Hello,
I gave my CAT today (13th Oct, 3:15pm). Since my centre was far away I had to start my journey from Kharagpur at 7:30am. Even then I reached the centre( thanks to the traffic conditions of Kolkata) only by 2:00pm. Didn't have time to take lunch. So was kind of dizzy. So I request you all to find out where the exact test location is, how to reach there and have proper breakfast/lunch. Also dark chocolate bars can provide instant energy boost! ( Not joking). Please try to reach the centre atleast 1:30 hours before the scheduled time.
As you all might know, you need to carry just your ID card and admit card. It is better to carry two ID cards as I've seen some people being asked to show another ID card since the photograph on it wasn't clear. Paper,Pencil,Eraser etc will be provided. So no need to carry a pen. In my case the entire procedure was smooth( i.e security check, fingerprint registration etc). You may keep your wallet with you.
About the exam:
QA & DI : Moderate level. There were 5-6 sitters. DI sets were not complicated but was calculation intensive. All areas were covered. People like you would easily solve 25 questions with 90% accuracy. But since I didn't have proper preparation, was not able to take full advantage. No type of questions that weren't discussed in CL mock tests were found. Among the questions, personally I found Number systems to be the most difficult.
VALR: 3 LR sets, 3 RCs and rest VA. 1 LR set was difficult, 2 were simple. 2 RCs carried 3 questions each and 1 RC carried 4 questions. Section difficulty almost same as CL mock tests. VA had very close options. So if you aren't sure it is better not to make random guess.
Overall : Well balanced paper, No surprises, 99% pakka for people who have solved and ANALYSED mock tests sincerely.
From personal point of view, my attempt was bad. Only reason is that I did not prepare vehemently. Trying to learn from this year's exam to do well next year. So all you guys who have been preparing well since last few months have nothing to worry. Just stay calm. Take it as another mock test ( atleast that's what I felt when I took the test. Same exam format and screen layout).
PS: Requesting you again to find out your test location before hand to avoid last minute rush. Try to have proper rest and NUTRITION(very imp). I was starving and so tired due to the travel. So my efficiency was drastically reduced. Please don't make the same mistake.
PPS: Next year, when I am giving CAT seriously, I have decided to select Kozhikode as centre because there's nothing better than being at home and getting our mother's blessing before the exam!
All the best you guys. Give your best shot brothers! No pain No gain :)
@spdspd Wonderful post bro.. would have surely calmed the nerves of a few (mostly me
!!!)
Anyway "it ain't over till the fat lady sings "
... so keep your hope up !!!
P.S : What were your attempts like ?

@Kevin88 Section 1 : 24 and Section 2: 22(that too bad accuracy). My paper was not good bro. Actually kinda sad. Reached back at KGP at 1:45am ie today early morning. Took a bath and thought of sharing my day and most importantly, the small errors that costed me much(Improper planning). As all of us know, it is the performance of the D-Day that matters. Since I have seen you guys working so hard and consistently scoring well in mocks, even teeny-weeny mistakes shouldn't be allowed in between you and your goal. And I missed to emphasize a point. PLZ DO NOT GO WITH PRE-CONCEIVED NOTIONS AND NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS. LR of day 1 was 'shockingly easy' but LR of my slot was difficult. Stick on with your time tested strategy. (worked for JEE back in 2009 ).
@spdspd Thanks for sharing it mate , so eventually LR has also turned difficult. So far , it was theonly sec that was dubbed to be a sure shot attempt... Newez
@spdspd Thanks dude for the info. Don't give up hope just yet. Normalisation works in weird ways
Writing any other exam this year ? If you are, then stop thinking of next year's CAT.

I am not analysing CL stuff as am a TIME student
I never took the procs and unprocs in a timed manner, so no point analysing it. I finished with Quant and little verbal of CAT 2008-2004. GP sir had said that DI is following the trend of CAT 90-99 and hence i just wanted a look. Too late to work out all of it. Will do as much as i can till tomorrow night. After that go through the concepts, sleep a lot and not get distracted by PGs CAT X-day discussions.

Nope. Still have around 10 aimcats to analyse. :(. When you analyse, do you do the RCs again ?
@seetharam7 I am not writing any more exams this year. Just wanted to test how the real CAT would be like before my 5th year. Pani kitti. So taking it as a wake up call and planning to study properly for the next year. Btw all the best for your exams. Bell the CAT for sure!
