Can anyone send me the soft copies of FRM Notes

Hi Everyone..

I am taking Part 1 in May 2012 along with my CT8 Actuarial exam ... I have thought of studying through Schweser Notes and other materials. I would like to know:

-- Which all books are must have apart from Schweser - I am buying Hull for sure. Is there anything else I should buy like Jorian or Stock & Watson?

-- What about the previous papers? Are they available at Laxmi or one of the Xerox centres as well?

I hope all these are enough to have a good understanding for the Part 1 Exam. Please help me if I need to study anything else.

Thanks
Maneet

previous year papers are must along with it one should go through test series conducted by prinstine or BT to get a real feel of the exam. u can refer to core reading and Jorian handbook also to get indepth knowledge. but in my view scheswer should suffice. all these material is available with book store in mumbai and i have shared their number in my previous post. so please go through it.

i am also preparing for the L1 May 2012

Thanks Rohit, much appreciated.

I am about to source scheswer notes - must be cheaper now 😃 as GARP has done minimal changes to Part 1 from last year.

So, from your previous post, scheswer notes + jorian handbook are available at the stores you mentioned. Are the previous year papers also available at these Xerox Centres or you actually need to enroll at Pristine or BT for that?

Generally, I feel GARP has monetized the whole activity - your cost of exam is actually around $1100 ($600 for exams, $350 for registration, $50 for notes (xerox though) $60 for calculator. If you insist on getting the original reading material, you are talking about $350 more, plus some more for test material.

Anyway, I always believe education is a good investment. After all, I am studying to be an Actuary, so its important to study and acquire additional skills.

All the best for you coming up L1 in May 2012...

hi,.,.

I want to attempt FRM next year studying on my own. I'll be pleased if you could reply the following queries.

Only exam registration ( fee & where )

Is Edupristine 's study material okay ? I'm going to buy for 3k Rs.

Any other means of material, ( low cost precisely, hope it is understandable )

Hi Raeez, Dont buy pristine study material. Instead go for Schewser Notes. Pristines notes are almost useless. PM me if you want any more details.

Prasanth .... I have the Schewser notes and the Jorian handbooks that i orderded from Mahalaxmi Photocopiers in Mumbai , but I read from the varius posts that these are not sufficent and one shld also refer to FRM handbook and Core readings as well . Where can I get the same from and how abt the sample / practise papers as well

Hi can any one help me plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz----

1) I am from commerce background ... and work in Multinational Bank (American) within back office... so Which is better ? CFA and FRM ?

2) What is the starting salary of a fresh FRM with 3 and half yrs of experience?

3) If i choose to quit my job and start a consulting firm of my own ... which is better option ? CFA or FRM ?

please correct me if i am wrong but i think Jorian handbook and FRM handbook refer to same thing..i.e Jorian..isn't it?????? i think scheswer and Jorian should suffice for preparation but it all depends upon ur own comfort with quant.. and u can everything from these book stores ( go through my previous post).. call them n tell what u want. they also have last year question paper, scheswer notes, Jorian handbook, etc etc...

well Mr bestbet, i will recommend you to read early post in this forum. there are some nice post where a comparison is drawn between FRM and CFA.
In short, FRM is strictly related to risk management, u can think of getting profile like treasury, forex, derivatives after getting FRM
on the other hand CFA is much broader and is considered a desirable certificate for people in the field of investment banking, equity research and is also helpful for treasury, risk management role.

well i have no idea for ur question no 2 and 3...:(

I called up Laxmi..the guy there says the Fresh material for 2012 will only be available in Late Jan 2012....Also checked the Kaplan website, where it is mentioned that you can only pre-order the material right now as the material is still not out from GARP (they have mentioned that they will start shipping the handbook / study material from Dec. 19) and they re-do the material irrespective of how many changes in the core readings....Also, past questions (in fact latest questions from 2011 exams) will also get updated. So, I am currently confused whether to buy right now or wait for the latest material, hence lose precious time.

One major change I saw in the core readings was in the quant section, where they have replaced Reading from Gujarati by those from Stock and Watson.

Anyway, have taken some core readings prints from the internet and also bought Hull, I guess they should suffice for now...

Anyone has a better idea?

Hi,
I am starting to prepare for FRM L2 for May 2012. Does anyone here have Schweser 2011 L2 study material and core readings to sell?
Thanks
