I am new at this forum.little from you guys.I am commerce graduate and semi qualified CA(I have completed CA Inter.Could not complete the final stage.I am in no mood to continue CA further now)
I am working in a leading KPO company for over 3 and half years. My designation is AM.I want to know your views on the followings :
1.What should I opt for CFA or CFA-MBA dual course from ICFAI.
2.How much time do I need to devot on the study.Keeping mind I have proffessinal responsibilties to fill.
3.Is there any other course available in India, that would help me in my proffessional growth.
@ senior members of the forum, please advise.
First of all I would like to thanks to the people for creating such community and users for sharing their experience, views for CFA in this site and providing a space for people like ours. actually I am searching a community for cfa in goole and then I find this thread, which is very updated and active. So I just register in Pagal Guy and join this forum.
Now its time to introduce myself that who is this new 'Pagal'. I belongs to a lower middle class family for which I have to earn for them rightway after 10th standard. Initially I have done the very lower category work as I am less educated at that time. However I have never compromised to my study and I had completing my education aside to the Job, I get promoted to higher post according to my education and after graduation I become a Accountant in a Pvt. Firm. However its my bad luck that I have never reached or employed in a MNC companies, after graduation I decided to choose a course, which would be compatible to my present Job situation .i.e. timing and after lot of thinking and research two alternatives are come out. i.e. MBA or CFA from ICFAI university in distance learning mode. after deep thinking I realised that in MBA there is huge competion and every 3rd person completing graduation are shifting towards MBA, some other factor for not choosing it are its long time period and last but not least its fee, So I makeup my mind and decided to go for CFA,
But as I thought earlier CFA is not very easy programme and it requires continous learning and preparation, but I am hardly getting spare time to read. however I managed to do the course by reading late night and on sundays and finally I have completed group A with 80%, (FA=88, ECO=72). and now I am studying in group B.
Now the million dollar question is this Is group B is tougher than A or it is simple like A?, we have no faculty after group C, Can we prepare for exam ourself after group C?, How much I expect from Job Market after persuing CFA?, there is a rumor in my college that no one can complete cfa by clearing all groups in series. is it true?, Is my present Job act as a problem during CFA?, What are other options of earning which would be helpful in CFA?
Thanks for reading and sparing your time for a very ordinary guy and please reply me

HELLO ALL ICFAI'NS
Sorry for such a long time inactivity, actually my office has shifted and unfortunately no net facility is avalable there. So I got no time for post my reply. I would like to share the 'gurumantra' for clearing CFA group A,
Guys just don't worry anymore because group a is the most easy group in the whole cfa programme, if you have commerce background, you himself realized that all chapter are studied earlier in 11th 12th and graduation, For non commerce background you are advice to understand the basic concepts of accounting as in papers no advance level questions have been asked.
Financial Accounting Papers have around 73 to 75 objective type questions, for which you have given 3 hours to complete, writing enrollment no. your details require around 20 minutes extra (in which the most time consuming thing is writing your details in OMR sheet,) but fortunately you get extra time for these formalities, but friends you really wonders that whole paper are completed in not more than 2.30 hours, (as in my case, even I have to researched around 12 questions, which i have not seen earlier), So if you have practice lot, you can easliy manged to finish the stuff in 1.30 to 2.00 hours. and the really best thing is that there is NO NEGATIVE MARKINGS in both subjects.
In Economics you have to pay attentions towards numericals and practicals questions specially, which covers almost 60% of the whole papers, in my opinion it is the better option for endless theories, in my opinion go through your workbooks and don't use textbook if you are short in time,(in my case i have only prepared the sums asked in latest two papers at last moment) so if you are even more short on time, just study latest papers as much as you can. you have every chance to win.
If anybody wants the papers of group a mail me at [email protected]
however i am in really trouble in group B so any suggestion from my seniors are really appreciable
Satyendra Chauhan
Suggestion is Leave ICFAI and switch to AIMR
Days
108 138
124 163
124 159
106 134
115 139
Assume that the alternate hypothesis is that the mean shelf life is greater than 125 days. Can the null hypothesis Ho :u =125 be rejected?
can somebody provide me the links for understanding the concept of hypothesis , f and t distributions I am much confused in all of the topics and my exams are coming on 18th Jan, preferably video would be more useful due to short on time
which is the AIMR course or institute
spice154 Sayswhich is the AIMR course or institute
dude this is not the place to discuss aimr...these people are discussing a different india based insti...although i just came across your question, follow the following thread http://www.pagalguy.com/discussions/need-some-opinions-on-cfa-25012326 for aimr related discussioan...hope it will help
Guys I have recently joined the ICFAI CFA Course and have my Group A Exams in July this year. Can you help me out how to study for this level.
I am an Engineer with Qualifications and currently working in Nomura Holdings which was earlier Lehman Brothers in Mumbai as an Analyst. I have experience of Capital Markets and Stocks & Derivatives etc but no formal education in the subjects. How can I start studying and please let me know if the Level A is very tough for a guy like me?
Can someone also suggest any reference books for Level A other than the Study Material of ICFAI?

Hi, Buddy you have loads of experience. But as u have asked that whether the level A is tough for a guy like you. I would say that just think that the level first is a tough one and try to cover the whole course atleast 2 times. There is no need to refer any other study material other than study material provided. Just study of study material would be enough, as you would be required a basic understanding of concepts and not detailed study of accounts and economics. Make sure you solve atleast 5 test paper, once you have completed ur studies. All the best

After completing ICFAI CFA what are the job prospects, not considering the current market slump,in general what are the probabilites of getting a good job considering no prior finance experience..
