coaching center as tutor will it be counted as experience .Should i wait for po results or join as clerk (if i get it) or prepare for electrical jobs (my engineering) or learn some software courses and join some software company.I am selected in software company KEANE in campus recuriment but it had noy gave jobs to my seniors .WHAT I DO PLEASE ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME

You are waitlisted in NIRMA,right?? You can easily convert NIRMA with W/L 192..then join NIRMA..that would be the best!!!

Success lies within you, making or not making to CAT does not put an end to the endless possibilities and true passion. Since last year i went through a lot of things, i want to share all today. I was working with Infosys but had to leave my job during recession period. Wanted to prepare for Management/PG exams. There were times when i was confused regarding what i really want to do. I grilled and analysed myself.
I saw many failures in form of, Got 92 in IRMA, 41% in CAT, 85% in Dec MAT, Din't cleared IIFT and FMS, 44% in XAT and 65 in Symbiosis but from here the story changes 99% in Feb MAT, Cleared TISS written and IIT Kharagpur IP law exam. Got finally selected in TISS SW course Mumbai and IIT Kharagpur.
I have been always inclined towards socially related matters. Both TISS and IIT- K course are based on social welfare. Its a matter of fact that you have to figure your strengths and what you want to do in life. No one can help you until and unless you help yourself. Don't follow the crowd blindly. Remember that "Conventional people don't bring a change its the unconventional people who make the world to change."
Hey ansh. u need not worry......MBA is not the elixir to life and trustme u still have a chance....u have just worked for three years...3 to 5 years is the ideal workexperience which a B School in Euorpe or USA looks for...for u a GMAT is a viable option....now if u can afford dat....y suggestion to u is if u really want to do a MBA in India den u cant do it from any god damn college.....as that will amount to wasting two years of ur life........drop ur job and prepare for exactly 5 months for all these exams....n ur only focus should be to avoid repetitive questions as u must have already done them a number of times....take dem again give urself a last chance.....for fresh questions log on to the online programs they will give u an extensive use...like Pagal Guys own online program or easycat.in or MBAcrackers.com.....if u want u can also go for classroom coaching again but make sure they donnot use repitiive question.....if ur patient then try executive MBA......it can be ur gateway to a good future....dnt give up.....MBA is very important but not everything.....

Previous failures deterred me. Now i have reached a point where i have nothing to loose only to gain but apprehensive whether an above average student can make it to the elite IIM club?
Any help is welcome from all the guys here.
I used to think two failed attempts taught me to move on as life had to move on but then cant stop these words ringing in my head IIMs .. kept myself away from my friends who achieved and won so that i can get over this madness this turmoil inside me but living a life and doing a job where these 3 words never ever ring i still keep dreaming these words with my eyes open. I dont want to get started about what happens when i close my eyes. Sometimes i think i am a looser but then i think sometimes pain and loss drive me to get me what i want. Sometimes i get up in the morning think alright Rambo no more thoughts about that today. But, I forget Rambo was Sylvester Stallone not me. No pressures from anyone - nothing have a good job and all but have you guys felt a void that something is not effing right.
Apologies if i am speaking trash here. But lately i feel this is driving me nuts. The last attempt i made took a lot away from me and the one thing which i felt was mine also left me. You see, i devoted myself understanding a simple fact that IIM is a miracle and to make a miracle one has to become a miracle. At least a mere mortal like me thinks so.But, nothing happened except that i was holed in my room for two weeks when the result was declared. No food, no nothing. Hell, did i stink when they broke down the door and came in to search for me. But i have never blamed anything in my life. Took what i have and like they say in Rugby ran with it till the end zone.
But, now i feel strange as if i am supposed to do something tread back ... i dont know guys i feel something.
A shrink sounds a better idea. Forgive me but i felt staying anonymous and speaking about me might help me find answers inside me .
hi nrg... i was going thru this thread cause i was so depressed after wat hapend with me due to cat 2009 fiasco.all that online stuff n my neighbour's timer getting feezed n al dat hungama.All my hard work went down the drain bcs of few ppl who didnt let me concentrate on my test bcs of their stupidity............... but i read ur post.U seem to be so depressed than any of us here n i seriously felt like u need this FREE KI ADVICE. CAT is something that we humans created. It is not some heavenly test to prove our worth.U know Rabindranath Tagore failed even in his fifth standard and yet we all respect him so much even after so many years.And beliv it or not that same school is going to celebrate his 150th b day this year.......Life gives you a thousand chances to prove your worth.U shudnt do things like stop eating and shutting yourself in ur room for 2 weeks just bcs ur hard work was not paid off in CAT.Eleanor Roosevelt once said "no one has the right to make you feel inferior without your consent.".................. Its your decision to attempt it again or not.But if god forbid something goes wrong dont get so depressed.So all the best for ur next attempt.This time there are so many IIMs.I hope u get selected in one of them ... 😁 So cheers 😉

am pretty sure i will convert tapmi as per last year trends..
but i am not satisfied with it i am just being forced to join it due to family pressure they don want me to waste one more year as i dont have a job right now.. but i really want to get into a gud b-school by having another shot at it can u guys pls suggest with such profile do i stand a chance for a gud b-school if i try again this yr and would it be a wise decesion??

And for how long will you keep practising the same elementary Math and English MCQs? Its time to end this crazed rat race. If you truly want to learn business, TAPMI will teach you well, and provide enough opportunities for you to implement your learning as well (placements).

ankit incidentally my profile is also exactly similar to urs in most of the cases,and me too in the same boat(no job),in fact i have thought to apply for bank po's and go for a job(if i convert
).a general b.com degree hardly gives u a decent job barring tier 1 cities ( tht too delhi,mumbai).
so i think if u don't want to do mba from tapmi,it wud be very much wise decision (from my part at least) considering the high admission fee .
Better it wud be plan on your available resource and take a calculated decision .

I suggest you to look for a job in a field of ur interest w/o the constaints of salary...it with add to ur profile as well as satisfaction and then u can give cat another try...u r in touch wid subjects so stategy along with dedication will get u thru..

regarding selection-very hard to tell,i think it wud be definitely more than 2-3 months :splat:
regarding type of jobs-i think very few avenues are left open for general candidates.
try marketing domain,pharma sector,financial services.Search mostly in leading job portals,i'm sure u will stumble upon few of them.
