what would u suggest?

Hello,

There is no dedicated thread for CFA guys from ICFAI, hyderabad. So i thought it will be a great idea to open a specific thread focussed on CFA-ICFAI. We can discuss about exams, motivate each other, discuss about placements , about training classes and even form study groups in different cities. According to ICFAI prospectus there are over 20000 guys studying for CFA ICFAI and this thread will be useful to all of us.

I am Akhil, 23 years old living in delhi. 2 years call centre experience. But not in mood to again pick up a headset. Studying for ICFAI CFA level 1 group alpha. Exams coming up next month . Plans to complete CFA ICFAI by april 2008.

One great thing is that after completing Level 2, You get waivers for CIIA (Certified International Investment Analyst), Switzerland for national exam. You can directly appear for CIIA international examination and this is a great Global degree in investment banking field.

Lets join hands to help each other in clearing CFA ICFAI exams.

Hi.. I dint bother to read the repies below as I found you to be the right person to help me out. By now you would have also finished your CFA . Well, I am Mohit, 2 yrs experience in th IT field and I dont waana do any more software testing. I would like to change lines but due to a few personal probs wont pursue a MBA regular. You know correpondance courses do not have job market but CFA seemed to me like a better option. I would like to know the job prospects for this as I am not studying this as just another degree. My interest are Finance, Investment baking, Economics and Capital markets. Would this program assure me change in line from IT to Finance and get me a decent job with a decent salary of say 4-6 lac pa? Are ICFAI's palcement worth considering?

Please advise... Thanks

hi! i'm currently pursuing my mba (finance) and want to enroll for the cfa program.however my grads grades r screwed up (

no there is nothing like that as fees will remain same in any case....

noida has got center and current fee is rs 25000 for 1st year and 20000 for 2nd year i.e. total 45000 without training classes....and 15000 more if u want classes

I would like to know if these training classes are important as i would have to spend 25000 rupees extra i need to know if i can do without them and if the quality of training tht thye give is good ? Please let me know

i think training classes are gud and u shud opt for dem and talking abt the quality of it one f ma frnd clear cfa all papers in 1 go juss coz f training classes

I am in a certain kind of a delima . I joined Ms Fin. few mnts back coz CFA AIMR wasnt allowed to conduct exams in india . Now since it had got permission , shall i give up MSFin. and join this ...or continue vid ICFAI...coz the brand value of ICFAI is going down day by day ...but the problem is that i have invested a hefty sum in it .
Another option cud be aftr completing delta try for CIIA...what do u ppl think..

Arent the training classes only for Level 1?

I am not pursuing any CFA but I think you are being too harsh on ICFAI. Read this post by Tumtum, they may help you.

iam doing CFA,(MFA) from icfai I also had the same kind of confusion at first.IMO, knowledge point of view ICFAI is really good. Unfortunately some people are even making derogatory remarks against that without looking at the curriculum and materials..Me to be frank, dont want to spend lakhs on American CFA(iam not in that kind of job either to shed those). Iam doin for knowledge sake as the subject is very interesting and i will be doing my Pg and will treat this cfa as just a Finance certification (It may/may not be equal to American CFA but its definitely a better finance certification program i will get at 24k)And iam not bothered much abt the Charter issue..On what i managed to gather, ICFAI CFA is better than atleast Level 2 of American CFA & in market, the no. of people who actually hold American CFA is much less than those appearing/with Level 1 and Level 2.
American CFAI is evolving as a kind of monopoly,Charging hefty fees(no proper materials even after paying so),..icfai is doing an incredible job of imparting education all across the country at affordable price (they dont even get any grants from Govt unlike other Institutes/Univ.).Some of their industry oriented certification courses like PGDFE, u will never get it at anywhere in india.
BTW, have a look at the offer documents of any Mutual fund schemes you will come across a lot of fund managers holding CFA ( ICFAI ).

Rather than spending so much money and then getting no where first get a basic to Core Finance by doing CFA from ICFAI and if you feel that you want to pursue International CFA u can easily do it.

Hi,,
Great applause for your dedication,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
It is really inspiring the readers,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Even I have experienced the same situation.............I had just finished my graduation and was interested in the profile of a Financial Analyst. I was thinking whether to do an MBA or a CA or CFA. But After graduation worked one year worked for a BANK and Two years in BPO sector(along with preparation of CAT, Currently I am doing my regular MBA apart from pursuing CFA, Just because of the knowledge which I gained from the preparation of CFA, I was able to get through Internship program at one of the largest financial Service Providing company across the world "PwC- PricewaterhouseCoopers": I got lot of learning opportunity and I am sure it really help those who are planning for MBA and wants to specialize in the domain of Finance. I am sure this additional qualification will help me in getting a good placement while competing with my colleagues.
If any one is preparing for CFA exams and looking for previous years of question papers, you can send an email to me : ,
Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SUNIL

Dont seem agree from your comment. recently huge corporates & govt inst.like IRDA had recruited CFA's. The scope for CFA's are very good. If u havent got a good opportunity then this is a diff thing..

hello
thanks anu

i believe inCFA of ICFAi degree value and the future of CFA holders will be very good why because the financial markets of India will show upward growth for the next two decades. no doubt the CFA of Icfai degree holders will get good opportunities in the financial sector
