Gave my CFA Group A financial accounting paper today in Delhi - anyone else out there who gave this paper today ??
I wrote the cfa financial accounting today.. paper was ok.. i think i will pass. when will the key of the paper release..

i hav recently registered wit ICFAI CFA... first i used to hav a negative feel towards cfa.. but after readin all ur posts.. now i feel confortable..
i hav completed my CA inter n will be appearing for my final in nov 09..
my CFA attempt is due this july.. n m plannin to take 1.5 months off..
will dis period suffice..
n wat is da dificulty level of level one...

[yaar the lvl 1 is quite easy....and for a person like u who has completed his PEs it shouldn't take u much time preparing for the exam......the syllabus in the first lvl is mainly basic understanding and concept building....with the question paper being objective type........it will revive ur concepts of higher secondary and college(mainly) lvl.....

the paper difficulty is moderate......but if u r through with ur stuffs then it shld appear damn easy actually....doing workbooks will definitely help u out...make sure that u solve each n every problem bfore u sit for the papers......however the question in the exam will not exactly be a replica of the workbooks....so building and depending on ur basics is suggested......however after u r done with the wrkbook it won't make u feel "oh gosh...iam doin it for the first time" kinda feeling.....also they will hlp u to complete ur paper much faster with improved accuracy(as the paper will be objective type.....with each question having five options to choose frm for the answer)....................

Doing the entire part 2 of the workbook will suffice as far as the sums go. But doing previous years papers will be the best thing to do as most is repeated. ICFAI charges for them. Try Google-ing it.
Infact me too an engineer doing MBA and CFA simultaneously. Its been a tough time to prepare for both the courses... ofcourse no pain no gain...
Since CFA program is flexible, u can take ur own time to prepare for the course. Right now i am going to appear only one paper for JULY coz my semester is gng to appear in the same date....
So, u can join the course, provided ur a hard working student!!!!

Here is my practical suggestion:
1) Since you will be a cost and management accountant by the end of this year, you can get openings in the same related field. Genpact in Kolkatta will hire you as a business analyst instantly doing cost budgeting and variance analysis.
2) It is impossible to get an opening in investment research without CFA, MBA finance.
3) You should start working after ICWA and complete your CFA side by side. Once CFA gets over, then you can try for investment management/research.

Hey group alpha,beta...(9 groups) are part of MS Finance..but u get CFA completing first 4 groups..whereas in MFA(the new ICFAI CFA and will be referred henceforth to avoid confusion) u have group1,...6 and u get CFA after completing all the six groups..
also understand the terms...Groups>>Subjects>>Papers

ur qtn is ' do same Subjects have same papers'?.sorry i also dont know abt this..But since thy have offered waivers for msf.people they shud be same ..

MFA focusses more on the areas, u have mentioned as goals,more than msfinance.Even tough i feel u have taken the right course regarding ur goals, BABU will answer better
