bro i will always suggest Dell studio 15 priced at 36,900 wid 3GB ram and 320Gb HDD

Dell reliability stands out , i myself going for the same

I would also suggest booking online , it will save u taxes and cut it down around 2-3k

Peformance wise i would not be able to differentiate but yes in terms peripheral differences

Some of them could be

Ram size
Hard Disk Size
WebCam quality
Monitor Size

I havent used dell but have heard of heating problems. Also Sony has gr8 looks and screen display is awesome. I would surely recommend this, unless you are going for a Macbook...(Else if you want something cheaper, dell 15R is good ..costs 31,900).

Hi, Many ppl suggest that one shud go for a 3yr accidental insurance directly at the time of purchase......They say so because gettin dell laptop repaired without warranty is very expensive and also usually laptops tend to becum faulty post 2yrs of use.......also lets not forget that MBA requires a laptop to be used as a football....thus an insurance cover seems sensible...guys pls pour in thoughts....as cost becums to high with this insurance cover.....

If you are going for Dell .. you can avail other discount.. either a Central Govt discount or a B School Discount for certain B schools or Infosys discount...Get in touch with the customer care officer in Dell and they will provide more information on the same...

Wouldn't those discounts only qualify if you are an employee?? Also, my B school does not have any such deal so I will be buying the lappie on my own.
I'm asking for add ons one may be able to bargain for as a retail customer

Pls replyto above-------also there are rumors of dell rolling back the 15r series due to heating and dead pixel issue.

Well, firstly there are different i5 processors like i5-430, i5-520, i5-540 and Intel plans to launch i5-580 and i5-750 later too. So if in case you compare the i3-350 with the lower end i5 processor the difference between the two is minimal. I am talking the difference in terms of processor speed.
The i5 has more cache, so it should be around 10-20% faster. Also, the turbo boost feature gives i5 a higher clock speed than the i3 in case of high workload, say, for example, a 1 ghz i5-430 would be roughly equal to 1.1 or 1.2 ghz i3 while an i5-540 would be equivalent to 1.4-1.5 ghz i3. In layman terms, apps and normal operations (copy, zip etc) run an inch faster in i5 than i3 and another inch faster in i7 than i5. If you consider something like the Internet, there wouldn't be much difference at all between i3 & i5 as your your downloads/ browsing speeds depend on your network bandwidth etc.

thnx a lot.......so if a buy a i3-330M (2.13Ghz, 4Threads...processor...is it gud...for daily work kinda MBA stuff and some gaming ??
