hi..........even i am looking for a gud course after my graduation...............heard of CFA US but found it a bit costly as i m not working presently.................then searched for icfai cfa but found this article.........plz go through it.........." We are aware of the ads that ICFAI has been running through its ICFAI University, Tripura. On 4 August 2006, the Delhi High Court issued an injunction ordering ICFAI to stop using the CFA Institute trademarks. The court also addressed ICFAIs sponsored universities, saying that if they have gone ahead to obtain legislative sanctions to use their trademarks they have done so at their own peril. In addition, the Delhi High Court has allowed the CFA Institute application to add the ICFAI universities (PDF) to the pending trademark case on 5 August 2008. In addition, we filed a contempt-of-court motion before the Delhi High Court, and on 31 August 2007 the court stated that ICFAI must comply with the injunction order in letter and spirit. .............................guys i am not saying nething wrong about the course.............but i just want to inquire about the course before applying for it........afterall 25k is not a small amount

Probally the new course one has to sheli out Rs 50,000. I think at the end of the day what matters is the knowledge that i has. if CFA is the only course that fullfills the knowledge one requires to go in the field of equity research and the CFA from usa is expensive which really is then CFA, ICfai is the only option.
Hi

I am Nidhin and I am doing my MBA from a tier 2 business school. I have done my B.Sc and I have 2 years of work experience with Fidelity Investments in the low End Kpo segment. I am also planning to prepare for CFA charter after my MBA..What kind of jobs i can expect after my MBA..I mean is it worthwhile to work for a couple of years in a KPO like Evalueserve..

Nidhin

Hi Nidhi this is papairaja here, if u are from Gr B Mba colleage, life might b tough in front u, as i am from such type of colleage, and specially the given market conditions, it might get tougher, i would rather suggest u to start your CFA now only as during the place ment this might help. Try to under stand some thing in all this type of Kpo or Bpo growth means people management , so the question is wether u want to go 4 people managent or you want to specialise in your field of finance.

Hi Guys,

Yesterday, I joined CFA program.....just want to know if the course material for CFA and MS Finance is same as I have got CDs for MS Finance.

Also, will there be two exams for each paper (Part 1 and Part 2) or just one exam for each paper?

Is here anyone from Pune who has joined classes and planning to write exams in July? Probably, we can make a study group.

Hope to have a very healthy discussion here which will keep us informed and help in clearing the exam.

Any insight from seniors on anything is welcome!!!

Cheers,
Pressy

yes the course material for CFA and MS Finance are the same, nnd instead of part 1 and part 2 you just have to appear for one 3 hrs exam.

Hi, Buddy you have loads of experience. But as u have asked that whether the level A is tough for a guy like you. I would say that just think that the level first is a tough one and try to cover the whole course atleast 2 times. There is no need to refer any other study material other than study material provided. Just study of study material would be enough, as you would be required a basic understanding of concepts and not detailed study of accounts and economics. Make sure you solve atleast 5 test paper, once you have completed ur studies. All the best

Hi,

To be very frank I have not even started preparing for my group A exam because of loads of Work in office. Can someone tell me if the classes are sufficient to crack the group A, although I am committed to study from now on.

Also can you provide me some previous years question papers?

Thanks in advance.!!

Puys

While researching about CFA program i came across this link India FAQS: The CFA Program in India

Giving it here just to make puys aware of few things.

If what i have given is already known please ignore it.

My aim is not to attack or taint any institute, i just want to share with fellow puys what i came across.

If found helpful take it, or just skip the post. But no groans pls

Hi ashish,
First of all, would lik to inform u dat, cfa/ms fin. is baap of all finances. though it is not gettin da credit it deserves. i mean in terms of package wise. But m sure in future u can surely expect to reach heights.
I can assure u dat u will be very well versed with all da finance funda and the most important thing, it helps to open up ur mind. Increses ur creativity and scope of our thinking.. Hence if u wanna do anything in finance CFA / MS FIn is DA course in INDIA. Otherwise U can also opt for Int. CFA.

Best of Luk.

First of all do u mean ISB HYD or is it sum other instuitute?? well frankly speaking, it may turn out to be tough decision, as pursuin MBA n CFA becomes a tedious task. U will require a lot of commitment. ofcourse its not impossible, but is quite challengin, will have to devote time to studies.
CFA itself is a correspondence course. Jus enrol urself with the insitute n u will be eligible for xams After every 3 months.

Wish u all da best..
