CAT 2012 Kerala study group

Logarithms:
1. log(a) + log(b) = log(ab)
2. log(a) - log(b) = log(a/b)
3. b^(log a) = a^(log b)
4. log (base - a^q) [N^p] = p/q * log(base - a) N
5. a^(log(base-a) [X]) = X (contributed by @Vascent )
6. Characteristic of a logarithm: The integer part of the logarithm, after converting the remaining non-integral part to a non-negative quantity
7. Mantissa of a logarithm: The part after that decimal point. It is always positive
8. log(x) has two types of graph, one increasing and the other decreasing. It depends on the base (a) of the logarithm. If a>1, increasing. If a
9. In case of log(base-a)[N] , N>0 , a >0, a not equal to 1.

@seetharam7 Nice.. quoting all of youmadfellow's posts...

Brother wud appreciate it if you could also post some gud q's testing our basics also...if you come across any...
More often than not its the simple things that most of us make mistakes in either due to overconfidence or complacency !!!

No bars for QA or VA !!!!

@Team : Guys lets follow the example set !!!

One thing to note is that most of our discussions here mainly/only orient towards QA. But its S2 that does most of us in...
So lets concentrate on FIJ's / SC's /PJ's/PC's/FIB's etc in the coming days too !!!

Cheers !!!

@Kevin88
Its not that we would love to go for a pilgrimage and get the holiness alone keeping away our friends here. There are so many other external factors that keep us away from this thread during this time. For me i dont have access to PG in office. Most of the time i use my mobile internet to browse through these threads. And u know how much difficult it will be to post questions or concepts here using a mobile. And since im taking OTs these days i hardly find 2 hours in night to prepare something. I may go for a mock test or analyzing a mock in that time. Still whenever i find sometime in between i used to post some qn or reply to any sums here. Same is the case with @pugna . I spoke with him yesterday and he is having some hectic time with some new project that he couldn even concentrate on his preparations.
But as you said CAT is a roller coaster ride where we all are in it and i hope we all here enjoy it like crazy. @seetharam7 Do post some questions also to get our basics more firm.
Bdw i am giving NMAT this sunday. And i really screwed up my VA section both the times when i gave AIMNMAT.

@raku1989

BELIEVE ME !!!.. I know the hectic schedule most engg face ...esp mechanical & production engg..myself included...however i have been a bit more luckier as you can see by my constant bickering!!

Pls don't take it personally, my reply might have been a bit too harsh based soley on my personal situation /stress/etc...

Don't take it to heart !!! Just an observation for the entire team in general...

Rt from the very beginning we were a bit sluggish & as the season progressed we never really got into a groove as a study group..even on weekends...

Hopefully we can learn from our mistakes !!!

I would never ask anyone to compromise their prep for PG!!!
Once again humble apologies if i might have been a bit too inconsiderate !!!

P.S : Don't worry abt your VA... it will all turn out well !!!
Let f(x) = ax^2 €“ b |x|, where a and b are constants. Then at x = 0, f(x) is
(1) maximized whenever a> 0, b >0
(2) maximized whenever a > 0, b
(3) minimized whenever a > 0, b > 0
(4) minimized whenever a > 0, b
@Kevin88
Buddy there is nothing to apologize here. I really understand how much our absence/ silence in the peak time would have frustrated you. Moreover its heartening to see someone demanding our presence more often in this critical stage.

I hope you din mean to say that we can learn from our mistake and do better next time.

Dude ! I have less than a week.

When a>0 and b>0, f(x) can be +ve, 0 or -ve depending on the value of a and b.
But when a>0 and b

So when a>0 and b
Therefore option (4).

@raku1989

He!! he!! Consider it a typo from my part...
The picture sums up my state

But isnt f(x)=0 when x=0 ?

@raku1989
@pradyothcjohn

Brotha !!! U're the first to bazooka the shit out of a certain feline.. come 14th
My only words of wisdom :

@seetharam7 Since it is 0; it becomes the min value attained; for any other value +ve or -ve , f(x)>0 !! (with the constraints a>0 & b
@Kevin88 @raku1989 Thanks. Got it. Its a CAT 2004 question. Are you guys going through the VA sections of prev years CAT ?
@Kevin88 I'm sorry for not being active too buddy.I was pretty busy conducting and correcting the internal theory and lab exams at the engg college i work.Will be more active henceforth :)

He..He..!!! Trying bro !!! Trying !!! 04-08 tht's wht i have in mind... With current workload..its like one mock analysis per day... wud have to take some leaves to complete them though

@pradyothcjohn ALL THE BEST BUDDY
@rohan_bhasker College pillayrude thallu medikathiriku !!! Methuvay correct chethal madi !!!
